Champions of Mystara - Preview Thread

I changed the picture of the leaders in post number 2 to replace old ones with new leaderheads. I just realized that I missed one, but I'll change that when I make/change a couple more. The list is pretty much done though. Then I can get back away from making graphics, and back to finishing the mod.:)

Sorry for the large pic. It's here:

I was gonna replace one of the Northern Reaches countries, probably Soderfjord, with one of R8XFT's leaderheads from Anno Domini.:) I believe it was you in fact that suggested that a long time ago, in one of the earlier posts.

It's kind of stalled right now while I finish leaderheads. I decided that I've got to put a temporary barrier on leaderhead making and requests after I'm done the ones on my list, so I can get finishing the mod. The longer I go without working on other aspects of it, the harder it is keep organized and planned on it.

In case you're wondering, the list of leaderheads to finish before I get back to finishing my mod are: Mon Mothma, 3 female elves, a skeleton/lich, and a new City-States leader, and an African 4-era version of Mokuba Jibada. That's it, I think. Hopefully I haven't forgotten anyone. I'll be getting back to work on leaderheads in a week or so, as right now I have family visiting from England.:)

Actually, I realized later that I had forgot one of your requests that I'll do so I can lay Mokuba Jibada to rest. The guy you wanted me to do with the chain mail. He'll probably be done concurrently with the African leaderhead.

Its not urgent, but if you want to give ol` Jibbie a rest, then yay! I like it when people take my requests. I really, really do :D :bounce:

So, no pointy ears, and a sea background :) It would be great if he could have the chainmail hood (you know, like knights do) :)

Thanky you, Grandraem! :thanx:

No problem.

When I'm gonna work on it I'll get more input from you. I'll be working on the ladies first anyways.:)

This is a long overdue update. I've changed the pic of the leaders in post number 2, back on page 1, again. As of this time I have no further desire to change this until after the mod is done. I don't want to bog myself down with redoing this over and over again.:)

I'm going to be working next on finalizing all the civilopedia info for each civ as well as their civilopedia icon.

Unfortunately I still have some RL issues that are slowing down work on this immensely, but I'm determined to have the mod done this year (and done well, no shortcuts). It's bad enough that the thread title says 'Coming in 2006'. I'll have to get that changed.:crazyeye:

Cool this is good news to me. IM gratful your setting this up for the player who's unfamilar with Mysteria, so to be able to learn the complete story as they go along instead of needing to have already been familiarized with everything before they start.

Usually thats the way it works if you want to understand not just what improvements/ wonders do, but why they do it as well. (the story/discription behind the add ons) you have to be familar with the books, movies, whatever.

In a history mod, usually its obvious why things are awarded the way they are, or what a unit backround consists of. Still, Civ3 pedia is the best model in existance for thought and info flow. Fantasy discriptions are needed the most though, and never are there on any consistancy. To the makers defence, its a massive job and its usually presumed your already aqauinted with the theme, why else are you playing the mod in relation?.

Ive been waiting for this type of completness for a while. It like to see all the new artwork and unit animations ontop off new stategy that the other side offers(fantasy mods). I also hope to learn more about the mystera universe though this.

I'm definitely going to try to keep the Civilopedia as extensive as possible. It is a very large job. I'm glad that there are others such as yourself that know nothing or very little of Mystara that are willing to give the mod a try. It'll keep me from getting lazy with the Civilopedia.;)

Thanks man! :) I know its a big commitment so I total commend your vital efforts to the hobby. I think Its a big step for cross over apeal for players who are wanting to try something fresh or go back to their Hereos of Might n Magic 3 days only this time having the comprensive detailing and easy 'link ups' the Pedia set-up, of Civ3 provides (Civ4's pedia sucks n' everyone knows it)

Even as far as 2 or three years down the road people are going to be picking this up, see its rich content and become emersed. Your name will stand for quality in artistry and story telling!

I was that much more responsive to all aspects of the first mod I played with 'store bough' replica pedia format. (Balancer Reloaded) It made all the artists whos work was invloved payoff that much more. Playing large comprensive mods with supporting text is like downloading a history upgrade/lesson to your memory drive(brain). The knowledge seeps in seemlessly while your having fun ruling a empire but further its what makes the modders total efforts all the more enthralling to the average player, what makes the next building, tech or unit discovered all the more rewarding to discover.

(unless you can't read or don't like history, or in this case engrossing tales carved uniquely from turn 1 to 540 in ways of wonders n' buildings techs n' warriors, races and resources, you love a good complete volume!

Thanks again and a good modding to you sir.

It'd been bugging me for ages that my King Hord Dark-Eye didn't have a 'Dark-Eye'. Being inspired by Embryodead's Viking LH that he abandoned, I decided to give a shot at making a Hord LH. I've only done the flcs for that era so far. I've still got to do one more era and pcxs. I've got some ideas for a full 4 eras so when my mod is done I'll probably create another 2 eras and release it then. This also gives the mod some unreleased material.;) I know I'm breaking my own vow of 'no more LHs till the mod is done', but it was bugging me too much as King Hord seemed like too much of a character not to have his own LH.

I finished the King Hord Dark-Eye LH for Ostland.:)

Here's a preview:

HordPreview.jpg

He'll be included with the mod as explained in the post above. I probably won't be making him 4-eras though, as the medieval looks too fantasy to be used for a real life LH.
