Catholics object to chocolate Jesus

Why would they object to this? There is no rule against iconic figures or representations of jesus in christianity.

So who cares?

Ever thought that in western culture, nudity is shunned upon due because nudity equates to sexuality. I dont want to look at a sculpture with another guy's ding dong!

No. Nudity relates to sexuality, sure, but nudity and sexuality are not the same thing.

Together, they are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

FTW! :goodjob:

Intolerant religous fundamentalists strike again

It's like those Danish cartoons all over again...

People have the freedom to do this, and should do, regardless of what other people think.

I would eat a half-naked, chocolate Jesus in a heartbeat.

Look above. Plus the added factor that Jesus is held to such sacredness and respect.

It doesn't matter what you think, banning something because you don't like it is Biggoted Intolerance Frankly I think everytime religous fundamentalists create a stink about something, we should do it more and more until they capitulate

More ******** political correctness...

Break me off a piece of that jesus. I'll start with the fingers.

On a side note, someone commented that Nazareth is well known for making exellent chocolate. Does anyone know wether this is true or not?

I don't remember seeing any chocolate there, but I was busy dodging the rocks being thrown at me by the Palestinian residents. Chocolate spread is commonly used in Israel, but I wouldn't call it excellent chocolate. The best chocolate I found in Israel was made in Europe.

I hope there's a Marzipan Mohammed, a Caramel Khrishna, and a Butterscotch Buddha to encourage tolerance.

Excellent coup de grace with those nude Christ images also.

I am actualy appauled to see my lord and savior to be depicted in an immodest way

My 1st reaction to this was to think that people have too much time on their hands if they are worrying about something so frivolous. The world has much bigger problems to worry about. Reading your comment, I think I understand your point of view.

How is the artwork in bad taste?(no pun intended)

Depicting somebody's messiah in chocolate isn't very respectful. If it was more permanent & sturdy & couldn't melt ot get eaten like wood or stone, this wouldn't be an issue & we could all go back to the regularly scheduled program of trolling & posting silly polls.;)

I love Jesus as much as the next man (assuming that next man isn't Curt) but how is this any more 'immodest' than, say, the Sistine Chapel painting with God and Adam?

The Sistine Chapel was painted by a master artist & has lasted centuries.

It its nude, its most certainly immodest...A naked Jesus is indeed offensive to most people. I myself am appalled to see a nude Jesus, someone whom I see as my lord and savor and hold dear too.

Most people are not Christian. Most Christians don't object to images of Jesus' crucifixion portrayed nude or almost nude. It adds to the sense of hardship he endured.

But nudity doesn't necessarily equate to sexuality! There are a ton of famous works of art that have nudity in it and have nothing to do with sexuality.

No. Nudity relates to sexuality, sure, but nudity and sexuality are not the same thing.

Thank you for pointing that out. Sure, a nude, attractive woman produces a woody, but nudity in general has nothing to do with sex. We're all nude under our clothing. Anyone who has a fixation on it needs to grow up. The human body can be considered beautiful for reasons besides sex.

People have the freedom to do this, and should do, regardless of what other people think.

Of course freedom of speech is vital, but that using it for the purpose of being offensive "regardless of what other people think" is pathetic.

It doesn't matter what you think, banning something because you don't like it is Biggoted Intolerance

Societies ban theft because they don't like it, among other things... Intolerance isn't necessarily bad. Bigotry has nothing to do with it.

Frankly I think everytime religous fundamentalists create a stink about something, we should do it more and more until they capitulate

Very disturbing.

Person One: "I'm going to be a [censored]!"

Persons Two Through Five Hundred: "Please stop being a [censored]."

Persons Five Hundred And One Through Nine Hundred: "Hey, religious persecution! We must protect freedom of speech!"

Person One: *gets rich from interviews and controversy*

Does that chocolate Jesus come with peanuts or is he just happy to see me?

Trinitarians prefer Graham Cracker God and Holy Marshmellow Spirits, too.

Then you have the Trinity Smores!

I think we ought to start a new religion centred around chocolate.
