Burgundy will of course agree to a defensive alliance with our friends in Paris. And while we are eager to do the same with Flanders, we ask that they first pledge to end their construction of defenses along our border. This project of theirs serves little use other that to waste their valuable resources and threaten Burgundy. It would be a great act of friendship if they were to end work on these fortifications.

If you're going to be that rude, curt and exceedingly casual about declining Our proposals, then We can quite happily turn a blind eye to any of these So Very Fearsome German Republican Rebels that try to come and attack you through Our territory. Therefore you might consider building forts on our border and wasting some more money on that too, as otherwise your fortifications on the border with Burgundy are likely to be pointless.
