Even beyond the obvious joy of civ reveal, it is kinda satisfying for all those "leaks" to turn completely useless

My brother and I taught ourselves to play the original Civ with no manual back in the early 90s. I didn't realise how much I needed a new iteration of Civ, hahaha

I know "coming soon" is very vague, and I know we can anticipate ~6 months of lead time, but man it'd be hype if it were coming out in the next 3 months or something.

I think September/October is very precedented and pretty realistic for the marketing timeframe

Yeah that's what I meant (Octoberish), not sure why I said 6 months
. May to October (Civ 6) was 5 months. I just meant it'd be nice to get it this summer basically

Do you remember what the release of info for Civ VI was like? I wasn't around. Was the first trailer reveal the actual cinematic that appears when starting up the game, or something else?

Civ 6 was announced in May of 2016. They released the cinematic trailer and opened the Steam store page, which had some inaccurate blurbs and about 6 screenshots. Then we didn't get anything else for about 2 weeks until E3 time. That was a livestream with Quill18. It took another week or so after that for the first First Look video.
This was the information release schedule through June.
