Can you expand on what you mean by frustrations?
Any map-editing I plan on doing in the future would only involve slight shaping of the terrain to accomplish a goal and removing the ever-annoying ice blockage from the map. IGE has a feature that allows you to see the whole map without ruining it, which is perfect for chasing the Ice away.
I don't like heavily modified maps. It's fine if you move some NW or modify starting dirt slightly, but heavily modified ones like the April 1st Venice is fine only once a year. My experience is that modifications would just create a strange game where there is more frustrations than needed.
Why isn't IGE appropriate? At what point does it become inappropriate?
I can prepare the Celtic map for whatever is the next available date. Just tell me what that date is, please.
Well what have in mind is more modified than aprils fools but less modified if that makes senseafter all its post-apocalypse map Im planning
Difficulty level would be same as usual(medium-hard) so not not very easy cheesy or painfully hard...just different in many ways...and it wouldnt need mods to play. Probably closer hard than easy because AI has same bonuses as usual but they help them more than in standard game(I think so)
I can create that kind of map but it will take couple of hours of my work. I might not play that map because I know everything that map has so i dont have surprises for myself
If people are interested i will create map....it doesnt have to be inside CDG if people dont want it to be...for which civ should I create it for?
By post-apocalypse, do you mean information era start? Or settler start with fallout everywhere? Anyways, The list is farther up, anything that isn't struckthrough can be claimed, anything in italics should be debated since someone else mentioned it but didn't claim it. As for modifying, from what I can gather the modifying should be subtle enough that it doesn't affect too much of how the game is usually played. It's a tough judgement call, which is why most don't do it.
From what I can see, the next available date is June 1st. I'll add you to the list above as claimed, I have been looking forward to another round with the Celts.
I'm not sure where the line is drawn with IGE. I think it should be used every time just because its by far the easiest way to check a rolled map. As for making changes with it though, that's where the debate begins and I'm not sure where it ends. Ice Removal wasn't included in the Incan map, and it affected it in a good way from what I can tell so I'm not sure what to make of that...
Ok so, I just removed my claims because all my ideas were based too much on real life and this series isn't about that.
With The Celts, I'd like to make the most of their UA by giving them very favourable terrain, but then balancing it out by having each of their enemies also having perfect terrain for those civs, and maybe giving them something sweet like I did on the Assyria map, making it a fun but hard Dom map.
What do you all think?
I really wish you'd rethink this. You had some "fun" ideas and it's ridiculous to have to walk on eggshells because the freakin PC police decided to get their hackles up over a particular historical atrocity.
This is a freakin game. It is about all aspects of civilization building, including warfare, slavery (worker stealing), and innocents suffering. Do you turtle up and play peaceful games every time? How is clearing a barbarian camp dissimilar to what happened in the American West? Do you ever demand tribute from a CS?
This is NOT a freakin "safe space" on a college campus. It is an online forum discussing a game that is based on science, religion, culture, commerce, AND warfare. Please leave the PC crap at home and don't bring it here (not addressing anyone in particular).
WW, please don't give in to that type of pressure. I'll walk away from this forum and not look back if that's the way things are going to work here.
I like the premise but I've also been wanting to play a fun Celtic CV game (Sacred Sites maybe?). As you just recently demonstrated, that can definitely fit in well with a Dom strategy. I'd think that matches the UU up a bit better than pure Dom. Just a thought...
Thanks for that, unfortunately I think the owners of this site don't see it that way and I don't want to bring the wrath of mod down on us because I wanted to poke fun at what's going on around us with my maps. I read this thing again http://forums.civfanatics.com/faq.php?faq=updated_rules_2011 and I'm just going to relax about this and be more creative and less troublesome. Besides, I was tying up three popular civs and I've only completed 1 CDG so far, I have no right to do that. I haven't even beaten MY own challenge yet! I'm taking a step back and working on playing this game instead of creating crazy maps that may make others mad.
Fair enough. I just find bringing PC into this forum to be very offensive (not pointing any fingers). Let's leave the politics to other websites and keep this one to the game, people.
I'd like to claim the Netherlands for my next map as I have a fun idea (still getting over the pain and suffering from that Netherlands DCL game last year). Please give me a date sometime in the future if that's ok?
How about a "world police" kind of game, which reflects a more modern America
Where is the dialog on that one?Indian - Gandhi - Claimed by Donkeyfish for CDG14, scheduled for May 15th.
That sounds interesting enough, and not too radical. I think that fallout disappears after a bunch of turns. That could be an interesting mechanic for opening up parts of the map. Or we might see the AI settling the fallout zone early because they don’t realize that the tiles are 0 yield. Have you experimented with this on your own maps? All start from ancient era. Somewhere is fallout somewhere not so much. City states have strong units to start with and some barbarians camps have strong units from get go. Maybe human starting with scout+worker instead of warrior because lots of waste
Anyways, I can and roll an India map (seemed most popular of my ideas) for May 15th. I will make a suggested achievement thing on May 2nd, so we dont confuse the discussion with 2 maps at once. If Inca CV is next, I will chose India SV.
