C3C-mac ships tomorrow! (Dec14)

For those of you who need a fix... Right away!
Smalldog.com in Waitsfield, VT has six in stock and they do ship. I don't know if you can cancel an order with Amazon, but there's a possibility to avoid any bloodshed (no matter how well deserved...) on the USPS.

No joy in SoCal. As of Monday, January 16th, it still hasn't hit local shelves. Checked both CompUSA and the Apple Store.

My original prediction of Friday, January 13th was crushed (and so am I). Double bad: Friday the 13th is usually a lucky day for me, too...

Well, as soon as I've had a shower, I'm off to do some screaming at the post office. Wish me luck.

So first, I have to argue with them to even get them to check (due to the date on the note). Then they don't want to give it to me because it's my wife's name on the package, and I have to argue about that. When I brought up the lack of any actual delivery attempt, I think the guy just wanted to get rid of me - so I've got it.

Installing as soon as I win my war with the packaging...

Oh man, I HATE these types of petty clerks who's only glory in life is to power trip on THEIR customers.

:aargh:

:ar15:

First note - contrary to what I had understood Brad to say (apparently I misinterpreted), the OS requirement appears to be hard - it won't even start under 10.2.8. Over to the iBook...

Second note - there doesn't appear to be any section on "what's new since vanilla" in the PDF manual (which, inexplicably, doesn't have a table of contents). Since I don't feel like reading 200+ pages of old stuff to get the new stuff, I'll be more or less winging it based on what I know from around here (which is admittedly pretty comprehensive, I think).

Third note - said manual is titled "Civilazation 3 Complete Manual." Oopsie.

Yeah, neither Denver store has it, either, as of Tuesday noon. I'm about to break down and order from Amazon. In fact, I started an order last night, and got offered 30 bucks off if I signed up for an Amazon.com VISA card through Citibank. I thought, "Hey! C3C for only 20 bucks!" But somewhere between the fine print that said "you agree to Amazon and Citibank sharing your personal information with third parties" and being asked to type in my social security number and send it over the internet, I chickened out and decided to wait until I was of sound mind and body.

But of course that hasn't happened yet.

Still no Civ III Complete at the Apple Store here in the Mall of America. I'll post when I see it in our stock room.

Do you work at an Apple store? If so, do your shipments all come from a central distribution point, and if so, will all Apple stores get theirs at about the same time?

If yes, I'll stop hounding the poor souls at my neighbrhood stores, and wait for your post.... :coffee:

The Apple Store in Rochester, NY (Eastview Mall store) has a few, at least as of yesterday. Mine is sitting on the kitchen table -- today's my birthday, and my wife managed to get a copy for me, but it's wrapped and she's making me wait until she gets home to open it!

Luckily, I'm a patient person....

Apple Store in Boston still doesn't have it. But they DO have the new iMacs. They are sweet.

Amazon are now listing my eta as Jan 24 - Feb 1. It's probably changed just because the previous estimate has been overtaken. I suspect they've simply moved it later by 2 weeks to stop it looking too silly, so I really don't believe this date any more than the previous one. :(

That'll be Amazon US? Amazon UK are not shipping yet as far as I know.

Yes, I do work at an Apple Store :)

As far as distribution of non-Apple products, I would assume the stores would get them around the same time. Software comes in reusable gray bins and they'll just throw odds and ends in there - so the next time a store gets a shipment (which is about everyday) they could simply throw a few in after determining the store is low or out on a particular item.

I'd give the Michigan Ave or SoHo stores (the really big Apple Stores) the upper hand if only just because they have more room for more items on the shelves. (MoA is larger than some, but nowhere near the size of Chicago's, San Fran's, or New York's flagship stores.)

That said, another software store (e.g. CompUSA) could easily get C3C for the Mac earlier than us. (Everything in the store is also available from Apple.com. Since C3C is on there, that's at least a good sign.)

Really? I've always been told Apple employees are forbidden to identify themselves as such online. Maybe it's a local rule?

My gosh... had I known that this would be such a big deal, I would have gladly picked up copies for some of you while I was at Macworld and shipped them off!

I will consider myself fortunate to be able to play C3C whenever I wish.

Hmmm. I haven't been able to find it on Apple.com. I just did a search for civilization on the "made4Mac" tab, then the gaming link. I also scrolled through the "Just added" list of titles, and that didn't turn up anything either.

EDIT: Never mind. Found it in the online store....
