Civ6 UI Fix Requests

Do you want to change the name of your cities?

  • No, give that kind of liberty to the player is a bad thing.

This automatic jump back and forth between the units is very annoying.
Especially when you are in a battle and are always taken away from the scene.
It is ok, to gets told "Hey a unit still needs commands" but I would like to decide in which order I give orders by my own. Can you disable this setting somehow?

What also disrupts in my opinion is that the AI can complain if you have units on thier border, but you can not.
In a game where I was a friend of the US, she'd parked an army over 20 laps directly at my border. But then complained, because I had parked ONE U-boat by them ...

It also would be nice if you could send requests to the AI like "Do not build cities on my continent or continent X.
At the moment you can complain only after a city was built right next to you.
I find this extremely annoying.

Civ6 is really good but I am missing more of such diplomatic things I would have liked.
Is out there someone with the same opinion as me?

Here a list of litle things that are annoying too:

1. You can not rename your Citiy's

2. No list of your Luxury goods like in Civ 5

3. You can not destroy a district an build it at an other position.

4. After you start your match you do not able to see the Seed of the Map somewhere.

5. In the overview of the city the built world-wide are displayed but not their effects

Hi
I want to change the name of my cities
Please
Common Sense
Private capability of recreation of the player = worst experience
A quick patch will be awesome
Thanks for reading
Bye

(Civ 6, of course)
Extra: Why there is still no a civ creator in game? I wonder if is that difficult to make.

Hear, Hear! I spent longer than I would like to admit angerly clicking on the city name trying to rename it when I first started playing. I still do it now out of spite. Randomize the names, and let us rename them at our discretion. ಠ_ಠ

The devs have said that city re-naming will be a thing at some point.

Why they left such an easy and obvious feature out of the base game is a mystery.

I find it very annoying when I am being attacked only for the war to be blocked by a message saying that another nation has cleared a barbarian outpost with a horseman!

Is there anyway to clear those useless messages or at least get them off the game board so I can see whats happening!

Faster unit movement (animation) is also my #1 wish for quality of life. Right now the choice is between instantaneous (ie no animation) and absurdly and painfully slow. If I move a ship 6 hexes I have to tab out and so something else while I wait for it to finish.

Hi, just a thought whilst playing civilization 6 was that there is no Military Tab panel: so you cannot find what military units you have unless you roam the entire gaming map.
A production que in the city production panel to be added.
would like your feed back: thank you for reading and taking time to reply.

If you select any unit, and click on the unit's name, up pops a scrollable listing of all of your units (military, civilian and religious).

Agree with about everything here. Yet the UI base is great. I think that after Civ V's UI that had been blamed as a christmas tree, they wanted to make the opposite, more complete, with discreet icons and buttons, while staying readable, usable and pretty. Still plenty to fix but they mostly succeeded

Civ 6's UI is a disgrace, and I'm not sorry to say it. Huge # inputs to accomplish basic tasks the same company did better 10 years ago, stripping menus that were crucial to the wide play the game encourages, providing false information in some rare cases, often hiding gameplay rules outright, forcibly selecting units...these are not the makings of an acceptable indy game UI. This is no indy game. The MP is better than either previous title on release. The balance isn't good but no worse than civ 5 vanilla's. The UI has seriously regressed in each of the past two entries in the series by any reasonable measure.

My suggestions as a starting point:

- Cut the ridiculous extra number of inputs to queue cities, waypoint, and even move units (next turn should mean next turn)
- The city list from civ 4 should come back, complete with changing builds from there.
- Give option to make trade route permanent until changed, and make a list for all active trade routes that can also be changed from the list.
- Stop lying to the player about what will happen with ranged attacks (units that move instead of ranged attack need to show pathing every time)
- Stop animating crap off screen. In fact, make quick combat not animate anything.
- Stop hiding gameplay rules. The exact contribution of tourism to victory is a gameplay rule. WE per action is a gameplay rule. These kinds of things should be relatively easy to determine through the UI, not hidden only to be revealed by trial and error or tests.

Flags for barb camps. The current chime, then player scours the map for the new camp is terrible. It gets worse as you explore more map, since the chime might signal a camp on the other side of the world or right in the jungle next door.

Don't know why so many people are asking about renaming cities. If you go to the city detail info screen, you can click on the city name and rename it to whatever you like. It's not convenient and it would be nice to have the option when you conquer the city or just settle it, but you can still do it.

My wishlist is the following:
1- option of having vassal states and puppet cities
2- more techs and units to enjoy each era longer and to enjoy the different aspects of warfare of different eras (ancient/medieval- axe-men, composite bowman, longbowman, renaissance- grenadiers, miners, curassairs, marshalls...etc)
3- an idea that I have tooling around with has been the Great Leader (I want to post about this as a separate thread since I'm curious to get other opinions of it)
4- mercenaries- the option of levying individual units of a city state or allied Civ.
5- spies bribing units and cities to revolt
6- spies paying barbarians to attack another Civ (at war or not, massive diplomatic penalty if not at war)

The reason is that at the time they posted it, you couldn't do that... it was a fix that came later.

why are there so many issues with civilization 6.
crashing, no sound combat when close to own cities, automated units not moving, culture/research panel not showing number of turns required (sometimes), first government change researched, went to government tab and had to pay 50g to change type of government when should be free, trade units built in 1 city does not show all available routes in trade tab only for that 1 city have to move trade unit to another city to see other trade possibilities.

why don't the game makers or tech staff make this game more stable, shame on you
