C2C - Civics Discussion Thread

Also, on the first post, before 'Changes', could you post the current Govt civic, and then under that the Proposed, so it would be easier for everyone to chime in on what you are planning without having to look over a few pages to figure out what is what? (This might bring up unique issues of people hopping in and putting their 2 cents in then jumping out. But it might make informed discussion about them easier. Also, depending on what your definition of 'Current Civics' is, I could make that list for you (as I have only the newest release running, not SVN currently), and you could just update it to what is on the SVN. Then proposed would be what we are currently hammering out?)

Edit: Hmm, I guess I should be more specific. Since we are working on balance too, well, you guys are. I feel that the current bonuses and disadvantages of each civic should be under the name. This way it will be easier for you guys to argue about balance. Again, I can write up that list with release stats, I suppose I could update the SVN and do it from that. But I'm not sure we've reached a consensus on everything that has been added to the SVN, as I don't know what has been added :)
So, post what the civics do in the first post? Sure, but I've almost had enough typing for today.:lol: I'll get to it tomorrow. And I highly recommend you get SVN. It just helps fix things (or in my case, break things) that should've been fixed before. I can't imagine getting a new version only every 4 months, too long. :whew: (Jeez, that sounded like an Apple fanboy :lol:)
BTW, I put all planned civics in first post.

Also, if anyone and everyone could post some save games here, I'd appreciate it. I need to do some research on the Revolutions.

I have the SVN, I just didn't update. Every time I do it seems something is broken, right now I get a ton improvement errors per turn (When I load my older saves).

Cool, the first post is looking good. Wow, there are a lot, it's going to take you quite some time to balance them out, but it should be cool.

That is NOW fixed, just update again.

Look at Vokarya's style how he does certain charts on CFC, looks pretty easy, and really looks good, could YOU do that in your 1st Post, thx.

I'm not sure how to do it like he did, with rows and all.

For the lists, The first attached pic shows which buttons do that.

For Tables, you make a spreadsheet, copy it to the forum, and then use the button in the second pic.

Did you do the update yet? I don't see it.

Also I noticed the city limits have not been put back to what they were. Despotism and Monarchy are WAY too high. Please put them back to the levels they were agreed upon before.
I have an update ready to go. @Strategyonly, for the leaders starter civics, I need "OLIGARCHY" removed, and "OBEDIENCE" added. I can release new Power and Rule civics once you're set. Thanks :)

So before i do this, let me make sure i am going to do it correct: You are actually asking me to "replace" Oligarchy with Obedience on ALL LH's, correct?

Then once your done with that i need to completely re-do all the Initial Civics in the CivilizationInfo files, correct?

Yes. I'm not sure if you can do it now, but if you want, you can enter in all the civics that will be used, right now. In the future, all of these will be needed as starter civics:
Spoiler :

-OBEDIENCE
-NOPOWER
-UNORGANIZEDLABOR
-VIGILANTISM
-NONE
-COMMUNUALLAND

You are correct, "we" more or less have to be in unison. Meaning as soon as YOU put yours IN the SVN, i have to re "right" behind you in doing my part, but you are correct, yours has to be first.

Okay, my part is in. Now, you're "up to bat". ;)

I see BOTH of these in your NEW civics?

Dont ya think we need a few more in-between, these are along ways from each others (see attached)

I suspect the problem with the numbers is that an actual change in attitude of 1 actually takes lots more than 1 to take affect. Attitude is one variable but it is changed through another variable. in Python we loop through adding 1 until the actual attitude changes by 1. IE the display is showing the wrong item:crazyeye:

Something wrong with the latest SVN

Mine is like that also, i believe HE is not done doing them yet and is just using these as a placeholder.

From the looks of the Civics.py it can hold only 15 civics? I haven't looked how many there is yet. Plus your adding to the Top and Bottom also.

Code:
		self.USER_ADJUSTMENT = 15 # default 100

Spoiler :
Code:
self.HEADINGS_TOP = 0
	#	self.HEADINGS_BOTTOM = 220 Never Used
		self.HEADINGS_LEFT = 0
		self.HEADINGS_RIGHT = 260
		self.HELP_TOP = 20
		self.HELP_BOTTOM = 610
		self.HELP_LEFT = 290
		self.HELP_RIGHT = 950
		self.BUTTON_SIZE = 24
		self.BIG_BUTTON_SIZE = 64
		self.BOTTOM_LINE_TOP = 630
		self.BOTTOM_LINE_HEIGHT = 60
		self.Y_EXIT = 726
		self.Y_CANCEL = 726
		self.Y_SCREEN = 396
		self.H_SCREEN = 768
		self.Z_SCREEN = -6.1
		self.Y_TITLE = 8
		self.Z_TEXT = self.Z_SCREEN - 0.2
		self.TEXT_MARGIN = 11			# original = 15

This was MY original civics screen, but i haven't worked on it i over 2 years, so i forgot everything .

Please stop adding Maintenance costs over 25%. 30-75% kills AI and Player

Please stop adding WW over 25%. Same here as above.

Please stop adding :mad: to tax rates using % below 25. Stop crippling Republic, Democracy, what used to be Federal, etc. with these rates.

We went thru this before. Now we're doing it again. C'mon man!

It seems as if you all are just throwing numbers in cause you think it's "cool". Please! Take a look at what has been done and used in the past. At what works and use that as a template. You can Not do Civics like you can do Buildings.:nono:

Frustration levels rising, Warning, Warning! :trouble:
