CCM2 Epic Mod

Yes, this is really strange. :yup: When the other land unit is over the supply shipment, there is also a hotkey command Shift plus S instead of the escort button. You can try this command in the case, if anything with your button graphics should be wrong. In one of your screenshots it can be seen that you have activated the Snoopy terrain, but by only simply activating it, you would have had the original Firaxis mine graphics inside the Snoopy terrain folder in the game and not the -in your eyes - ugly CCM "mine" graphics.

Unfortunately the hotkey doesn't work either.

The scenario properties must have enabled the entry "Allow Anyone to Capture Any flag".

Please be careful, if you open this screen with the C3C Firaxis editor, as this screen holds entries, that are far beyond the possibilities of the Firaxis editor. You can have a look at the entries with the Firaxis editor, but you cannot do changes without loosing some of the values in that screen. You have to leave that screen without doing any entries in it. For changing any entries in that screen you need the Quintillus editor.

If this entry also is correct and there is no problem with overwriting files from the virtual store in your pc, I am at my wits end here, if CCM 2.5 was installed well on your pc and you haven´t done any changes here. May be other civers here have additional ideas.

There are several issues now, and I think I might have messed something up.

I went into the scenario editor and checked the "allow anyone to capture any flag" box and hit "apply". However, it appears as if I can only apply this to a specific file and not the whole CCM mod. I exited the editor, opened it again and tried to edit the scenario but there was no scenario name (CCM2.5) in the name field. Furthermore, the "allow anyone to capture the flag" box was unchecked and when I loaded a map, it loaded with different graphics (I think there are sn00py's but I'm not sure. I would like to get back to the graphics that I have in my previous screenshots). Thanks for your help.

I believe that's because the "conquests.biq" is a read-only file, so you'll have to save it with another name after making the edits, then remove the old "conquests.biq" and rename the edited file into "conquests.biq"

:yup: I think the same. In my eyes the best is to delete your complete CCM installation and to do a new download of that mod. Please read carefully the installation instruction at page 1 of the CCM thread before installing this mod again.

I wrote you several lines in my last post, warning you to do any changes there with the Firaxis editor. I don´t repeat them here. May be I would have done the same, just to gain experience :). Now you have that experience - and may be unfortunately a spoiled biq when doing this with the Firaxis editor. When using the Quintillus editor you should save the changed biq with a different name in a different folder and later rename that saved biq to its original name.

This is normal. CCM 2.5 is - different to other mods and scenarios - a mod of the C3C main files and works like a third expansion of Civ 3. The biq is intended to be placed into the C3C mainfolder (after having done a copy of the original conquests main biq). This allows while playing a CCM game, having access to the city view, the palace and - for me the most important - to the map seed for replaying the randomly created map of the last game. Even if you set the CCM 2.5 biq into the C3C content folder like a scenario or a normal mod, here no scenario name is needed, as all needed files for CCM are directly in the boosted C3C mainfiles - if installed properly (but you don´t have any longer access to the city view, the palace and the map seed, as it is the same for all normal C3C scenarios and mods, too).
Furthermore, the "allow anyone to capture the flag" box was unchecked
This setting is crucial for the supply shipments to work and in the biq that comes with the download of CCM 2.5 of course this setting is enabled.

The attached screenshot shows the Vuldacon terrain, that is normally used for CCM. In the first posts of the CCM thread it is explained how to enable other terrain sets, that are coming with CCM 2.5. One of these other terrain sets is the Snoopy terrain.

Soon the new upcoming CCM 3 will be released. CCM 3 (different to CCM 2.5) will be installed like a normal C3C mod or scenario. The reason for this change is, that CCM 3 will be released in combination with the Flintlock mod and I don´t want to press the players of other C3C mods and scenarios into the special settings of the Flintlock mod that are used for CCM 3 when being placed into the C3C main files (so it is a pitty, that then the City view, Palace and especially the map seed are no longer available when playing CCM).

Hopefully Flintlock gets the new version official soon. Looking forward to trying CCM 3.0

The R17 version of the Flintlock mod was just released. :) Now the CCM 3 scenario config file of the R17 Preview 3 version must be adapted to the official R 17 version and, if possible, a short test game should be played with that configuration. Than CFC must be asked, if the upload limit for CCM can be slightly enlarged, so besides RARR it can also cover the scenarios SOE, WW 2 Global Gold and AOI. At present CCM covers about 80 % of the units that are needed for those scenarios.

If all runs well, CCM 3 can be available for download in about 3 weeks.

@Holan95 since it seemed like you might have been unfamiliar with CFC when I directed you here, I have to take a step back and ask: where did you get your CCM mod and how did you install it? In any case I second the recommendation to remove it and do a clean install of the latest version using the instructions at the start of this thread.

@WildWeazel I got the CCM mod from this thread, but it appears as if I have some stuff to learn. I think given that I can't access several of the scenarios and features, a reinstall makes sense. I'll get started with the process and will let you know if I have any questions.

Thanks for your detailed response, as mentioned in the above reply to WildWeazel, I will uninstall and reinstall the mod carefully. Hopefully that should resolve many of the problems that I have been experiencing.

May be it is better to wait a little bit with the reinstallation. In about three weeks I hope that the next version of CCM is ready for download.

Civinator, is R17 embedded in CCM 3.0 or has that to be applied seperately?

The R17 version of the Flintlock mod will be downloaded seperately, but an R17 scenario.c3x_config file for the special CCM 3 settings will be attached to the CCM 3 download (a scenario.c3x_config file is not influencing other mods and scenarios) and I hope that I can update that scenario.c3x_config file when upcoming newer versions of the Flintlock mod appear for Civ 3.

So all I have to do (in 3 weeks from now) is download the CCM3 mod?
Yes, if all runs well - and of course additionally you have to download the actuel version of the Flintlock mod (at present R17) and to install it in the C3C main folder (CCM 3 will now be installed in the Civ Content folder for mods and scenarios).

Good idea, I can still use it with many of the scenarios, so I'll just wait for CCM3. Really looking forward to it!

Please, when you post the 3.0, add instructions for this. I've never touched that ...

The Flintlock mod: COMPATIBILITY and INSTALLATION

A. COMPATIBILITY:

The mod is compatible with the GOG and Steam versions of Civ 3 Complete and with the DRM-free executable available through PCGames.de (Note by Civinator. Only the GOG version was tested by me. For any eventuality you can make a copy of the original C3C exe to calm your nerves).

It works with existing save files and saves made with the mod active will still work in the base game.

Multiplayer is not officially supported but some features will work in MP, see this post for more details: https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...s-in-exe-modding.666881/page-16#post-16126470 (Note by Civinator: Not tested by me).

The mod can work on Mac OS, see instructions here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...rd-and-much-more.666881/page-56#post-16369665 (Note by Civinator: Not tested by me).

For more info about the PCGames.de executable, see here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/civ-3-windows-update-kb3086255-safedisc.552308/

B. INSTALLATION AND USAGE of the Flintlock mod:

1. Download the Flintlock mod here.
2. Create an own folder for the mod (per example a folder named C3X_R17 at the desktop).
3. Extract the downloaded Flintlock mod to that folder.
4. Copy that folder into your Civ install directory (i.e. the C3C main folder containing the Civ3Conquests.exe).
5. Activate the mod by double-clicking the INSTALL.bat (or RUN.bat) scripts.

a) INSTALL.bat will install the mod into the Civ3Conquests.exe and automatically create a backup of the original unmodded executable named
"Civ3Conquests-Unmodded.exe".

b) If your Civ 3 is installed inside Program Files then it's necessary to run INSTALL.bat as administrator.

Note by Civinator: The other option for the Installation by RUN.bat didn´t work when I tested it.

6. You can draw a shortcut from the boosted exe to the taskbar to start the boosted exe comfortably.

Installation of the Flintlock mod.jpg

Notes about the installation of the Flintlock mod:

The mod's behavior is highly adjustable by editing the config file named "default.c3x_config.ini". Also that config file contains info about some mod features that aren't fully explained here.

To uninstall the mod, delete the modded executable then rename the backed up EXE version mentioned above to Civ3Conquests.
It is not necessary to uninstall the mod before installing a different version.

Even after installation, the mod still depends on some files in the mod folder, so you need to keep it around.

There are multiple reports that RUN.bat doesn't work while installing does, so know that installation is the more reliable option.
Rômulo Prado reports that RUN.bat started working for him after he installed the MS Visual C++ Redistributables versions 2005 and 2019 (while installing GOG Galaxy).

C. INSTALLATION OF CCM 3:

- CCM 3 now is installed like any other C3C mod or scenario into the Civ Content folder of C3C. The CCM biq must be installed in that folder outside
the CCM folder.

- CCM 3 holds a special scenario.c3x_config file, that adapts the options of the Flintlock mod (here the version R17) to the special settings of CCM 3.
This file should be updated for each update of the Flintlock mod that is installed in the C3C mainfolder.
