censorship

I don't see a problem with a naked people, though I understand that the "mechanics" of sex isn't really something young children should learn about from TV (or the internet :ack: ).

Censorship of sex explicit content seems to have connection with gun control--How could conservative defend right of bearing guns while spit on the right of watching obscure sexual scene??

:agree:

Agree. Let me back in San Andreas, and some adults who love pornography watch them, people who like neither--don't be jealous about our entertainment  ! (As long as we don't kill people or abuse kids)

Look, it simply boils down to cultural differences, which I thought we were all supposed to respect, right? The US has a thing about public nudity and Europe doesn't, that's all there is to it.
Basically I agree, and I don't really have a problem with it, as long as nobody tries to impose that here :) I just find it kinda silly, but I guess that's really just cultural differences.

Do adults find violence more acceptable than sex? Personaly I think violence is worse than sex.

I think this is mostly an American prediliction, at least compared to Europe and other Western-oriented cultures.

not in America.......For every little thing someone find offensive there will be some organized group that springs up to stop it, which I see as a major put down on so called "American right to freedom of speech" or freedom to express your ideas and so on and so forth, but I remember once we had to have permision slips signed by parents in the 5th gade to watch some war movie for history class, and don't get me started on America's censorship of telivision, hell the Canadians have mostly(if not entirely i'm not entirley sure on this) uncensored TVs!

What, is love worse than violence, now? I was under the impression that violence was wrong all the time, and showing Scarface to kids isn't really a good idea. But no, as long as there isn't a sex scene! I feel that people shouldn't be able to watch movies with sex until they know what's going on, and I feel the same way about movies with excessive violence. Everyone (almost) will eventually have sex, and it's a natural thing. Of course, if people get the wrong impression from a movie, and have rampant sex, that's not a good thing, but censoring stuff for teens+ is just stupid. Go find any teen not interested or even a little curious about sex, and doesn't know anything about it. If teens don't see it, realistically, they will get the idea that it's really awesome to fornicate with anyone they see. Telling us nothig will be the same, btw. (The same thing goes for violence, but how many school shootings do you see compared to abortions and illegitimate kids? Sex needs to be addressed). I agree that sex is overglorified in Hollywood (as is violence), and agree that neither should be showed to younger kids. But when they get all touchy touchy about showing teens movies with a 2 minute sex scene after making us sit through about 20 sex ed videos and S.T.D slideshows, they're just being stupid. I'm not saying hard-core porn should be shown in school, or to kids in general, but neither should over-glorified violence, either. But you have to pick the lesser of the two evils. Make love, not war.

I see violence as more of a grey region which ranges from simple cartoon violence (anvil falling on character's head, falling off a cliff a-la Road Runner, etc) to blood and gore. Cartoons that were made in the 1950s-1970s would have controvertial content contain in them and would not be alowed in today's Cartoons.
Those old cartoons are my favorites. :goodjob: The old Looney Tunes... Donald Duck... Woody Woodpecker... Tom and Jerry....

Now those were funny. Unlike today's PC, cutesy, kiddie versions.

Of course, a hardcore porn is not made for a 14 years old, but a small sex-scene in a normal movie is nothing bad.

Sure it is, I view hardcore porn on a daily basis. I believe there is nothign wrong with openess and liberalness regarding sex. It will make for more well developed individula who aren't sexually repressed.
I believe that the taboo causes the development of sexual fetishes and such.
The less taboo there is the better.....sex is a nataural act not evil or whateevr and it is foolsih to make it such.

There are certan things that censorships is appropreate in the media. Namely the control of profanity and nudity.
God forbid people should see a naked body? Gasp!

I'll repeat what's already been said. Any society that censors sexuality (and even large portions of the human body) but displays graphic violence as accpetable has some deep seeded issues.

Personally I think it is a method of population control. It seems to work too (almost even birth and death rate in most first world countries).

I'm sorry, but you've failed your geography test.
I hope you're getting a salary for administaring that test. Otherwise you have a bit too much time on your hands. ;)

Course it takes one to know one

In my experience porn is the distraction from the true goal, which is having sex, which is bad. I had my first sexual encounter because i reformatted my computer and deleted all my porn, so imo porn should actually reduce the birthrate of a country.

You should patent this process. If reformatting a computer can get people sex, you'll make millions.

I feel that nudity should be censored. To me, I feel that human private parts should be covered and obscured by pixel vision since its realy not appropreate to be flashing one's private parts.

I personaly would want to have nudity censored to protect the children's eyes. I personaly dont want to expose my future children to any nudity.
What is your opinion of the nudity on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?
