Bug reports and technical issues

I am indeed using a laptop, and I actually hadn't noticed it, but I was using the power saver option at the time despite it being plugged in. I've put it on high performance now, I'll try firing up a game again some time and see what happens.

Specs:
Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz 1.67 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 2.00 GB
System type: 32-bit Operating System

DoC is perfectly playable on a Laptop with 2GB RAM.
The old laptop on which I used to play DoC with had almost identical specs to yours.
However, this was back in DoC 1.81. I cannot say the same for the current version.
If I had to guess, I would recommend playing the current version of DoC on a machine with 4GB RAM minimum.

I think now that it's on High Performance, you should be able to last a little longer (no pun intended).

I'm sticking with 1.9, fyi.

Yeah, I'm running DoC 1.10, and upon following the suggestions given here, I received a new error message while playing as the Arabs, this happened around 900 AD:

ERROR

Failed to allocate video memory. Please try reducing your graphics
settings.
File:\main\Civilization4\SDKs\Gamebryo2_0\CoreLibs\NiDX\Renderer\
NiDX9SourceTextureData.cpp, Line:321

Followed by the familiar Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error message I've previously reported.

Barring my suggestion, make sure that Civ4 is the only relevant process running in Task Manager.
Don't be running Firefox or some other program in the background while playing.
If this doesn't help, then... my next suggestion would be to try to upgrade to a more powerful machine.

Good luck.

Yeah, you'd be surprised how much memory Firefox hogs and how much performance can increase by closing it. The same goes for most IMs.

It seems like if you squat a (independent/native/barbarian) city to prevent its spawning, then if you quit the game and start a new one, that city will not spawn no matter what.

Yeah it's Mardi Gras in New Orleans so I've been a tad caught up with the festivities, but I've recently had the chance to implement the latest round of suggestions. I ensured my graphics settings were set at the bare minimum, made sure that there were no background programs such as an internet browser running, and loaded a 600 AD England campaign. Unfortunately, sometime during the early renaissance after I had founded Protestantism, I received the original error message that prompted me to turn to this forum for advice originally. I guess I'll just have to wait until I can get an upgraded machine.

Playing as Vikings, Copenhagen/Roskilde does not pop the 3 southern tiles before HRE spawn - it never becomes a part of its BFC. Is this WAD?

Edit: Ah, it makes sense now, nevermind :)

My French game is mental. Started off with ruined Paris, then I keep getting messages thar civ has been destroyed but they are still there, and now my game crashes every time I end turn. It is 175something and I'm actually winning

Fufufufufufufugugugugugufugugufufahahahshahshshahahahaha!!!!!!!!

For some strange reason Turkey does not want Konya liberated to them - they are my vassals (just capitulated) and there are no enemy troops nearby. They accepted 2 of their other cities back, and still desires to get Jerusalem and Istanbul - why not Konya too?

Edit: In general, I really can't figure out the system when it comes to liberations. At one point I could liberate freaking Dublin to Egypt. Not only gift it to them, but liberate it to them. What the..? :)

Am I supposed to get all this happy without a theatre or coliseum?

I couldn't find this on previous pages, so have to ask:
When Corinth is founded on marble t does not get additional hammers from city tile upon discovery of masonry, until you whip something in the city; then it works as intended

Yeah, I didn't post this when Leoreth was away, but here it is. Also even when the tile bonuses are correct the production calculation is wrong:

I was pretty sure it was unintended
Yeah, I don't see where this culture happiness should come from. Was a building with this effect recently destroyed in the city?

And yeah, I probably should make tech discoveries update the tile yields and those of their cities accordingly.

I believe the culture slider has always given +1:) per po, if you are using the culture slider for happiness without a need for culture that is a very expensive way to get happiness in comparison buying luxury resources from AIs or using units and dynasticism is usually much cheaper.

No, I rolled Viking start, built no culture happiness buildings and had the culture turned up to pop borders to Iceland. Then started wondering why I hadn't hit happy cap.
