CCM1 (epic mod)

Forgive me, if I got confused on the 1.1 update. I thought it corrected the SPLASH for Capitol. If it was not listed as one of the fixs, ignore this. I have 1.1 and ran into the Captal version. Lucky I had stopped to watch a program I taped yesterday (Life After People), so I had saved and lost nothing.

Well that presumes I have it correct by making the change from "a" to "o".

After all my beefing may I say simply, lauds to Civinator for CCM. Makes for a different experience to most other mods, and the original game.

Civinator, I do have a question for you; other than the art used in CCM can you recommend other art packs one might use? Keep in mind that the Mac edition does not allow editing, though file names can be changed using "Get Info".

I forgot to mention that I could not find the stats for MG Btln. It points to the structure and the wonder point to each other.

I also just found out that you can upgrade the Marine Infantry to a regular Marine, but the pedia did not mention any upgrade.

Does Steph's editor work for the Mac or is even useful without the civ editor?

Is there a city limit in CCM that is lower than the default 512? I have a settler, after Atomic, it is sitting on a desert and does not get the button to a build city. I think there are maybe 150 towns in the game, did not count them though.

Is there a restriction on tiles other than the normal C3C?

yes, as far as I know, you can't settle deserts

I guess that needs to be reflected in the pedia. It says they are just like a normal game.

I was able to squeeze in an hour of play time, and I've got to say, this is a terrific modpack. It keeps the 'feel' of familiarity, yet is completely unique in almost every way.

As the Roman Powerhouse I have become, I have almost crushed Peria as well, and got the Dutch (who had 1 city left) to join in, and they were able to take a Persian city also. Here is the catch though! Initially I figured I would just go on a rampage, but that is not a smart thing to do (I just realized). The workers I do have right now, are having a tough time to be able to keep up with a quick paced conflict. They cannot terraform the land fast enough to keep up with troops. And thus it makes it difficult to keep outer cities well defended. And without defending workers, they get taken out when near borders (as happened a few times). My defenders are needed in cities!

So after Persia, I will have to go to a peacetime stance for some time, to let workers catch up.

I built Coastal Fortresses in all my cities, and I am looking forward to using the Cannon against some unsuspecting victims that stray too close.

There is almost too much to say, so I will just leave it at that. Terrific job Civinator! Definitely well done!

EDIT; Question: What does 50% Luxury Tax do? Does it only increase the money you bring in on tiles that have a luxury on them (if they are worked squares)? The Town Center does this. I don't think any buildings in C3C used this option.

Tom

The marketplace got the 50% Luxury Tax in orginal game. Effect: 3-4 luxury gives 2 happy faces, nr 5-6 gives 3 and 7-8 gives 4.

In CCM there seams to be only 7 though since Ivory is a pure strategic resource (Wrong pedia entry on it though)

I think I'm confusing myself again. I always get these 2 mixed up. There is a 50% Luxury Tax option, and a Increases Luxury Trade option. I think it's the Lux Tax that is not used in original Conquests at all.

(had to look it up here)
The help file states:
+50% Luxury Output (Improvement Flag)
If checked, luxury revenue produced in the city in which the selected improvement is built is increased by 50%.

Increases Luxury Trade (Improvement Flag)
If checked, luxuries present in the city in which the selected improvement is built generate more happy faces, based on the following scale:
(gives scale)

I guess the one with luxury revenue increased by 50%, I guess that means it only increases revenue gained by the actual luxury resource tile (if worked) and not the overall tax revenue. That was the one that I think I remember trying to test once, but never finished.

OR: the game could keep count of all the revenue made specifically by luxury resources that provide bonus gold, and it increases that (if those tiles are worked), but NOT all gold (like the 50% Tax Revenue does).

I think I have to amend my position on Great Artist. I think they need a stiffer nuking. Even if they were lowered to say 100/200 for monks and artist, it may be too much.

The AI seems to like LongBow units and sends a lot of them at my border semi choke. I can get so many artist/monks and slaves. I can bomb them and mostly use elite units to get slave/monks and artist.

I am just stacking up artist for any new town I found or capture. Two things make them a problem:

1) two moves
2) lawyers can traverse terrain types others cannot.

This lets me attack and get out of harms way most of the time. I would expect the AI is not setting up traps and culling units. Lawyers have 6 attack and that makes them beat most attacking units for three ages.

This is only one game, so it may not be indicitive.

Dreadnought pedia entry says they upgrade to Battleships, but they do not. I did not check the editor, but I could not upgrade in a town that can built them. AFAIK you need the resources, cash, harbor and movement.

I found one way to remove a lot of Enslave type units, in one turn. I landed a stack of T34's and they just sent then to die on the tanks. The lack of armies is making invading islands a real pain. I don't forsee wanting to play this mod on an archi map.

I had three straight vet T-34 tanks killed by longbow units. I don't recall ever seeing a LB attack a tank in C3C out in the open field. I guess 7 defense is the cut off for LB??? I would not have expected them to do that well against rifles or even muskets.

Yea, I was about to go to war with Hammurabi but wanted to cancel my RoP treaty first to not get a rephit. As shown I had no option to make deals. Tried abit spying to get him to declare war.... he just was unhappy didnt dare declare war. Finding out I could get in to the tradescreen was just some clicking of frustration where the line should have been (just above "We grow.....")

So there are two questions that of interest for a modder:

a) What let these letters dissapear?
b) What must be done, that these letters appear again?

There were two mistakes with that wondersplash. only one was fixed. I hope now that splash is really fixed. We´ll see. :) Thank you for the report vmxa:)

I have no experiences with handling a Mac, so I fear, here I´m no great help.
One thing about other units for CCM. The CCM betatest mainfile holds a lot of different units, that currently are not part of the mod. These units can be easily activated on the biq. They were part of former versions of the biq, but they were not completely deleted from the biq, as it could be, that game balance can bring them back if needed.

Another pedia upgrade that is not allowed. Sikorsky V to Tupolev SB-2. I can build he SB, but not upgrade the V and I have an airport in that town. I only got roads to it, so I was not able to try the upgrade till now.

Edit:

The pedia show the stats for both as exactly the same?
