Civilization 5 musical themes

While I don't like the opening theme as much as I liked Baba Yetu from the vanilla IV opening, the game music is generally awesome! Arabia peace time is hands down my favorite -- such sweeping epic hauntingness and mellow hypnotics! I have the sound track, but was disappointed about two things. First off, my favorite track not included, and secondly, it just didn't sound as good as during the game. Maybe it's the streaming waves and sea gulls?

Also, one thing I HATED about IV was the abrupt change when entering a city screen. The transitions are much much better in V.

I find the Civ5 leader themes to be more authentic and representative of the cultures. Much of Civ4's was original. I disliked Pakal (sounds like farts) Napoleon (bad rendition of La Marseillaise), Ethiopia (bunch of beats, could do better), Inca (not really pleasant to my ears), Bismarck (pretty slow), Greek (Epitaph of Seikilos beats it), Korea (hope they do better, this one is not really Korean) Mali, Persia (not really Persian, reused Babylonian theme), Rome.

My favorites were Celt (maybe they're do something similar for them in 5), Portuguese (can do similar too), Dutch (similar too), Holy Roman Empire, Hannibal (prolly not real Carthaginian music), Sumerian (catchy, but authentic, no), Lincoln, Saladin, Babylon, Frederick, Late Japan, Sitting Bull, Ottoman, Catherine, Isabella. Overall, the Beyond the Sword themes are better than the vanilla.

Some tracks don't compare with 5, Mongolian long song vs. Mongol Internationale, no contest.
Mao's and Qin Shi Huang's themes don't hold a candle to Gao Shan Liu Shui. Egypt's theme in 5 is more authentic to me.

There are some Dvorak music in 5, just in European sections. I prefer other sets not have classical music, unless composed by someone from those regions. I would like a separate African music category (for Zulu, Ethiopia, prolly move Songhai) Too bad, they used Native American for Polynesia.

So Tiaw Tang is a Thai song? It's one of my favorites in the Asia section, probably because other tracks lack singing.:D Are the other Southeast Asia music all Thai? The ones I can tell are Chinese, Japanese, and Indian. My mom can recognize many of the Chinese songs, they must be pretty well known.

For Middle East, I like Jallaman and some others I can't name right now.

European, I like Elipse, Lacrimae, American Dreams, Our Town and some others.

Native American. like Blackfoot Nights and other tracks which are not just drumming.

So you have the book, perhaps we can check those Thai songs on youtube and see if they sound similar to Ramkhamhaeng theme?

Tiaw Tang is my favorite. actually, Civ 3 had a few great ones for china and japan.

civ 4 had good celt music. actually, civ soundtracks in general are pretty high quality on terms of "world" or "new age" or dare i say "classical" type music.

Hmm. Let's check the Thai songs only, I doubt they would use another SE Asian country's music for Siam, but they did for Songhai, so who knows?:D

LOL, right now, my backdoor neighbors are having a party with a band. Civ music is definitely better than whatever they're playing.

I have all of the Leaders' peace and war themes in a playlist, so cool. I just play it while I'm typing or working.

Where is the music located? I want to do this!

Computer/Program files/assets/sounds

You should be able to find them somewhere there:)

I just downloaded the music from youtube using this converter: http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

Simply copy the url of the civ 5 theme you are listening to on youtube, and paste it on there, and hit convert video :)

I like most of the leader music, but not the in-game music for the most of it. civ 4 theme and in-game music with civ 5 leader music would be great.
