Civ4 Plugins for 3dsmax 6 and 7 now available for download

Oh, I'am not alone with this!

Problem is the same as at CATMANEXE and Petrovski.
MAX gives out the same report at the start.
I have 3dsMAX7.0 + SP1 and Civ4_plugins, but have not Civilization 4.
And try modeling in the Oblivion.

Reinstallation of Oblivion gives nothing!

Here the file CivilizationIVMaxPlugin.dlu, opened by Wordpad:

I have not folder "maxsdk" in 3dsMAX directory.
May be that's answer, why plugins not run?

Igro is correct -- the maxsdk folder is not present in the standard MAX install, so far as I can tell.

Anyone know anything about this? The MAX SDK is discussed on the Autodesk website, but the impression I get is that it's something you have to pay for.

Hi I'm new to this forum

but i am also getting a error its a bit different to the one that Igor had so the .dll file link that Igro posted doesn't work for me

I also have 3dsMAX7.0 + SP1 and Civ4_plug-ins, but have not Civilization 4.
And trying to model in "The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion".

this is what comes up on mine:

My best regards to the person who fixes this,
and to all who read this post.

**nevermind**
found my problem

Try to reinstall DirectX drivers from Oblivion disk (DXSETUP.exe).

Here one more .dll. (I don't know do it something or not, but it is set on my computer together with d3dx9_26.dll.)

Best regards

I want someone to findout how to get gloss AND teamcolor work on the same model!!!! (shader or non shader, i dont mind!!!)

If noone knows, perhaps firaxis can help???

I'm getting the same error as other folks here. I've extracted the v6 plugin into C:\3dsmax6\ but then when I run Max I get an error telling me that the .dll file is not initializing. I've even gone out, bought, and installed civilization 4, but this didn't solve the problem. Has anyone figured out why this keeps happening? Any Oblivion modders figure out how to make this work?

Will these plugis work with 3dsMax 8 ? and does anyone have any 3dsMax plugins ? ClothFX or Texture Layers 2 etc .

I'm guessing the morrowind .nif exporter does not work. I only have max 5 and the morrowind 4.x exporter works with 5. So does anyone know if the morrowind exporter works with this?

install both of the dlls listed on this page. to be on the safe side i
installed them in my pcs system, system32 and 3dsmax directories.
no more error message. thanks all.

I'm doing a steamship for my Crimson Skies mod, here it is:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=133817&stc=1&d=1153998127

But I have no idea how to correct the roof-texturing, how to put all of the different parts together (its made up of various boxes & stuff) and to properly render-to-texture. Atm if I render to texture, it makes a new texture file for each part.

All textures are hand made, what could I do to make the life-boats look better?

Is there a chance that we could get more .max example files (especially Infantry)?
Please

Recently many other animation programs (Pov-Ray, Poser, Bryce) were made available for free for some days. They are the ones used in civ3, and many people there have download them. Now, is there any way to convert models from these programs for civ4? Because I can't figure out how you can work with a 30 days trial (who will pay 3,000+ dollars to buy it?)

The plugins that convert models into civ4 compatible files are only available for two programs - Blender and Max. So whatever you do in Pov-Ray, Poser and Bryce would have to be imported into one of these in any case. I'm not familiar with Pov-Ray but Bryce is almost useless for developing things for Civ4, its strength is in generating landscapes and skies, not structures or characters, so I don't know why you'd want to use it. Poser is all about characters but its models are too detailed for civ4, extremely so, and as far as I know, when you export them into max they do not contain any bones so you can't take advantage of the animations.

If you don't want to use a 30-day trial and can't afford max your best bet is Blender. It's a free 3d modeling program that has mostly everything you need to make stuff for civ4, and there is at least one tutorial on it on the tutorials forum.
