Bug Reports and Technical Issues

No, no, I never use Varietas. Never had issues before. Did everything like always -- updated SVN and all this started!

Have you manually modified one of the files in the repo? Did the update report any files being in conflict (you can check again by doing another update)?

I only enabled Polynesia to be active civ , and after those XML errors (they are mostly about civics by the way) I have manually erased question marked file and did SVN 1000 update again. The worst thing is that no one else is reporting a problem, and I am pretty sure my regular BTS files are clean, because I could load DoC before the update (rev 999 works fine).

Basically, I can even start the game, but no civics are anywhere, not in F3 screen, nor even in Pedia.

Does the \ and / appear correctly to you? I thought it all has to be / in file address.

It's not about your regular BtS files. Are you sure you have resolved all conflicts (files with exclamation marks)? In particular, it seems that your DLL is not up to date with your XML files: the error message indicates that the data model for something (I would assume civics) in the DLL does not match the contents of the XML.

Not sure what caused your files to be in conflict in the first place. It's usually if the folder you have in place is changed in some way from the state of the revision you're on: the SVN client cannot decide if you want to keep your local changes or the revision you're just updating to. Depending on the editors you've used, even inspecting files could count as modifying them.

If nothing else helps, a clean checkout of the repository should get rid of the problem.

Thank you for this, and I am really puzzled myself. I noticed that PublicMaps became Private in this SVN, but surely that cannot be a problem. I will try clean checkout tonight.

Nope, the maps shouldn't be the problem here. Fingers crossed for the clean checkout.

Not a bug per say, but what exactly determines whether indy Hamburg or indy Lubeck spawns in northern Germany?
Just random chance, I think it's Lübeck in 1 out of 4 games. I've always wanted to extend this randomization to other independent spawns where the location isn't critically important.

Is graphical paging turned on? You might want to turn it off otherwise, it can lead to MAFs on some machines.

Otherwise I have no idea. If you have another computer available somewhere you could try that one to rule out hardware problems of some sort.

Thanks again. Worked perfectly for me. No crash in about 5 hours!

Another possible mini-bug: Saigon is not part of Indochina for Japans 2nd UHV.

Private maps prevents the DoC maps from showing up when you play another mod or base BtS.

All is well. Clean checkout took care of the problems. I had one more idea -- when one changes BUG's default settings -- those affected files do not get updated during the updates. Perhaps there is a link between the BUG and my bug.

BUG causes bugs? I'm not happy about the BUG settings file being under version control in general but there is no other way to get it to people who do a clean checkout. I don't know how it would impact XML parsing though.

Something is engineeringly wrong with Dikes. Pedia says they need a river to be built, but one can build them, say, in Colombo, with no rivers.

City screen (unlike the main interface) has the Gold +/- buttons, which are grey. One would either need to make them functional or remove them. Alternatively main interface needs to get those buttons.

I think it's an or condition.

I think it's an or condition.

Well, it does not say it. Additionally, it is replacing river-bound Levee with the only (vanila National Wonder powerful) effect of adding hummers to coast tiles. If Levees are on rivers, Dikes logically should be too.

Dike is probably strongest UB.
Levees are strong buildings so it makes big difference, if city is by river or not.
To make cities less river dependent I have to possible options:
1. Levee(and dike) affects only tiles next to city, (the 3x3 area).
2. Levee can build be when there is access to any water, like dike.

There seems to be something massively screwy with tech cost in my Japan game.
Examples
Advanced Flight costs 11812 whereas the next tech, flight, costs 4567
Superconductors costs 14764 whereas the next tech, genetics costs 4410
