[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

All the civs on NFP have been released on the order of from west to eastwards, starting with the Americas pack of Maya and GC and gone eastwards now to Kublai and Vietnam.

I wonder is it just a coincidence? Next stop for the civ in the #6 could be back to American continent.

I still think that Portugal is the last civ. Portugal has been along with Byzantium and Ethiopia ones I was hoping for the most so I would be glad though.
I mean technically Ethiopia is located more eastward than Gaul or Byzantium, well at least Constantinople. :p

But I do think Pack 6 will either back to North America or Portugal.

the simple fact that they wanted 2 european civ’s and only one african civ kinda explains that, although i would’ve gladly taken just gaul in pack 2 and pack 3 have been Ethiopia and Swahili/Buganda/Berbers/Morocco/Zimbabwe/Mutapa/Wolof/Madagascar over just Ethiopia and then Gaul and Byzantium

hmm do we have flat earthers here? or people not understanding how a globe works? if you go west eventually you will become east of your starting location and vice versa.

There is enough history of humanity for another pack and another and another. it all depends if NFP was profitable enough to make the effort and that decision would have been made months ago.
I personally hope they keep adding content a la EU and CK series but then again if they have already started civ7 and it is only 2-3 years away i can see how they would not want to muddy the waters too much.

I mean Byzantium was guaranteed to eventually come though I had it in that pack paired with either Assyria or Babylon as a "Middle East" pack.

Well Menelik II was in my recent game. Which is kind of ironic considering he wants to settle on hills as well. :mischief:

If they *really* wanted to profit like that, they could lead with Portugal, and then finally represent Morocco and Venice properly or surprise us and switch out Venice for that Genoa Civ. Maybe really try and bring back the Hittites. That’s 4 right off the bat.

Then maybe take some from the most plausible list like Bulgars (Sofia & Preslav) and Oman (Ormus & Muscat).

Last step would be maybe 2 out of nowhere Civs like Mughals / anywhere in Turan and Bagan / Myanmar / Burma and boom — marketable pass.

They could easily do another round (NFP) with just civ and leaders. I'd even be happy if they did another pack quarterly. 4 New civ and 4 new leaders, 1 every season. Here is to hoping.

Portugal Austria Hitties Huns Thailand/Siam/Burma/Myammar Iroquis/Sioux/Apache/Comanche Argentina/Chile Morocco/Berber/Numidia Venice/Genoa Finland/Denmark are all low hanging fruit being already in this series at least once.

Every option you could possibly think of is low-hanging fruit because all civs are actually the same, therefore they have all been in the series already.

When has Burma/Myanmar, Argentina/Chile, Berber/Numidia (I guess under Morocco maybe?), Genoa and Finland been in the game?
I assume when you say Apache/Comanche you mean the Native American blob from Civ 4 plus the Comanche were part of the Shoshone in Civ 5.

Just a side note, I know some of us tried to guess the leader by guessing which available leaders he/she can recycle some animations off of. Here are the animations of Ba Trieu
She didn't recycle any animation from Gorgo like we guessed, even her idles. You can put her in your game and make some trade deals with her to confirm this. There is a chance the last leader has completely unique animations as well.

Huh, you're right. Here's hoping--and maybe a future art pass can brush up the other leaders as well (unlikely, but hope springs eternal).

Just want to note again, disparity between her model and Kublai is dire.

At this point, I don’t even know if I’d buy another DLC pack. I got NFP out of a desire to be completionist and have all the civs but with exception to the first three civs, I didn’t particularly enjoy how any of them played, and the lack of interest in the content has also taken away from any excitement I’d have for another pack.

Not to mention that I wasn’t particularly interested in any of the new civs besides vietnam (which turned out to have a design which i thought was fairly lacking, with no water puppet theatre over yet another encampment replacement), and a lot of opportunities for new civs (or at least more interesting returning ones) were bottled—with another postcolonial civ in (tbf, a good leader choice) Gran Colombia over the Muisca or Guarani as indigenous South American civilizations, and there being no new African civ (even though we really need a new one. Ethiopia was long awaited though, to be fair).

I don’t have faith that another pack would bring well-designed civs which I personally look forward to see. Central/South(east) Asia, Africa and Indigenous North America are notably empty, and could easily be filled if the dev team *wanted* to. Additionally, I think Firaxis could be better served readdressing some of the worse existing designs, like Maori (which feels devoid of any real Maori cultural flavor in place of a super-generic polynesian civ with a specific polynesian culture name on top of it) or Sumer (which...just feels wrong).

Maori’s design is quite fun too, so if they wanted to package it’s reskin with applying the ocean start and some other aspects of its design with a Tonga/Hawaii civ that would be pretty interesting as well, though unlikely may it be.

Unlikely they'd bring another Poly civ, but not unlikely they'd do such swap as from minor degree we had that with Sweden/Kristina borrowing major aspect of old England which got replaced with the Workshop of the World. The Ocean Start sounds like much bigger deal but I wouldn't fully banish possibility of more fitting Polynesian Civ being released with it alongside change to Maori. Besides, we do be having old civ updates in one of updates.

Not sure how it would be implemented considering the ocean start is tied to the leader, which is really the only thing that Kupe is known for.

If Chang isn't in the March video update, then it will likely indicate the leader will recycle idle animations.

Also, there's no Feb video yet. Is it 40 min from now?

To be fair, he was in the September video and Ambiorix still recycles Shaka. People claim Basil recycles Genghis as well, although I haven't paid close attention to see if it's true.

I'd be fine ending the game after one more half-pass tbh.

There's more to add, sure, but I feel like the game would be more-or-less "complete" after just four more civs.
  • Maghreb civ (e.g. Morocco, Berbers, etc.)
  • American civ (e.g. Navajo, Iroquois, etc.)
  • Ancient civ (e.g. Hittites, Assyria, etc.)
  • Portugal
If one of these is the last NFP civ, then just replace it with a free space for something like another South American civ or a Venice replacement or whatever. And if you want to continue the trend of every expansion having an alt-leader, throw Egypt a Hatshepsut-shaped bone.

Done, roster complete, move on to Civ 7 now.
