Cats and Kittens

Lap cat?

My small, white kitten with the huge ears named Mouse has made it his life's work to try and kill me. :scared: His modus operandi is to cross repeated in front of my feet when I'm walking or descending stairs. :ack:

I don't think I've ever seen a cat with that facial expression (referring to the live cat, not the pile of cat hair with the googly-eyes). Not even on the Cheezburger site.

Even Maddy never gets that upset with me.

Suggestions:

1. Hiss at him. If you do it with the right accent and intensity (like a cat, not a snake), chances are he might realize that he needs to get out of your way.

2. If that doesn't work, pick him up and move him out of the way (don't cuddle or pet him when you do this, or he'll figure that's a new way to get attention).

3. If THAT doesn't work, don't be afraid to gently push him out of the way with your foot (trying not to step on him).

4. If you do accidentally step on him, he just might learn not to do this.

Of course there's the first choice, which would be to train the cat to move if you say "Excuse me." I did that with Maddy, but she doesn't move as fast now as she used to (she'll be 14 in June). So sometimes I end up saying, "Can you excuse me a little faster, please?"

If she stops right in front of me for basically no reason other than to wash or scratch, I just hiss at her. This works best with cats who have lived with other cats, since single/only-cats rarely have a reason to hiss or be hissed at.

Early this morning, a most giganticous coconut frond crashed down on the metal roof of the salacot and from there proceeded rapidly to the ground. :run:

Yowling loudly, Poseidon followed by Mouse, sprinted up a coconut tree, across my balcony, cannonballed the screen out of my bedroom window, fled across my room, and leapt out the living room. As Poseidon plummeted past the window boxes, he ripped out claws full of plastic flowers. The four-meter fall didn't hurt him. :p
No one could find Mouse for a time.

No one could find Mouse for a time.

Mouse couldn't jump high enough to come in through the window :bounce:and so he stayed out on my balcony.

Speaking of balconies, my driver had balanced a small house for Mouse atop the street-side 2nd-floor railing. Last night's strong winds swept the house off the railing. It crashed to the ground 4 meters below. In general, my dogs like my cats, but they're smart enough to know cats are not allowed to roam around outside at night. :nono: They gave chase. :eekdance: My driver was awakened by the commotion an rescued the kitten.:scared: Lousy day for Mouse. :help:
