C2C SVN Changelog

Exactly. Seas paths reveal info about unknown land.

But as I do exploration by hand because the auto function is so bad:mischief: most of the time I am clicking into the unreveled areas to reduce the micro management. So still allow me to pick an plot in the middle of unknown territory, just fix the path routine so it goes in a "short/straight" line when it reaches the unknown area. I would think that would just require unknown plots to "just" have a very high movement cost.

That's actually harder than it sounds. Try the automation again - it should be improved. If it still sucks in desrcibable ways post, because anything that can be done to improve it helps the AI explore too so it's well worth while.

Edit - think of it as motivation to get the automation improved ;) If people find that the automation is not good enough (in ways they can decsribe) and I can't improve it after feedback, then I'll relent and let humans have their cheat back.

What's the 'real' world justification for JCs ever finding gem anyway?? Isn't this more a mine-thing? <snip> I'm just curious as to why jungle camps would lead to finding gems (as opposed to things like spices, fruit, etc.)

Actually the same justification as the California Gold Rush. They didn't mine the gold 1st that they found in streams and rivers they panned it 1st. The same has occurred in Jungles since the beginning of recorded history. The 1st Diamond finds in Africa were not mine found they were found the same way. The Gold rush in Bolivia or Ecuador of recent years wasn't from mining but from the ppl cutting back the Jungle to farm and then the monsoons created mudslides that revealed the gold and other gems and other metals. Mining generally only occurs After the initial discoveries. Not mining and Then finding the resource. That is a modern day phenomena.

Also Jungles up until the last 2 centuries covered much more of the planet and over a wide variety of terrains.

That's a quick overview of the reasons Vincentz put for the discovery of gems, gold, and originally silver in the JC's % of finding a resource, of which other types of resources are also included. He lived in Thailand and the jungle there for many years which inspired him to make the JC Modmod for RoM and then AND.

Mod history, I love it!

Was it also removed from Jungle camp? Which gives a % chance of discovery? If so then JC is getting weaker again.

In my current ongoing game (v20 into v21) I've had several JC's produce the different gemstone resources (Rubies, Jade, and sapphire iirc) beside the generic gemstone. Now that's being removed?

This should be moved to a different thread I think for discussion.

DH wanted Gems resource to be removed from the map and instead focus on the other resources like Rubies or Jade. Gems are still in the game but as a building produced resource.

The others still need to change Gems so it won't spawn on the map or generate from a mine (or jungle camp). Resources like Jade or Rubies should still do what the old Gems resource did.

Updates
- Cavalry, Cossack, Camel Gunner, Apache Cavalry, Mountie and Outlaw can now upgrade to both Gunship and Armored Car.
- Llanero can now upgrade to both Gunship and Armored Car.
- Zebra Cavalry can now upgrade to both Gunship and Armored Car.
- Mechanized Infantry now upgrades to Tesla Infantry, Special Infantry and High-Tech ACP.

Updates
- Allow Crusader units to get city bonus XP. (I think)
- Adjust Biodome for C2C Animals (part 1) and city XP.
- Fix Empire State Building code
- Fix Great Bath/Temple of the Jaguar mix up in python.

Pushed to SVN today:
  • Fixed bug in dynamic civ naming that sometimes casued names like (my game example) 'Turkish empire%s of Visigoth'
  • Made AI worker valuation take account of work rate!
  • Reworked unit trade evaluation extensively (see details in one of the stickied threads)

Just pushed to SVN:
  • Experimental changes to how unit graphics are handled, but disabled . Right now the gains don't justify the extra complexity (and therefore bug risk), but the code is now present and can be turned on in the future if we wish to.

  • Any chance of activating these soon? I just stumbled across these by accident and it seems to be a few weeks old.

Not planning to at all really. The gains were very small, and the complexity risk is not insignificant. The removal of the building graphics according to the global define I added at the same time (which is activated, and indeed used by default) saved much more and is very very low risk.

I completely agree here, thats why i activated it, very nice touch btw;)
