Now that I've thought about it a bit, I think the improved base stats came about 'cause of the new 'class' you picked, rather than fr transmigration lost levels. We'll see...

You can try checking the base stats for your transmigrated created char against what the base stats would be, if you're to create that char fr scratch, at genius level...

Also, I've read that with each successive genius transmigration, the mana cost for created characters actually goes up quickly. :(

I read in a thread at GameFAQS, that a Genius created character transed at Genius will still improve. hen you trans, the levels you 'lose' are 'stored' or kept track of... Say you trans at level 100. Second time you trans at level 200. Third time, there will be 300 levels 'stored' and THAT is where your base stat improvements come in. Remember I said my base stats actually dropped so I reloaded on my second trans? I could have kept going apparently because it would only be a temporary loss, and by the time I did my third or fourth trans, the loss would be made up for plus some... This is why they stress transing at a higher level each time until around 3000... When you reach level 3000, the 'stored' levels needed to upgrade base stats is like 2400 or 2600 so they will improve each time when you get to 3000 and trans...

As for successive transing costing more mana... Like my above trick with Laharl and his 3x3 attack... ANY character can learn that attack if their weapon ability with the Sword gets high enough... I'm thinking of picking up some Armsmasters... They cap at 2400 though. I've got like 152 on a spear right now.  Further on you get, the more mana you get. Apparently you will end up literally with millions of mana points all going to waste when you trans.

Keep a balance of progressing the storyline and building up your party. You'll see more mana, more exp, more hell, more residents.

I raised my 'More Expensive Items' bill three times last night and now I can't afford anything! $800,000 weapons... If I keep at that level for mana with Laharl, I get 10,000 hell each time... Seems good but not good enough for my purposes! That high level item I was in was giving me 30,000-40,000 per battle and if hell was unlocked on the bonus gauge, it was usually 60,000 or 70,000... Aye this game is a killer. I looked at my time played last night when I shut it off and I had topped 75 hours. :shame:

I know this part, for story characters...

But the FAQ on transmigration specifically states that for created characters (your archer, ninja etc), the new base stat will simply be that of the new class you choose, as per what you would see via the normal char creation screen. This is the portion I'm concerned about... for created characters. ;)

Do you know that FF Tactics Advanced is out for the GBA? I'm now so into this; I'm seriously considering getting a GBA SP to play it (in Singapore). It looks cool too. :)

True true. Imagine you create a warrior that transmigrates to a mage. The mage wown't have beefed up HP and ATK from being a warrior. But the bonus points from transing with the stored levels will be there. I don't know if this affects the yellow or blue bars in base stats...

I contemplated the same thing! But I've heard bad things about FFTA. Very dumbed down... Bot gameplay and storywise... Seriously, you should get the original FFT. It is on the Greatest Hits list now, and it is a QUALITY game. People constantly are comparing FFT and Disgaea now, but both have their plusses. You like Disgaea, you'll like FFT. And there is a ton of info on FFT since it's bene out for so long. Many classes unlockable, but each class has different skills, and eventually you can mix and match skills so a Ninja is using a Samurai special, or casting magic etc. I was always wondering why they didn't make a sequel, and when they finally do, it's for Nintendo's PDA... :scan:

Well, I almost bought it just now, during dinner with my pals.

I'd posted in the GC thread, challenging them guys to convince me, sort of. Well, more like asking for opinions actually. :)

Which is why I said we'll have to investigate this closely. Since you're deeper into the game :) (I've only logged 40 hours and can't play during the workweek I'm in Singapore)... :p

What can I say - great minds think alike! :crazyeye:

I need a console for Singapore - I've more PS/PS2 games to look into than I care in Malaysia. ;)

A handheld, mobile small one like the GBA SP will be good for me, considering the hours I waste each week going thru and fro...

Whoa... It's night time over there? I'm just starting my damn day at work... :( I'd much rather be preparing to go to bed... :D

Well I will do my part of the research/note taking, but I'm not planning on class changing... I have one of each class now but the three tough to unlock ones, and I am planning on upgrading them in their respective classes but that's it. I got my first Testament! 300 deaths at the Hospital gives it to you. I rerolled until it was rare. Raises all Base stats by 250, some more depending on residents. Has 100 Marksman, 59 Gladiators, and 53 Sentry. It's 1st level in Item World has levell 66 monsters. I'ma make some runs through some Mint Gums and replenish my supply of Gency Gates so I can try this Testament a level or two at a time.

Well I'd say buy the GBA then. It would be convenient for you. When you gonna ban superevie? It is color and it has FFTA which IS probably a better game than many PS2 games out there... It's fairly inexpensive... I don't know other games for it really...

Let me guess - angel, recruit and majin? :)

What I mean by testing is transmigrate your already transmigrated created characters a second time to let's say the 6th level of their class, and compare their base stats and see if any 'extra' has been calculated for lost levels during the first transmigration.

Probably will. :) But I'll leech the brains of the GC folks here first.

Angel recruit and majin it is... I wouldn't know where to start XIII!!! I have upped the class each time I transed... Not to sixth though... I have a brawler who will be able to trans here soon to Wushu Master which is like the 5th tier up... My Rogue went to Strider which is the 4th tier up... Only class I have completely open is the Mages which is really quite easy... 300 Statisticians and Triple Exp bill on 5-3 takes a character from level 1 to level 53 each time.

Did you miss my subliminal line in that last paragraph? :p You even quoted me on it...

As for sleeping, do you use pillows or those rolls? With like beans in them or whatever? I could never sleep with those when I was growing up. Too Americanized...

I refuse to post on Staff matters in my normal posts. :p

Pillows. We don't use those bean-things here, in Asia. Or at least not in my part of the world... :hmm: ;)

Well I know the pillow rolls are used by Koreans... I didn't know for a fact others used them...

Cool deal... You'll have to tell me what you think of FFTA.

Woohoo, I've bought a cobalt-colored (blue) GBA SP, along with FFTA. [dance] :D Now charging...

I'm considering buying a GBA and FFTA to. Tell us what its like. :)

Much similar to Disgaea, but I have only gotten thru the tutorial so... No transmigration or Item World though... Maybe. I don't think there's any character lifting and throwing either... Nor Geo-panels...

Now more problems getting used to the small screenie and 'odd' buttons than any game issues - haven't really started off with my 'campaign' yet. :) Gaming mobility is great. :yeah:

The item and spell names (so far) sound much like those in FFX - echo screens, eye drops etc.

You can try checking out the GC thread - those guys were talking about it now ('cause I posted there...). ;)

Thrawn, I hear it is not as good as FFT. But XIII hasn't played FFT so he's kind of in the good position... If he likes it enough, he could get FFT and have the best of both worlds. If you haven't played FFT, I'd suggest you do FFTA first also. Looks to be the best route.

Not saying FFTA is bad, but being a GBA game, there is going to be some limitations on it in comparison to other games...

I've played 5 'missions' of FFTA. I'll have to say it's quite good, considering it's for the GBA. Mainly, it's like running a mercenary company always on the lookout for jobs (missions). You pay a fee for these jobs, which has fixed rewards (gil and/or items).

Graphics look good, all things considered. Though very small; will have to get used to it...

Game element is well-designed. Turns in battle is based on initiative, dependant on speed I guess, for all units. Makes sense. Also you get exp, fr just about anything, fr using items, casting cure spells too. No more hassle over levelling up clerics, or rather white mages in this case.

Also, each char can change jobs; depending on the race, you can switch betw a few classes. :) Probably fr FFX2, conceptually.

Otherwise, substitute a world map for the Overlord castle, and it will play much like Disgaea.

Played 20 hours over this weekend; doing some massive levelling up of my party - incl raising my star mage from level 1 to 53 with one kill. Now my chars ranged betw nearing 80 to mid 50s.

My Flonne is now a kickass spellcaster - I got her to learn all the Star spells fr the star mage. :) I think I'll do the same with my cleric as well... Also gotten almost all of them with extra movement and counter, fr the Dark Assembly...

I also find powering up your existing equipment to be more cost-effective than forever buying the next 'best' equipment.

I saw the Prism Rangers; laughed my ass off. Disgaea has a great story - making spoofs of all those Japanese anime themes and other popular cultural icons. :D Also the Captain Gordon fr the 'Earth Defense Force', the Japanese name of which was an overused term in many animes. :)

Oh yeah, I also found a legendary axe during one of my Item sorties. After powering it up, it's quite ok. I'm making Etna learning axe skills now. :)

I also had a 'legendary' potion....

One other thing about FFTA - in order to learn skills/spells, you'll have to equip weopans/equipment with those abilities. After each successful mission, you'll get Ability Points, which will be automatically filled into these equipped skills' gauges. Once you've filled it enough (diff requirement for each skill), you've 'learned' the skill, and can use it w/o equipping weopan/eq with said skill.

Troublesome... but realistic... :undecide:

Ah so you have your pick of classes eh? That's a good thing to bring into the series... ANd the equipment/spell learning sounds like FFIX... I thought that could have been done in a better way so maybe they upped it here.

I did same with Disgaea this weekend. I haven't used Flonne or Etna or any story characters but Laharl. But you did good with Flonne. I made a Good For Nothing Galaxy Mage under my Cleric and a Cleric under my Galaxy Mage so they are the same now offensively and healing but my GM is much more levelled with one trans under her belt.

I kept buying items that cost less than 200 and going to the Assembly to 'Raise Military Funds'... They all Loathe you when you start but after gifting about 500 items, I had a good chunk up to 'Strongly For' which is highest it goes there. I saved and got Cave of Ordeal open... :D The third level there is the best leveling level in the game and it showed in my characters... Laharl at level 284 after transing twice... With no equipment on, he has 12K+ HP, 3K+ ATK... I finally unlocked the last two classes on that level. Tonight I plan on levelling my Majin and Angel to try to get the final tiers for them open. I deleted all my characters I had created to start new ones off in the highest tier... Oy, lotsa work to get them ready to level up... Hey, start building up your Armsmasters... They help you level up weapon skills quicker and you need them so each character can get the 3x3 attacks which will allow them to level up later. Cap on them is 2400. I only have 1300 but it helps immensely.

Prism Rangers... That had me laughing too. Great voice acting I thought.

I haven't levelled any weapons but for residents. Only thing I've levelled are my four Testaments. They raise all stats. I've only gotten them up to level 2-4 each. They start with level 66 and up monsters and by floor four, they are around 120-150... I guess I could do some more now though... Of course, the 'secret characters' have even better equipment than the Testament, and they are all Legendary or so I've read...

Prinny Land and Cave of Ordeals is good to open ASAP. Prinny Land is not too tough, but the Cave took a bit of time gifting.

So what level you on XIII? And what you naming your characters? I take my names from the list of Infernal Names in the Satanic Bible. Quite fitting considering we're demons eh? :goodjob:
