Civilization V ?

Wow! Congrats!
The vid is short but I dig the vibe of the art style :goodjob:
I checked that site just 2 hours ago, it just redirected me to civilization.com :D

And I guess this is a no to my last question about Soren.
Soren left Firaxis a long time ago. Though he is sorely missed, of course.

The handsome gents at IGN have a preview up.

Boo at using hexes. Boo!

My mind is blowwwn.

Finally! I hope they fix the global warming and make the late game more enjoyable.

I will probably have to buy a better computer now, so I can play it.

Thanks Firaxis! The previews look good so far. I am excited.

Looks like pretty intense graphics!
The cities look stupid though...

That's really cool. Zuffox, you were not hoaxing us, still think it was lily-livered not to post anything, but whatever. Thanks for the 30 minute head start!

Heh, already the comments of Civ IV players about Civ V sound alarmingly like the comments of Civ III players about Civ IV.

It looks fantastic. Let's hope it's got lots of interesting new ideas to the gameplay as well.

Don't expect too much of the screenshots yet. I think they are raw. Release date is fall this year so a lot can happen by then :p

True. But once it's launched I think a lot of Civ IV players will like Civ V. They just need a little adaption.

For the new option:
City-states
Larger diplomacy
More victories

Sounds nice already :>. But ofcourse they're will be a lot more.

edit: mmm sorry guys it seems I can't delete my own post, so I can merge this one with the one above.

Awesome, hexagonal tiles! And the graphics look really good! I'm looking forward to the fall now.

those horses look terrible lol

That looks very good (apart from the animals, I wonder why they're saving on polygons there...). Hexagonal tiles will allow a bit more realistic map (possibly even pseudospherical). Overall, seems... nice. Perhaps I'll rent a life for next summer so I don't get bored while waiting for the Fall!

Awesome. You, sir, are my hero. Well played! :goodjob:

- X
No problem. :)

Remember: if I had the rights to create a thread, I would've divulged more information; I just wanted to elicit a reaction from the mods, but the cat is finally out of the bag.

Although no one seems to have mentioned another big scoop about the game - and one minor. :p

EDIT: Wait, a couple more now that I think of it.

My reactions to the "Features" section

Eighteen civs only? Well, more isn't always better.

Advisors? The city council is coming back? Huzzah! :D

Trading land? Sounds nice and realistic enough.

Armies spreading across the landscape? No more SoD you say?

Unprecedented modding tools? Sound at least as cool as Civ IV.

And that V in the logo is neat...

The move to a hex map is fantastic.

Hopefully this, and the "armies spread across the landscape" means some form of adjacency bonuses/zone of control/units-per-tile restrictions a la Military Madness is in the works.
