C3C PBEM : Rise of Rome - scenario-based PBEM

170BC sent to Hannibal
battle log=none
Alexander, answer to offer=Nuts to you!
Loulong, you two-timer, either declare war or remove your spyship

165BC sent to IronDuck
battle log=HC kills wounded HC near Bactra
HC kills wounded HC near Bactra and goes veteran
Army kills elite HC near Arbela
Galley loses to wounded elite Galley
elite Galley kills wounded elite Galley

according to the combat calculator a Numidean Mercenary fortified in a city behind a river has a defensive rating of 6.3 and should win about 2 out of 3 battles with an attacking HC--I wonder how the RNG gods will treat me next turn.

Errr...those of you who insist upon bringing lots of sharp, pointy things with you are NOT invited!

You'd better surrender now, I just found all of Saddam's WMDs!!!
And Leprosy has been reported in Arbela!
How about if we barrage you with nude pictures of Hilary Clinton?
I know--a band of Tyrolean ski-troopers just arrived and they are very mean, so stay away!
oh, whatever.

You got another leader? Man, you are a lucky one. :) But these Immortals indeed look like Civ3 alpine troops a bit.

Accept my offer and your life would be spared! You would be able to leave with all treasures, a band of bodyguards, and all your wives to India which is off the map btw!

The Celts? Search me! They simply just disappeared one day. Rumors were that the didn't like the neighbors and lit out over the ocean for quieter lands?
Yeah! That must be it! Just ignore all the bloodstains on Roman togas.

New turn started.

The threats from Persia against peaceful sea trade have been punished. Up to Persia now to know whether it is enough or whether Egypt should add its (trading) weight to Macedonian power.

LouLong, you are a liar, I made no threats against you. I gave you tech on your promise to repay but then you lied and said I gave it for free. I gave you Iron for a mere 3gpt because you said we were friends but that was a lie because you then offered your help to Alexander in taking my cities. You entered my territory without asking and call my demand that you leave 'a threat'--more lies. You call whatever it is that you did "punishment" because you want to hide your guilt. Win some, lose some, it don't matter--playing like you have some integrity matters--and you don't have any.

Poor Egypt has been suffering for a long time under the oppression of its huge and angry and greedy neighbor Persia. Now they are free and finally can expand a little bit. Isn't it nice? BTW, Macedon have not instigated the attack of Egyptian troops on Persian cities. But of course, we fully accept their result. The weaker the Persian empire is, the easier is our task of eliminating them!

Morale: Don't underestimate your neighbor. They may seem small and weak but may be cunning and brave indeed!

I would say: Egypt :goodjob:

@Persia: Do you have a formal diplomatic agreement so that you can compain of treachery? I'm trading with Egypt for a long time and still have no such agreement in a clear form!

It will be difficult to prove as we have had no ongoing deals for the last - what ? - 20 turns or so ?

@ Akots : thanks for the use of "cunning", I take it (here) as a compliment.

@ Rocinante: you should be glad. That's one city that won't add to the power of Macedonia, see ? :-)
