Hi vyyt. I started by trying the versions available through the autoinstaller link (7-29-1 and 7-17-3) and. Initially I did install the EUI thing, but have have since done a complete clean and reinstall of Civ5. I've also tried the most recent beta and a couple of old versions, all with the same results. I'm wondering if I missed a string somewhere from the initial EUI install, but I've tried to reinstall, and manually instal EUI and can't seem to get it working properly. I found your post earlier to hunt down the EUI folder to make sure I had vamosed it, but it still isnt loading properly... bad times. I can, however, get a version from 2017 to work (7-27), but its horrendously out of date.
Hmmm, that's strange. Even stranger that the old VP worked for you.
a) Do you have all the DLCs? (you probably do, if you made the old version of VP work)
b) When using the autoinstaller, I suppose you let it do it its stuff and you did NOT delete any folders manually, correct?
c) Do you run the game under your Administrator account in Windows? Have you tried turning off the antivirus/firewall during the installation? I am wondering if they could be interfering somehow.
d) Have you changed your installation of Steam? When you reinstalled Civ5, I suppose you did so to the same location ... ? The user Frozen in Ice had some strange leftovers in the Windows registry from a previous Steam install (to a different location) - see our conversation on the previous page.
Either way, I'd try a clean VP install again, so at least we are all on the same page for the trouble-shooting. I'd:
1) Manually run a search for "UI_bc1" (= EUI) on all your drives. Delete all instances you find.
2) Manually run a search for "Community Patch". Delete all instances of all the Vox Populi components in the same location.
3) Move all other (= non VP) mods from the MODs folder to a backup folder
4) Unsubscribe from all mods on Steam (- you can favorite them, so that you can redownload them later)
5) Go up 1 level from the MODs folder in the file structure and manually delete the "cache" and "ModUserData" folder (the game will create new ones)
6) Download the latest beta (4-17) and run the autoinstaller from you administrator account with the antivirus and firewall off
7) Choose the non-EUI variant during the install (- let's try the simpler setup first)
