CapNES2: The New Shuffle

As long as the French condemn and reject Spain's plans to support the terrorists in Quebec, we won't have a problem - or a war.

The Quebecois who want freedom are terrorists? Do you happen to hire five year olds in your offices? We are merely helping the Quebecois pursuit the common cause of freedom, equality, and fraturnity!

And since does "we will offer supplies" translate into weaponry? It could be food, medical items, machinry. If we were to contribute to the Quebecois, we certainly won't aid the bloodshed with direct weaponry. The Quebecois can make those themselves.

Well, Spain says they won't ship arms, just food and medicine. We don't see anything wrong with that... and the Prime Minister has been out of the country visiting British colonies since Friday, so until he returns we cannot make definite commitments to anything.

Lacking orders from Kejixu, Jason the King, Stormbringer, and Texas Toast.

Russian Republic promised to back France diplomatically and (if needed) militarily. Even if it means a war with a third power - something we by no means intend - we will stand by France. In the event of war between the French Empire and ANY other power or powers, Russia will be obliged to support France militarily. We hope that this is clear.

The French Empire does not support any terrorist organization. The French Empire, however, does support its allies, and if the United Kingdom is going to use an alligation with no proof to it in order to hamper the trade shipping of an ally of France, France will intervene and will take all necessary measures against the United Kingdom.

IF Quebecois wish to persue those things, then it would make sense for them to partake in the Parlimentry system. Now you may have ahard time understanding this, as your governance system happens to be by rule of King.

At NO point did we say that you supported them with 'weapons'. We said, and I quote

"We are saddened to see you support such extremists, how would you feel if I supported Basque Extremists in your country?"

And yes, they are terrorists if and when they cause the loss of life, grieviance of harm or any thing else resulting from their violent policies.

If however you wish to supply the nation as a whole, that is ok. Supplying an organisation with clear terrorist ties is idiocy. Indirect support of the cause is still support.

We urge you to talk to the Spainish over their position concerning terrorists.

Update 1 - Year 1890

Non-Military Events:

1890. The last decade of the nineteenth century, a century of war, espionage, revolution, and most importantly, change. But as various leaders around the world realize the century is not over, we realize that the words that defined most of this century... will most likely define the rest of it.

In a move to "increase diversity" in eastern Canada, the Prime Minister announced that the government would be relaxing it's policies on immigration. This is met with wide popularity from the Liberals in Parliament and a huge influx of immigrants from Italy and Poland provided new people to work in factories in the growing industrial areas. This caused a boom in the economy (+1 Economy), but a sharp increase in crime (apparently from organized Italian gangs) was noticed in major cities such as Ottawa and Toronto.

An extreme-right wing nationalist party known as Colombia Nueva (New Colombia) is now in power in the politically unstable South American state. But worry grows as an ultra right-wing leader takes the post of Prime Minister and vows to create the most powerful nation in South America.

A group of Spanish surveyors attempted to find a way to industrialize the Pyrnees mountain range, but further surveying found the entire area to be too mountainous to establish any real industrial base there.

In Poland, serious reforms were carried out. The King, to the dismay of his extended royal family, declared that the monachy was 'worn out' and instated a new parliament. While monarchy loyalists condemned the move as the destruction of the Kingdom, the royal family of Poland soon found out that they had much more to fear than democracy... (See spotlight) (-16 HRE divisions, -13 Polish Divisons, -8 HRE Squadrons, -all of Poland's navy, +30 Polish Conscript divisions)

Throughout the Ottoman Empire, a massive royal campaign to win the confidence and respect of it's subjects have begun. But in the empire's southern African territories, mass protests have been held that rebuked the 'propaganda' and demanded independence from the Turks.

The Spanish, too, launched a campaign to unify their empire. Construction began on a new, centralized railroad system. The benefits of a modern railway increased the public's support of their King. (+1 Confidence) The Spanish government, possibly following the Polish example, announced that various politicians were considering drafting a constitution. But without a war to unify the nation, the move was very unpopular among the royal family. The King did not issue a statement, but it is expected he will side with his relatives and shoot down this idea... (-1 Confidence)

In Madgascar, the French begin a series of construction works that will modernize and industrialize the large African island.

Military Events:

A pan-Slavic movement has begun gaining popularity among Bulgarian 'patriots' in the Ottoman Empire...

In India, a loyal Indian officer informed his superiors that an Indian peasants were specfically approaching Indian officers in the army, trying to convince the soldiers that they were being used by the British. This news alarmed British Colonial Governor Charles Barnet, and he has sent a request to Parliament to re-enforce India with more British soldiers to be prepared for mass betrayal.

Following the mass protests in the southern African territories, a rebellion has broke out in the Ottoman Empire. A militant Christian group calling itself the, "Hand of Christ" has begun attacking Ottoman patrols in Ethiopian villages.

(-2 Ottoman divisions)

A world war almost seemed sure to begin when the Spanish King declared his public support of the PLQ, a terrorist group seeking to liberate Quebec from the "Anglo-Saxon pigs." The British government, who's Prime Minister was away on diplomatic duties, declared that they would intercept any Spanish ships nearing Canadian waters and search them for weapons. To make things worse, the Emperor of France warned the English that any attack on Spanish shipping would lead to France declaring war on Britain. Following France's statement, the Ottoman Empire re-iterated it's full support for the British. As if things couldn't seem to get any worse, the Russian government announced it's total and complete support for the French.

The battle lines seemed drawn and the world's greatest military minds were back at work, preparing to fight in the greatest war seen since Napoleon... But it was not to be. Wanting to avert an obviously horrible war, the British monarch himself went to Spain to reach an agreement with the Spanish king. In the end, the Spanish backed down and said that they would only aid the people of Quebec with food and medicine. Still, this crisis has reminded the world of the fragility of peace on the continent.

A fragility that was soon to be shattered.

Random Events:

With the revealing of France's new cabinet, the popularity of the King and his government increases. (+1 Confidence)

In Persia, a neo-cultural renaissance begins... (+1 Culture)

The Holy Roman Empire invades Poland.

"It is inevitable!"
- Emperor Erich von Blitzenhower, speech to Parliament. Year 1890.

There are some nations that simply don't like each other. Take the Holy Roman Empire and the neighboring Kingdom of Poland, for example. For the last couple of decades, the Kingdom of Poland and the Holy Roman Empire have been at a cold peace. Poland has for long suspected that war with German was inevitable. The Germans had never forgotten the humiliation and defeat they had suffered at the hands of the French, who, in their alliance with Poland, had conquered many ethnically German lands and handed them over to the Kingdom. Most Germans chose to flee west rather than live in a foreign land under a foreign ruler. Many German exiles had hoped to live to see the day when they would return to their homes in the east... and little did they know, that day was soon. On March 9th, a large German fleet was spotted off the coast of Kolobrzeg. When a battleship was sent to contact and question the ranking officer in charge of the fleet, it never came back. But the Poles did receive an answer. In the form of gunpowder.

The German fleet began bombarding the coast of the city. Messengers were scuttled back and forth from Kolobrzeg to Warsaw, and it was revealed that the German fleet was attacking positions and cities throughout the Polish coast. This was indeed total war. The German and the Polish fleets met in the Baltic Sea, near the Swedish island of Bornholm. For six long hours, the two fleets clashed, until finally and not without heavy loss, the German fleet prevailed. Poland was now open to invasion.

But this wasn't exactly a surprise attack. It seems the Polish had anticipated a land invasion from the west and months before had begun building a series of fortifications to protect themselves. Things did not go as well as planned; only more than half of the fortifications were built, but somehow, this was enough to stop the Germans from totally overrunning Poland. When the Polish received word of the German bombardment of the coast, the Parliament ordered all divisions stationed in the west to leave the unfortified areas, as they had already fell, and go to defend the fortifications that had so far stopped the Germans. In the northwest, the Germans had indeed advanced far. In the southeast, the Germans, after days of bloody battle finally broke through the fortifications... only to find themselves again at a stalemate. But The trench warfare unseen for years had returned. But with superior training and numbers on the Germans' side, it does not seem like the Poles will be in the trenches for that long...

Days after the invasion, a force of around 130,000 men landed on the devastated coast of Poland, taking control of the coast and not meeting organized resistance, starts pushing south. In the capital of Warsaw, a King rallies his rattled Kingdom. On the outskirts of Warsaw, a huge German force advances... the siege of Warsaw has begun.

Btw - you sure you didn't forget anything? ;) But supposedly, you didn't.

*is somewhat surprised that SDN didn't attack him yet*

@capulet-Great Update, just a couple of mistakes: Poland still has a navy in the stats, you didn't grow my economy, you didn't start my technology.

@all-Well the max industrial you really need is 8, because the limit per spending on each branch of the military is 4, so 4 on army and 4 on navy. Once you get an airforce, the max you need is 12, 4 on army, 4 on navy, and 4 on airforce.

(OC: Capulet, you forgot to spend my industry, please. I wanted to poke it all on producing specialized Home Guard units, my UU. And my education should be Academic.)

Cool Update.

Umm since Poland is part of an alliance, are the other nations at war with HRE now? o_0

das: No, I didn't forget anything in the update... but things happened that weren't mentioned.

Conehead234: Yeah, I have to fix that. I was up pretty late and while I was posting stats, my mom woke up and started screaming at me. :( Also, your economy was not grown because you have to spend six industry points to grow it. You did not say to do so.

Toteone: There is nothing in your orders about spending your industry points. Not to mention you can't grow economy and spend economy levels in the same turn.

Alex994: I didn't carry out most of your orders because you are supposed to use eco. points to raise training and ind. points to get units. Yes, you were abusing the rules. I didn't really know to what extent until I read your orders.

Continue to point out mistakes, guys.

The Grand Coalition (UK, Poland, Ottoman Empire, Persian Empire, and China) should be at war with the Holy Roman Empire now. That is, if they choose to honor their alliance.
