CCM1 (epic mod)

Civinator invited me to show this preview of the unit he requested in an other thread, so here it is:

Hope you like it, feel free to make any comments about it. I'm still not very happy with the shirt texture, but it would take a lot more times to do something really better. And it wouldn't be noticed at civ-scale, so...

Any tips on speeding up turn times? Man, it's 1800 AD in my game and I'm researching combustion, but the turn times are about 10 minutes. I've changed stuff in preferences to help but doesn't seem to help much at all. I have a fairly new computer ATI 4850 video card, OS Vista, any ideas? :help:
 
I'm afraid that it doesn't get much better - you are doing well all things considered.

When I first tried to play CCM it took 10 mins on my third turn.
 
Kill them faster so there are fewer units and they have fewer towns. It is cpu bound. I do not remember turns takign that long, but it has been awhile.

If you did the suggested settings and interturntimes are still too long for you, you can do the following:

a) Discover only a part of the map until you have conquered that part

b) Kill as many units as possible (as VMXA told you)

c) Play on a smaller map and with less civs

So C3C is an older game, it´s only a cold comfort, that interturntimes in Civ 4 and Civ 5 with comparable map sizes are mostly even longer. There are some natural borders for the length of interturntimes by the programming of the game, that can´t be overcome even more.

Thank you for the advice. I thought vmxa was joking when he said kill as many units as possible. :lol: By the way, I think this mod is one of the best for civ3! :goodjob:
 
A listing of some minor differences between the Pedia and the Biq. Nothing too major.

Blue Riband
Pedia: Luxury Liner every 10 turns.
Biq: Luxury Liner every 16 turns.

Blue Riband (Modern)
Pedia: Transport every 10 turns.
Biq: Transport every 14 turns.

East India Company
Pedia: No prerequisites.
Biq: Coastal installation and Harbor are required.

Ganges Pilgrimage
Pedia: 'Adds a Hindu Temple to every city...'
Should read 'Adds a Mandir to every city...'
Um, there is no building in the Pedia named Hindu Temple. The link in the Pedia goes to the Mandir.

Great Cathedral / Grand Cathedral
Pedia: No cost is shown for this wonder.
Biq: 500 shields.

Pedia: Needs a Cathedral in the city.
Biq: 3 Cathedrals are required.
Does this mean that any city could build this wonder once the 3 Cathedrals are built?

Pedia and Biq: No technology is required to build this Wonder, but since Cathedrals need Theology before they can built, that would imply that Theology is needed for this build. This is the only Wonder that does not have a required tech and that just seems odd.

Great Lighthouse
Pedia: Civ traits of EXP, COM and SEA.
Biq: Civ traits of EXP, COM, SEA and REL.
Aren't all the Civs REL in order to have a shorter anarchy?

Hanging Gardens
Pedia: Civ traits of IND.
Biq: Civ traits of IND and AGI.

Hunnic Storm
Pedia: Civ traits of MIL.
Biq: Civ traits of MIL, EXP and REL.

International Telephone Cor.
Biq only: In the Improvements section the boxes for 'Reduces Bldg. Pollution' and 'Increases Luxury Trade' are checked. In almost every other Wonder, the boxes checked are 'Removes Pop. Pollution' and 'Reduces Bldg. Pollution'. This just looks like an 'Oops!'.

Mesoamerican Christianization
Pedia: No prerequisites.
Biq: Mesoamerican Church.

Solomon's Temple
Pedia: Prophet every 8 turns.
Biq: Prophet every 14 turns.
 
@Moosezilla: how could this be ? :confused:

It speeds up the movement of units iirc. I think I use to hold the shift key to do the same thing. I used it when a really huge stack was moving, but only one or two stacks were moving.

I got so use to playing with thousands of units I stopped using that tactic and I never did try the caps lock, but it is documented.
 
Another nice job Cbob, don't know how you find the time with all you have going on. I could not do it and have all day.
 
Yes, I'm too lazy to get as much done. Caps Lock I don't have to hold. Mandir was an early test problem. Always wondered about BR. Soloman's doesn't boost science so I always go for the other. (Oh wait:crazyeye: I always play Incans so I never try to build it, perhaps to be resolved in ver1.8) Good stuff CB!
 
I ran into a strange bug in my China CCM game. When I loaded the game today from the SAV, all Galleons had the Great Artist graphic!

Civinator, have you ever seen anything like this?
