hello all. I would like to know if in civ 5 will it be possible to have a tech tree that ends on renaissance, for example. I mean, if it is possible to choose a starting era (i suppose you can do it on civ 5), iis it possible to choose an ending era... Btw, i would like to know if you guys think its a crazy idea, or not. Personally, i think it would be great to a whole game only with swords and arrows fights... Thanks
Hello DogasCIV. This is not a crazy idea at all. In fact there is a thread that deals with this topic. There is no confirmation at this time whether it'll be a game feature (like advanced start), but it's certainly something that can be modded without too much trouble. See further the referenced thread.

Thank you for answering. Its funny that you say that it is easily modded, but i dont find a mod on civ4 with a tech tree that doesnt reach the gunpowder without an error. And i mean like TAM: there isnt vassal states, which makes the game painful to end; Pie Ancient Europe has a gameplay much different than a regular game on civ4. And there are others... But if you know any mod without gunpowder, but with the normal gameplay that we know from civ4, please tell me. Thanks

updated Cristo Redentor and Rocket Artillery

I read that units can't be moved anymore with keyboards strokes, only mouse .

Why this censure ??? I am astonished and deeply sad

Castles confirmed as building in Podcast 7:

...Later you can add castles and military bases and so forth to continue to upgrade them and that's gonna make them harder to take, it's gonna make their defensive at tack back out of the city stronger...

Wow that Christo Redentor looks liek a must have wonder considering the exponential cost of SP's.

France + Christo Redentor = :woohoo:

Updated Helicopter Gunship, Ankor Wat

I noticed from the Manual Features PDF released at Civ5 site that units built in a city get the option to move out of the city if there already is a unit in the city. Trivial perhaps, but still....

 OMG! over 10 different versions
Did anyone from 2K explained why there is so many versions?
Did anyone in the history made a game with so many different bonuses?
It's look like they want to suck from us as much money as it is possible.
What if I want to have all this extra features, should I buy all versions or should I wait 1 year for Super UBER Golden Edition for 1000 bucks :crazyeye:

Map packs, dlc's, 12 or even more versions... God! I earn to little. Could you admit me which bank got weak security?

Cradle of Civilization: Asia
"The Indus River valley was home to the early Harappan civilization while the Yellow River valley in China saw the rise of the earliest Chinese dynasties. Both these regions would be included on the same map (which would be dominated by the Himalayans and jungles of SE Asia between these two fertile zones)."

Cradle of Civilization: The Americas
"Although civilization blossomed later in the western hemisphere, the region from Peru in the south to Mexico in the north was just as important as an incubator for the development of ancient cultures. This map would span this rugged area of jungles and highlands."

Cradle of Civilization: The Mediterranean
"The period of Classical Antiquity saw the rise of city states from Phoenicia, Greece, and later Rome and Persia. Their struggles all centered on the great sea in the “Middle of the Earth”, hence the name Mediterranean. This map will cover the entire Mediterranean basin including the nearby peninsulas and coasts where these great empires grew and prospered."

Cradle of Civilization: Mesopotamia
"The pack covers the traditional Western and Middle Eastern "Cradle of Civilization". It will include the Fertile Crescent with the Nile River valley to the west and extending east down the Tigris and Euphrates river valleys to the Persian Gulf. Leaders will be able to explore new terrain, cultures and conquests."

If you find any new configuration, or find any error above, please let me know.

When does the pre-order period close?
