cMM2 - STRANDED (easy level, tough map)

Meaning, you should choose a productive city that can grow and develop. As opposed to city at least X tiles away that is in the middle of at least Y other cities for the purposes of developing a second ring.

Not exactly. Make that "...perfect distance."
Near perfect city spot is mandatory, with the FP city the only other city with zero corruption (after Court+PS).

Which was my understanding....my idea being that you would at least have one very low corruption city in the other continent, which can be useful.

I'll be away from almost three weeks from Tuesday on.

Sabo, will you please run the game for me?

You sure you don't want to wait three weeks?

Sorry Guys no play by play. We got the FP now. I hope when we find an AI we are able to find a lot on the same turn.

That could be useful, agreed. I would still prefer to have the effect of an extra courthouse in every friendly city (now) than the same effect plus a less corrupt far away city (later). The money and shields lost in the several hundred years it will take us to build that far away city would be huge. And we would need a leader to rush the FP so far away, since production would probably run around 1 or 2 SPT.

Who's on base? I'm confused by all the skips. Roster, anyone?

phew lol, after posting I suddenly thought to myself "............ am I up??"

Ok, I'm waiting for Steviejay to do his magic, and I'll follow...

do his magic? :lol:

ok, consider this my "got it". I'm at college at the moment but I'll play when I get home. Is there anything in particular we want to aim for, just as a basis to go on?

In general, I'd like to build up more infra, maybe get a nice palace prebuild for a wonder we'll learn how build when we contact everyone. No rush on contacts. Keep it mellow. Encourage our citizens to vote. For us.

Inherited- nout to do. From reading I’m planning on building up infrastructure and then building galleys. I’ll try to avoid contact so no suicide galleys.
Ur Ed War – Ed War
570(1) Move the Ed warrior to Kish and a swordsman to Lagash for MP duties
580(2) 2 Ed warriors produced. Change some productions from Ed warriors to markets to try to combat the -10gpt we’re running at.
590(3)Market built in Sumer > Library.
600(4)Bad-tibira builds a library > Courthouse.
610(5)Umma library > Galley
620(6)Change science from 60 to 50. No change but go to -4. Construction due in 4.
630(7) zzzz
640(8) Lagash Library > Market.
650(9) Ur Galley > Galley, Sumer Library > Galley. Change science to 40%. Construction due in 1 at 5gpt
660(10) Construction > Poly
670(11) Kish Library > Aqueduct, Umma Galley > Aqueduct
680(12)Ur Galley > Aqueduct
690(13)zzzz
700(14) Sumer Galley > Aqueduct
710(15) Agade Temple > Market
720(16) Bad-tibira Courthouse > Aqueduct
730(17)Ur Aqueduct > Galley
740(18) Research Poly, get Feudalism as free tech
750(19) Ur riots :hmm: looked fine when I checked. Sorry. Change production to Coliseum
760(20)zzzzz

Sorry guys about Ur rioting. Apart from that it was really uneventful. Sorry if I screwed up somewhere

Ah, it seems I'm up again. Ok, got it. Looks to remain rather eventful without us actively searching for contacts. Oh well...

Pre-flight check:
Switch a few builds, nothing major. Take research down to put us in the plus.

770 AD (1) - Nothing much
780 AD (2) - Sumer, aqueduct -> colosseum.
790 AD (3) - Lagash, Marketplace -> Aqueduct
Kish, Aqueduct -> Colosseum
The Greek complete the sistinte chapel
800 AD (4) - Erech, Aqueduct -> Colosseum
Bad-Tibira, Aqueduct -> Colosseum
810 AD (5) - Kish riots, DOH!
Banana, Harbor -> Temple
820 AD (6) - Starvation at Kish?!?!?!?!
830 AD (7) - Nothing much
840 AD (8) - NOthing much
850 AD (9) - Hittites complete Smith's
860 AD (10) - Nothing much

I made sure not to waste any shields in completing buildings to maximize
our gold income. After engineering we should cut research to a minimum so
we can raise our luxury tax and let our cities grow. It shouldn't be long
until the first AI comes sailing by I think. At least one of the AI's has
economics long enough to build Smith's.

Okay, so I went ahead and played a full 20 turns....

Wow. We sure are, well, stranded, like the man says. I think I'll send at least one galley out, not so much to make contact, but just so we can figure out where our enemies may live. I can see that (presumably) Carthage built a city in that land to the far, far west. I think I'll send my galley to the SW.

1.) Ur -- built colliseum, changed to settler because, well, it's usually handy to have a settler hanging around.
2.) N/A
3.) Lagash built aqueduct -- change to colliseum. Sent a suicide galley to the SW.
4.) Suicide galley....lived up to its name. Began shifting units so that we have at least two in each city for MP purposes.
5.) Continued unit reshuffle.
6.) Banana riots (oops!) Ur built settler -- changed Ur to wealth, no need for add'l units right now, and cash can be handy.
7.) Sumer builds colliseum, change to granary.
8.) Science set to 0% to get extra $$$ -- one turn to ENgineering
9.) Discovered Engineering, changed to The Republic. If we're just going to be sitting here waiting for someone to stumble over us, we might as well make some extra money, and then be able to rush build stuff with cash. The building of Adam Smith tells me that we may as well forget building any Medieval era wonders.
10) Lagash Riots. Damn! Damn! Damn!
11) Moving extra Enkidu Warrior to Banana. Also, might as well keep a galley stationed down there.
12) N/A
13) Sumer builds granary -- go for wealth
**** Hittites build Copernicus' Observatory. ****
14) N/A
15) Bad builds Colliseum -- switch to marketplace.
16) Agade builds Marketplace -- to Aqueduct
17) **** The Koreans have been destroyed. ****
18) Add'l Enkidu deployed to Banana Island.
19) Kish builds colliseum, switch to granary. Rush build temple at Banana Island, lose 2 citizens, but the extra Enkidu and Temple should keep the discontented citizens at bay.
20) Temple built at Banana, switch to courthouse. Adjust science to 20%, Republic in 1 turn.

So, looks like the next player gets to revolt to Republic...

Carlos,
I'll take the game for three weeks when you go, just let me know when, sorry I haven't been contributing too much guys, I've been busy with my Dad...
