Civilization VII - Gameplay Reveal Trailer (Gamescom Opening Night Live - 8/20) Discussion

Antiquity and Age of Exploration support up to five players. The Modern Era supports up to eight players.

As a multiplayer fan, this statement worries me...
As a single player fan, this worries me even more.

I'll be disappointed if the map's gotten much smaller somehow.

I wonder if the shot of Cleo and Caesar arguing is a hint of the diplomacy where we will see our leaders interact with each other based on their mood towards each other?
That's just a marital spat.

I love the way the map looks. I'm slighly worried about all the comparisons to Humankind with the ages, and leaders looking like they came from Ara.

Oh, and funny that the first civ officially confirmed was the Shawnee. :crazyeye:

What does this even entail????

What does that even mean? Like, is the world supposed to expand the more technology progresses? Do we get special tech that inflates the map?! What is going on?!

I really hope it doesn't mean it's a Humankind system where there are unique civs for each era but there AREN'T AN EQUAL NUMBER OF CIVS PER ERA

Even Humankind got that right

What does this even entail????
What if there's a whole decolonization/revolution mechanic, which many people wanted, and new 3 civs sprout from the other empires?

side note: the music on the livestream is quite pleasant, even if the spam-filled chat is not

Ho dear:

I'm not sure if HUMANKIND, BUT WITH LEADERS is the direction they should be heading.

Not trying to be a Debbie downer but on a scale of 10 this is an instant -4 for me. They’re really going to have to Wow me now with gameplay… the Civ switching broke immersion so bad for me that I couldn’t even stomach playing Humandkind

I don't know, maybe I've just aged out of this kinda thing if all of these hints are so discouraging to me. Getting a similar level of disappointment to what I experienced in the (entirely different genre) Pokemon Legends Z-A announcement.

Rule as one of many legendary leaders from throughout history and steer the course of your story by choosing a new civilization to represent your empire in each Age of human advancement.

Crap. They are doing the pick a new civ in each new era like in Humankind. I am not a big fan of that. Hopefully, civ does it better so there is a better sense of continuity from era to era.

I got the idea that they were doubling down on immersion from the way they talked about it. I would be really upset and confused if they did some immersion breaking Civ switching mechanic. I doubt it a little
