CCM1 (epic mod)

Hi,

I am happy to help. :)
As for .ini files, problem is easily solved with rename of folder and .ini file. Just rename it where game is looking for it. :) I guess that user did same thing. I think that I have downloaded newest CCM mainfile.
Peacekeeper has actually strange role, because he is sometimes target of AI civilizations with no apparent reason to start a war. I know when AI starts a war, and this reason shouldn't be one of them.
I have found two saves that I've experienced game freezing. I usually lose desire to continue after this happens. :(
Oh, one more thing, Arc de Triomphe, French small wonder, if captured still produces guard infantry. Btw, what sense makes upgrading javelin thrower and berserk to marines?! Throw that spear away, here, take M4A1, see what real gun is.

Cheers,
Vladan

I know for a fact that flavor settlers causes game freezes (in certain situations). There is no guess to this. I haven't checked the save, and I know it could be other reasons, which is why I used the word 'possibly'. Unless you have thoroughly checked the save, you can't know either; saying that because someone else said it doesn't mean its the only possibility.

Yes, you are right Tom, however I think the only flavor Settler(s) is the Egyptian from Sphinx and Pyramid. I guess I expressed it in my own incomprehensible manor. I too am only guessing as this because (wheeled flag) has been a past source of freezes. In fact another factor of problems from Settlers is that if the AI Civ has one after it's last city falls and it does not found a city on it's turn, the game crashes w/o warning. Please do not think I was in any way disputing you. (after all "I don't know nuttin'") I think the AI unit maintenance cost is not paid?and causes a crash.

djolecorp, thank you very much for your files and your input djolecorp. :) You can be sure, that I will have a closer look at them. Unfortunately you will not hear anything about it in the Civ 3 forums at CFC for the next time.

Unfortunately "atmospheric distortions" around my person in the Civ 3 forums , that I cannot describe more precisely without violating the forum rules, cause me to take a longer break in posting in the Civ 3 forums at CFC. How long the time of the break will be, is in my free discretion (if I don´t get banned for that post).

I say a big thank you to everyone for the interest in CCM and you can be sure, that there will be a next version of that mod, especially when Whyrmshadow has done his announced modern tanks. So all your reports, suggestions and inputs to improve CCM are not in vain -they are noted, but it can happen that there will be no further announcements for updates of the current CCM-version and other modding projects in the CFC Civ 3 forums in the nearer future.

Civ-friends will know where they can find me.

Sad to see you leave, however long it is for.

I also urge you to reconcider; I'm not active on any other civ forum than this.

Not sure what these issues are, but I too am sad to see you leave CFC, even if temporarily. Luckily I am active here and at SOC, so hopefully I will continue to see you there. CCM is on of the mods I play regularly :)

I am sure this is a typo.

In biq1.7 Saltpeter is listed a Small Wonder.

Many resources have "Wonders" that pay extra taxes and trade to the capitol. They are explained as "Hidden" tech, which has potential to be active or not in various renditions of CCM .biq (ex. Barracks-Democracy)

Okay, let me check that out, since I did not earlier. I just saw the entry for Saltpeter in a place where it did not make sense to me.

These Resource Related Small Wonders produce Supply Shipments every 15 turns:
  • Great Iron Mine
  • Supplycenter (Dyes)
  • Supplycenter (Furs)
  • Supplycenter (Gems)
  • Supplycenter (Incense)
  • Supplycenter (Spices)
  • Supplycenter (Wines)
  • Supplycenter (Ivory)
  • Supplycenter (Silk)

These Resource Related Small Wonders do not produce Supply Shipments. Instead, they increase Tax output by 50%:
  • National Aluminum Mine
  • National Coal Mine
  • National Oilfield
  • National Rubberplantage
  • National Uranium Mine

Saltpeter is listed as a Small Wonder, but does not produce a supply shipment nor does it increase tax output.

I did think this was a typo. Now I think it was an oversight and that it was planned for Saltpeter to be a National ResourceType Small Wonder but that it did not get done.

That would also suggest that Horses need their dedicated Small Wonder, too. It is the only strategic resource without one.

And that the Great Iron Mine and Supplycenter (Ivory) need to be tweaked to match the other National ResourceTypes.

Minor stuff, really, but time consuming to implement.

I mis-wrote in mentioning "Hidden Reserve" which is a repository for things that may or may not be implemented in CCM. Yes CCM is a work that is in progress. 1.7.biq is only the latest version and does have it's minor flaws. They (flaws) in no way effect my opinion that it (CCM) is one of the best mods. Good catch CB, and happy gaming.

iirc the national one allow trade, act like harbors, so maybe he did not want any additional ones.
Horses are probably too plentiful on maps the size of CCM to get a small wonder.

It is a bit more involved than I thought. Civinator has explained part of it to me via a PM at Storm Over Civ, and I need to study his answer some more.

At this moment, Civinator states that this is not a flaw but by design.

I want to fiddle around with biq and learn more, but I cannot do that right away.

In part, it has to do with the TechTreeMechanism and that CCM uses 256 buildings, the maximum allowed. Building would include city improvements, small wonders and great wonders.

And, playing brings even more interest. Having little desire in past games to build Great Library, I find that upon building it my civ has doubled it's science output. A simple mention in the Civilopedia will suffice as the fix (if retained).

Civ??? Not just the city?

Wow!
