Children shouldn't be mutilated. Adults can consent to whatever. I don't care enough to ban it though.

It's something that should be personal or in case of parents, parental ;-) .

It's not really something that is inherently bad. I have a (medical) circumcision, and it's not that bad ;-)

The hygiene reason is crap. So is the whole it'll save you from AIDS crap some people try to throw out there now. I really doubt banging a bunch of people with AIDS with a circumcised penis is any better an idea than with a normal one.

One should clean everyday regardless of foreskin. Circumcision just makes the process easier.

The role of the foreskin is not really known... it could be complete vestigial.

There is no scientific evidence that makes a clear case for or against it. In fact, when their is shown to be a benefit in one direction or the other, it has not shown to be a statistically significant benefit.

Thus, I think its a choice left up to the parents. Getting worked up about it, one way or the other, that's the real problem.

Well, that was the original reason for the modern practice, anyway.

Friction, and the fact that it removes sensory input through the removal of the foreskin.
