Ok here is something I don'y understand. My friend is not allowed to see a movie with a 1 min 30 second sex sene (nothing else was rude) but he is allowed to watch the Texas Chainsaw masacre. Same thing in school. We are allowed to watch War movies and films where eople dy violent deaths but not anything remotly sex related. Why is this? Do adults find violence more acceptable than sex? Personaly I think violence is worse than sex.

Remember when GTA had a sex scene in it and all the new hubbub.

I guess the authorities think that kids are more likely to do sex if they see it too much, but not violence. Which almost makes sense to me.

Perhaps it's the Puritan mentality.

'We don't want debauchery. William, pass the musket!' :D

As far as GTA goes, I don't let my nephew play it here when brother and family visit and bring along their game console. This was even before the sex scene and based solely on the horribly violent content. Frankly, I'm shocked that a game like that is even allowed to be sold at all.

It is my long held opinion, that by purposely blocking such material, it makes the young, impressionable youths, MORE likely to do such things. It isn't like by seeing a sex scene the children will say "I never knew i could do that, but i should NOW!", and by censoring it gives it more of a sense of mystery and excitment.

In the case of schools, violent scenes can get across a message, whether historical or literary, clearly. However a sex scene doesn't carry much educational value.

It sends signals to kids about what is acceptable.
What were you talking about just now? My link? I suggest you re-read it.

Isn't censorship really a message either of "I'm incompetent to raise my children properly, protect them for me" or of "This is how I think other people's children should be raised"?

That's true I've never seen a sex scene that accurately portrays the act.

Bras wonderously fly off in movies, just not that easy really.

The painfull but mildly humerous catching of long hair and the lying on a vulnerable spot when in the act of foreplay.

Fumbling that leads nowhere and is anything but well choreographed.

In general and not wanting to get into detail, sex is generally fairly clumsy and involves alot of misadventure, this is never protrayed in a sex scene, which is laboriously contrived, basically there's nothing educational in a sex scene at all.:)

but who wants to see real sex?

It does? I'm in my late twenties and grew up with the same approach towards violence and sex in terms of censorship and I'd have to say my beliefs/outlook aren't altered in the slightest in terms of what does and doesn't warrant a PG or R rating in movies, etc.

There's so much free porno on the internet today I'd be shocked if those kids in school don't just go home and download 50 megs on a daily basis.

Personally I think everything is worse than sex;) Apart from Music

Anyway, the real answer is that alot of Christians, Muslims and other religions are paranoid up about sex and like to surpress peoples natural instincts to get horny with each other.

I find it rather silly when a 15 year old can watch people killign each other but not someone making love.

I don't want them to have see violent or sexual scenes. They are fairly useless. Many movies don't give ANY accurate portrayal of violent acts, they are all stylized and useless.

agreed! :goodjob:

Well, I will put it simply; all forms of censorship are unecessary and just give us a "reason" to give more control to a higher power by letting them choose what we watch, read, etc.

Secondly, there is soooo much easy acess to sexually explicit images on the internet, it is estimated that 3/4 kids will either view it purposely or accidently while surfing the net. What does censoring movies/TV gain? How is sex worse then killing someone? Please explain this to me.

Censorship is bad. Period.

Why? What's bad about violence in video games?

Unfortunately, these days, sex isn't about love anymore.

They are probably jealous that the teenagers get to have sex and they [the censorship people] don't. And so they want them to become more violent instead of loving, so they kill other people instead of have sex.
