I agree that the tide seems to be turning against Russia. Blitzkrieg is the German way but I've accomplished this more with troop transports and units that can be carried in them than in building tanks. I think I have 18 troop transports which means I can chain them to send troops right across my territory and still attack on the same turn. I also have a lot of workers and slaves on the front lines so that I can rebuild roads immediately as I attack. They can be carried in the transports if necessary as well. This makes it possible to exploit deep into enemy territory in a single turn. I also build radar towers before attacking which helps a lot too. I've got a couple troop transport planes which are also useful as they can fortify newly captured cities with fresh troops that can attack if necessary.
I'm hoping to capture Moscow within the next couple turns. If I take away all the wonders in it, this should destroy the Russians will to fight.
I don't necessarily think the scenario is unbalanced, because the tactics I've used are available to all civs. I wouldn't mind playing Russia with the same rules as I think it has the potential to give Germany a very good fight. As Botman says, with its cheap units, it should be able to eventually outproduce Germany and win the battle of attrition. There are a lot of technologies and units that have the potential to give Russia and the allies an advantage.
I was curious to see if anything happened to my Scharfschutze unit that took the airfield by Moscow. I get one of them autoproduced every 13 turns. The stats say it is invisible so I was wondering if you could see it in order to know to attack it.
I left the Scharfschutze alone because it has 20 defense and I had no good units to attack with. What kind of historical unit does this troop refer to by the way?
I think you have played very well Spartaca! I dont think though that the same strategy could be applied by the allies or Russia. Their troops simply are not good enough the first 15 turns to benefit from advancing deep into enemy territory.
