Civ4 Warlords - OT game?

Okay, I'll upgrade this afternoon. I'll take the game down right now, in order to spare any more lost turns in the meantime.

One thing you'll need to do IG, is clear the Admin password before you patch. Otherwise the file won't convert to the new patch.

Except... how the heck do I clear the admin password?

if you set an admin password (this is the password you need to load the game in pitboss, not the password to use to join the game) when you created the game thou you can to clear this first, this cant be done from pitboss.. you have to load the save from a civ4 warlords game



There are 2 ways to to this..

1a) start a multiplayer game, in either direct ip or LAN.. load the save you made from pitboss.. ( you probably want to make sure all other players has taken their turn first else they may loose the turn.. but I am not 100% sure of this)



2a) when the vote box comes up, select to save and continue playing



3a) hit shift-alt-d , input the admin password, clear the password box in the next screen.. then save



4a) load up the save in 2.08 (make sure the new mod has has the same directoryname as the old 32 player mod)



5a) hit shift-alt-d, put back in a new adminpassword and then save game



6a) load the save in pitboss again.. AIs will have taken over all the players except the player the admin user used, so it is possible that players that had not already moved that turn has lost their turn untill they reclaim their civ.. I dont know..





1b) load the save as a multiplayer-hotseat game



2b) shift-alt-d, input password, clear password field.. save



3b) load save in civ4 patched to 2.08 with new mod (as hotseat game again)



4b) shift-alt-d and put back admin password again



5b) run my saveconvert util on save and turn back on simultanous turns again



6b) load save in pitboss





You can skip steps 4a/5a or 3b/4b if you want to leave the save unprotected, but that will make it easier for players to cheat in the game

This was a response in another thread. Though I also saw someone say that you don't even need to clear the password for a Pitboss game and that it'll actually load just fine for the patch. So I'm not sure which is true.

So do I need to download the patch in order to play now? Will the game restart entirely, or will it continue from where we left off?

I don't have the patch installed yet, normally I would, but I've been so buys playing the Fall from Heaven 2 mod that I haven't bothered with Warlords much lately.

Yes, you would need the patch.

No, if ID does the upgrade successfully then a restart will not be needed.

This was a response in another thread. Though I also saw someone say that you don't even need to clear the password for a Pitboss game and that it'll actually load just fine for the patch. So I'm not sure which is true.

I just patched up and logged in. Everything seems fine for me, though I've already finished the turn.

Nope, seeing that running through the steps would cause everyone to push to AI, I figured just loading into the patched version was worth a shot.

And thanks, Kan, hopefully others will report success as well.

I also was just able to log in and play my full turn. Nice to know you didn't have to do anything special for it.

Any one want to help me out...it seems my neighbor to my south is a little bit on the aggressive side.

IF you pull back now...you wont lose this game before 500AD. An attack on me this early will cripple you( I expected it your attack) and I can bet you will soon find your way leaving also as my allies are on their way to hit you if you do not withdraw.

You havent delth with me before and you are in for a surprise or 2.
