Narz' question list reminded me of something I saw on the way home yesterday, a regular-sized bumpersticker on a fairly average Toyota sedan (driven by what appeared to be a middle-aged female) that read:
SOMEONE I LOVE WAS MURDERED!
Now I understand grieving for a loved one, obviously, and I know that there's usually a point to putting a bumpersticker on a car - you either want to show people that something you belong to is popular, or make people laugh, or communicate/repeat a meme. This one, I don't get at all, and frankly can't even figure out what the mindset would be of someone that wanted to communicate that to the driving public.
Are they saying that murder is bad? That we should be careful not to murder people because it makes their loved ones sad/angry? That we should give this car a wide berth because the driver might be unstable or suicidal? That we should force the car off a tall bridge or something to put the driver out of her misery?
What could possibly motivate someone to stick that on their bumper, and more scary still, where does one get a bumpersticker like that in the first place? Are they mass-produced somewhere?
