Bug reports and technical issues

Oh, right :mischief:

I think there's a problem with the display on the eco screen
Spoiler :

I can confirm that I'm making 13 gold total, but all of it comes from specialists (plus modifiers from markets and grocers)
Sorry to come back to this so late, can you clarify your situation for a bit? The interface is kind of hard to make out. You are earning 13 gold total all from specialists, but the overall breakdown says 10 gold from taxes and 3 gold from specialists while the tooltip says 9 gold from specialists?

Where do the 4 gold come from that are not included in the tooltip?

If you still have the save it would help a lot.

Also, unless I'm missing something, I just found out that I can't build castles.

Have you discovered Economics already?

I don't think the Roman unique power (30% reduction cost for buildings in capital) is working correctly.
I've checked and it does.

The Roman UP does not reduce building costs for buildings in capital, it increases production speed for all buildings already in your capital.

Here's a doozy - I'm England, I completed the Trireme quest before the Renaissance to give Harbors +2 commerce, I advance to the Renaissance and begin colonising, my old Harbors give bonus commerce fine, but my new, auto-built Harbors don't! I wonder why?

Not sure, but isn't this the way these quests work? That only buildings that already exist are affected?

Missing text key: TXT_KEY_STABILITY_BARBARIAN_LOSSES
Will be fixed with the next commit.

Do you have the Python exception display for that? See the first post in this thread if you don't know what that is.

Confucian Male 0 weddings are really unpopular in Persia (crossposted from the screenshots topic).
The 10th century is probably a bit early for gay marriage, so I see why they're upset

Thought I had fixed this one, will take a look at it again.

Copied the text keys from BtS again to overwrite the seemingly identical ones from DoC and it works. Not sure why but who cares.

You're absolutely right, and the 4 gold are from markets and grocers, here's the save from a slightly later date where the problem remains.

The castle problem was a mistake on my part, I thought I got engineering from trade but actually no one was willing to trade it with me because I didn't have enough to offer.

Thanks! Have to go sleep now, but will look into it at the next opportunity.

I was originally getting a crash on startup, but now that I've patched BtS and Dawn of Civ to their latest versions, and removed RFC vanilla from the mod folder, I keep getting this error every time I try to load the mod.

Help please?

Have you reinstalled DoC after all the other changes that have been necessary?

I never installed it in the first place, I only extracted the folder to the mod folder of BtS. However, I'm guessing you mean deleting all the DoC files I have and redownloading and extracting the file?

EDIT: I tried doing that, and it solved the problem. Thanks for the speedy help!

Yes, that's what I meant. Good to know it works now!

Every single time I load my games as Vikings I get those:

File "CvWBInterface", line 18, in writeDesc

File "CvWBDesc", line 1533, in write

File "CvWBDesc", line 463, in write

UnicodeEncodeError: 'latin-1' codec can't encode character u'\u0443' in position 14: ordinal not in range(256)
ERR: Python function writeDesc failed, module CvWBInterface

I think I should inform you that my encoding (codepage? unicode range?) is cyrillic and, despite I run english version of BtS, all umlaut (and so on) characters are replaced by local ones, such as "д". Which, of course, is not comfortable, but it wasn't altering or spoiling gameplay, until now

I think whoever designed how cyrillic systems handle unicode hasn't thought things through very well. Still, you'd expect stuff that is wrongly encoded in unicode to accurately decode from it as well. Unfortunately I don't have experience with cyrillic and how to maybe change the decoding to the latin character set - anyone else here have any idea about that?

I don't know too. I have a Cyrillic encoding and, for example, cities on the screen are displayed normally but they are not in different menus. If a leader name has a Unicode symbol, his name is shortened, for example, Atatürk becomes Atat.

This is less of a bug and more of a general observation but the AI seems to still be way outperforming where it should be on marathon starts in at least the 600 AD map (The 3000 BC map often used to be worse). I was hoping for actually balanced (or at least competitive) American starts after a break from RFC but by the late 18th century at least 2 of the colonial powers are already industrialized with infantry, most recently in my game England and Portugal.

I got the Statue only from cheating for GE and more techs. I'm not entirely sure how to slow them down honestly, at least they haven't taken over North America yet France just got here a year after I spawned; but Mexico, Peru, and the East Coast are under British control while most of South America is colonized by Portugal.

Raising Settler cost likely won't do much, and increased tech costs can cause lots of unexpected term problems. My uneducated guess is that the lack of competition is allowing an easier than it should be establishment of large empires. I don't quite know how to solve that though especially because the normal timer games seem to be fine.

On an unrelated note why is Atlanta still a swamp?
