Computer Spec. Required

I happened to be ready for a new laptop this year anyway, and with Civ VI on its way, I decided to splurge a bit :)

MSI Ge62 6QF Apache Pro
I7-6700HQ, 16 GB, GTX 970M

I was looking at some new equipment, the HP windows 10 mobile.
Any idea whether it would be able to play Civ 6?

I want to be able to play the new game, and willing to buy new tablet/pc to play it.
I have android phone and tablet, but I was disappointed years ago, that it would not play windows games.
Dont buy this to play games. Period. Its a business tool.

For gaming you have 3 options.

Buy a good desktop sacrificing mobility for performance.
Buy an expansive gaming laptop.
Buy a mainstream laptop and be okay having mediocre performances.

Turn times in Civ V have always been terrible for me. They start off poor in the early game, and in the late game they can become excruciatingly long. Civ IV, in comparison, has much faster turn times. Has anything been revealed on the turn times for Civ VI? Can we expect them to be faster?

The big question for me is... IS THIS A 64 BIT GAME?

I don't think we have answers on either of those yet.

Hi everybody,

First thread ever posted on Civfanatics, so first of all, I want to thank everybody in the community for the good job of gathering and sharing information.

I´d like to take advantage of Civ VI coming up this year to buy a new laptop, my current personal laptop being 7 years old and not functionning anymore

The new ROG G701 certainly drew my attention, 4k screen, g-sync technology, GeForce 980, ultimate generation i7 processor, directx12, the whole deal, sounds really good. The price tag however isn´t that cool, and I will certainly not spend $3800 that I don´t have in a laptop

Therefore I would like to get you guys´ advice on what you think are solid specs to fully enjoy the CIV VI experience for years to come ;)

Thanks!

i would suggest Windows 8 or better. and $1200- $1300 is an ideal price for a top of the line machine. Anything over would be paying too much. Just my opinion of course.

Yes it is & it will also come on dx12. You could check Arioch's website for more info.

I really hope that there will be full support for UHD.

IMHO, Firaxis should disclose the system requirements, since it's accepting (and encouraging) pre-orders.

It's a safe bet to assume that any slightly gaming oriented rig will be enough to play CiVI comfortably. Graphic card requirement will probably be the less important component there considering CIV games arent that demanding here.

I think one of the best investment for a CiV game is an SSD based computer.

with the current summer discounts, i grabbd a laptop with an SSD\HDD combo, 8 Gig Ram (will extend), I7 6XXXX whatever and a GTM 960 for 800 euros or so. And i think the 960M is over the top for CiVI

Very much this.

SSD in CiV does not make much difference in loading times. I moved my CiV folder from SSD to HDD to save some place for other games that can use it better.

I tweeted the official civi tweeter account about this. They answered that they re finalizing the specs
