BUFFY & HOF Mod Releases

1. Did Buffy do anything to "fix" global warming? I'm not having any luck triggering it.

2. Is "Rising Seas" allowed? rules page says yes, HOF mod says no. (I guess the question is moot if Buffy diabled global warming.)

yes. don't remember the details.

The mod is most likely right.

Ok, I'll answer my own question for anyone else who might be interested. My investigation shows that the Global Warming Mod a.k.a GWMod was included in Buffy.

I'll explore that more. I'm working on using Global Warming in a strategic way.

Unfortunately, the Global Warming mod effectively eliminated global warming in an effort to tame it and make it more interesting. You should check out the GWMod thread for more details, starting at the last page.

Somehow my Civ IV settings got changed (might have been from loading a test game someone else created). I am trying to get them back where they belong. One setting I have changed is graphics quality (from low to high). However, now when I run mapfinder, my screen caps are coming up black.

Does anyone know why the mapfinder screen captures are messed up? They seem to work when I go to low graphics quality, but I am 95% sure I was not running low quality before.

I lose my setting file all the time too. I keep a backup.
Civ makes a backup of the .ini file for you (in the same directory) However, if you're not quick to recover it, it often backs up over top of your backup and you lose settings anyway.

Regarding the black screen caps. I also get that when I run in fullscreen mode. In windowed mode, I'm OK.

Now that you mention it, I do remember the bit about full screen mode... a while back I used to switch back and forth when using mapfinder (I prefer to play in full screen but would switch to windowed for running mapfinder). However, for a long time now mapfinder has worked for me in full screen.

With graphics set to low quality, the screen caps work. The main reason I did not want to stay in low quality was it did not show river flow. However, by unchecking some of the other options that get autochecked when you switch from high to low I was able to get my rivers flowing again in low quality . I think I might be back to a configuration that allows me to get my caps in full screen without compromising too much on graphics.

Bottom line.... I will take your advice and create my own backup.

I need to try these mods myself.

I have few questions which need to be answered first:
Does these mods alter the vanilla games anyway?
Are these just mod activated additions for game?

No they don't alter the game in any way, just provide you with information (that was already available) in an easy to use form.

Hope you enjoy!

I tried out that BUFFY MOD. Incredible stuff there.
Quite well done. All those information bars were very useful.

I have a question:
Can I alter BUFFY for my mod?
I just change some unit speeds in that XML file.

Better place to ask would be the BUG Forum.

For the record, BUFFY mod is a compilation of BUG, BAT, and the HOF Mod. All non-security related stuff from the HOF Mod was either replaced by or added to BUG & BAT for BUFFY. As Ozbenno mentioned the use of BUG or BAT code is the BUG Team's territory.

I hope by "my mod" you were talking about for non-HOF use. :crazyeye:

To Denniz:
I don't plan to alter CODE itself in those mods. Just some XML files i mod.
I plan to use that non modified BUFFY mod in HOF games. Someday. When I learn this game better ;)

I asked permission in that sticky section. Answer was:
Thread was that EmperorFool sticky thread.

By user ruff hi:
yes. You will not be able to submit HOF games using the modified BUFFY mod.

For own mods YES. HOF NO.

There is a user contract in the BUG code that basically says you can use it how you like. Any mod or improvement should be shared with the community. You cannot sell it for money or other benefits. You also need to include reference to the authors of the underlying work (ie don't delete the references). We all share and steal code from each other.

Only correction to the above is to replace BAT with BULL. Yes, it's truly confusing.

BUG = Python features and XML fixes (some features stolen from HOF Mod)
BULL = DLL features plus Unofficial Patch fixes

BAT = BUG + BULL + lots of cool graphics for buildings, units, terrain, etc. and other nifty stuff
BUFFY = BUG + BULL + HOF security

Hi people,

I want to request in my name and Schon's -
When looking for huts, we want to mark where the hus were to know where not to explore (3 tiles radius..).
I can switch modes and "add sign", but it is very awkward as it is.

Please (pleaseeeeeeeeee) add a keyboard shortcut that can easily mark a square on the map.
Booga.
Freak.
