The curb stomp isn't actually shown, just the lead up to it.
Ànd then the crack if I remember it right...

It's one of those movies that the schools get excited about and think is a good idea to show kids for educational purposes. Despite this, it's a great movie:)

Very good movie.

How funny, I just saw this movie for the second time last night!

Yes it's a great movie. Norton rocks.

Haha I saw this for the first time last night :D

It was a great film, really well done. I didn't think Ed Norton was so buff :wow:.

Wow, I thought everyone had seen this movie already. If you haven't you should. It is a very compelling movie.

I'm just mixing it up a a bit, keeping you all on your toes...

(it's true though I really didn't think that that was Ed Norton when I watched it)

I just saw the movie for the first time, and it was one of the most powerful movies I'd seen in a long time. This should be shown in schools.

It was amazing. I'm colourblind, so it took me a bit to tell the difference between the flashbacks and the 'present' time, because I didn't have the visual cues other people did.

I wonder if skinheads gets the 'greater message' of the movie?

You're just pointing one of the only "flaws" that I can see in this movie : it will not convince the people it should. Meaning if you liked the movie, you were probably not a skinhead/black panther in the first place.

We had the same problem with 'Goodfellas' when I was younger. We watched it a few times, and we never got the message "everyone loses in the end". I didn't realise that was the theme until I was older.

The Norwegian edition (DVD at least) shows the whole scene and yes it is repulsive.

Yeah, the version I watched also shows it, easily one of the most disturbing scenes i've watched in a movie.

Not entirely true. While it's obvious you're not going to show this movie to Adolf Hitler and expect a change, one of my friend's who used to be racist (not cross burning racist, granted... but always talking bad about other races) told me that me and him watching this movie was the main thing that convinced him his way of thinking was wrong. And really, while this movie involves the US Nazi party, it's real audience are the millions of people who suffer because of hatred.

Hasn't Tony Kaye pretty much disassociated himself from the final cut of this one?

Yeah, because Norton basically reedited it.

If people like this movie, check out "Romper Stomper". Aussie film of ~10 years ago. One of Russell Crowe's first movies.

Yeah, and far more credible IMO. A kick in your groin, gut and face.

great movie.

you should also try Missisippi burning for a very good (though old? is mid 80s old?) antiracist movie.

and completely off topic, but related in a sort of weird way:

try reading the BOOK  "Bury my heart at wounded knee" by Dee Brown (i think that is the author's name. not 100% sure. the book title is a certainty!)
tells you the history of the united states from the INDIAN point of view.
i dont think ill spoil it for you if i tell you the end is not so rosey as most westerns end ;)
