[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

To be fair it would be a funny ability that every Egyptian artifact that was found by another civilization gave some tourism toward you as well.
Ooh... That would be an interesting way to win a Cultural Victory: Let all the others get your Artifacts while you just build Wonders.

Take that England and your British Museum, when playing without GS rules.

With regards to what a second season could include for civs, the door is wide open. All the series regulars are accounted for.

Civs that have shown up before that could appear again:
Hittites/Assyria
Iroquois/Sioux/Shoshone
Morocco
Venice

Yes to all of those, I think that if we don't get Italy we might even get a different renaissance city state, like Florence.

Gaps that could be filled:
Northwest North Africa
More Sub-Saharan Africa
More Native North Americans outside of Meso-America
Central Asia, particularly Turkic or Persianized

I keep hoping for a breakup of India so that we can have Mughals, Maurya and modern India.

Popular requests:
Native American tribes of all sorts
Moors/Berbers
Italy or variations thereof
Assyria

I think that mesoamerica, is not nearly as "filled" as people think it is, heck It's practicaly ignored when it comes to CS even. If it comes to another season I really hope they don't expand on Europe past and Italian representative.

It's definitely more filled than Native North America who only has Cahokia as a city-state and the Cree. :p
Depending on if we get another tribe or two, North America could easily be still filled with a Pueblo city-state, a PNW cultural city-state, or militaristic if they go for the Haida, and a scientific Cherokee city-state etc.

Or a militaristic Shawnee city-state like Chillicothe.

With Tecumseh as its leader in the tribe/barbarian/city-state expansion.

Actually wait that would make more sense as a tribe than as a city-state.
Tecumseh leads the all Eastern tribes in Civ 6 as the Tecumseh Confederacy.
It's a joke of course, as he would just lead a Shawnee civ probably.

I think the big question is what city-state is going to replace Lisbon, which will probably rule them out for a second season. I'm thinking Copenhagen considering Denmark returning wasn't really likely to begin with.

Copenhagen or Genoa, probably. Maybe Antwerp.

I think Copenhagen is the most likely. Hopefully they'll give a unique Lego luxury resource to their suzerain :crazyeye:

and that's why I don't want to see more than 1 european civ in another season, way to much of the world to explore.

Yeah please no Genoa. The dream of Italy must stay alive.

They'd probably just keep Lisbon's bonuses of traders over water can't be pillaged. Which would now be a great city-state for Portugal to be a suzerain of most likely.

Italy and Maria Theresa leading Germany/Austria is a compromise I could live with. :mischief:

The only thing that would really surprise me is some refinements to the tech and civic trees but I'm not getting my hopes up. NFP has a lot of new, shiny objects but doesn't really offer any kind deeper gameplay for more experienced players. All of the civs and game modes, aside from the Maya, seem like they are geared towards more casual players, which is fine, but there does need to be something for everyone and there doesn't seem to anything for people who want some challenging game mechanics.

Siberia is bigger than Europe still dont have any representative while Europe is filled with civs and city states.

Now on America as relatively small as Mesoamerica is, it was the most populous region of the Americas representing around 1/3 of the whole continent by 4000 years of the 6000 years covered on game. It is also a region of proper urban kingdoms and republics from many different language families with the oldest recorded history on the whole western hemisphere. It is also know that the population density of South America was bigger than what is now USA and Canada (mainly because the central andean kingdoms and empires). So in terms of population and history the only western (edit*) region underrepresented on game is Mesoamerica. Even Oceania is better covered on the same terms.

Not only that:
"Portugal, our most requested Civ, is making their way in the final(!) DLC release for the Civ VI New Frontier Pass!"

Am I reading too much into that exclamation point?

I interpret that they are pleased that the season is complete.

I'm really thoughtful about how much they emphasize "our final DLC of NFP ".
