Q - does this mean you'll need to collect 300 Statisticians to get a 300% exp bonus item? (I read max for exp bonus is 300%?)

XIII, do you know the Hospital 'trick'? If you go to claim a prize and back out and go in again, it's stats change. Do it enough and you can get all RARE items out of the hospital.
Do you mean when I see an item available for claiming, I'll cancel out and then go back in again to claim, or claim the item, cancel out and then go back in again?

(I actually bought it twice... Once on Amazon, then saw it at Best Buy so I bought it there Friday night. Amazon's came on Monday. If you look on ebay at the items for sale by floppa21, Disgaea is available at cost with free shipping.  )

Statisticians cap at 300, per character, so if you had two items on Laharl with 300 Stats each for a total of 600, he'd still only benefit from 300 Stats. But if you have 300 Stats, you get the base normal experience PLUS the 300% from Stats for a 400% total... Man oh man... I got level 5-3 open last night. Went in and put my item with 230 Stats on Laharl, had him kill the enemies after combining them and he went from level 21 to level 35. Twice more and I was at level 54. :D I did another Item World run afterwards and got my Stats item up to 296... (You do know you have to subdue them first to move them... They double when subdued, and the cap is for subdued, not unsubdued.)

On the Item Trick at the Hospital, when one is available to claim, look at it. If it is not rare, back out one screen and go into the 'Get Treated' window, then back out and back into 'Claim Item'. Keep doing it and you will notice the Residents and Rarity change each time. Keep going til you get a rare. Usually doesn't take long at all.

I'm with you on the character creation. My created characters are all crap, the second worst level available... BUT, some of hte classes require over 10,000 mana to create at Genius! I'm trying to save up 5,000 mana just to trans at Genius? I don't even have 2,000 yet for any one character... I am gonna try transing tonight at Distinguished (I think? second best level) and see if I lose any skills. I hear later in the game, you end up with more mana than you can spend.

Don't know if you looked at the Residents FAQ over there, but there are residents that enhance stats like HP, SP, ATK, etc. These cap at 19,998 or something ridiculous. There are other residents that prevent or cause status effects also... Manager will give more mana and Broker gives more Hell.

I'm not gonna touch ROTK8 for awhile I think...

I had DL'ed all the available Gamefaq FAQs to read while working (it was less obvious than surfing ;) :) ). Yeah, I'm now quite knowledgeable in Disgaea lore...

This is a long-term game - with the ultimate goal of beating that 'prinny god' at Lvl 6000, who can dish out dmg of 180000 (I think).

IIRC, the second general FAQ was rather well-written. ;)

I'm going to concentrate on the main story characters - and only use the created characters to open up new classes. According to the FAQs, when you transmigrate created characters, they don't get bonuses to base stats (based on lost levels) - their base stats will be what their new class will be. And the mana cost goes up incredibly with each skill I think. :undecide:

First off let me say that you are an avatar whore. :)

You DO get bonus to base stats when you transmigrate ANYONE. Like when you create a Good For Nothing or Incompetent, you have the bonus to distribute? After some levelling, when you trans, the starting base will be higher, but it may not be as noticeable depending on the class you switch to... It is possible to get a Mage with INT transed to say a Ninja, and that Ninja could cast spells it ad learned as a Mage, with better results than a Ninja who had never been a Mage... <phew>

If this wasn't the case, there would be no point in opening the different classes as the story characters are in a fixed class. You should read that thread about transmigration by Jungle Jim. Some is a little out there as far as formulaic crap (you don't need to know chemistry to enjoy your bubble gum) but it is quite useful if you gleam the facts out of the science and code.

I'm thinking of buying the strat guide, but then it probably has no more in it than what is on gameFAQS if not less...

Hey, at least I don't put up public referendums for them. :p

No, what I meant was you don't get bonus for levels lost during transmigration, for created characters - only transferring skills, a little bonus, that's it.

Nooo... Are you sure? That would make it pointless to transmigrate a created character than... It can't be right. People were talking about having a maijin (best class as far as growth and stats) trans a few times and then go to a different class and once leveled up in that new class, tey would be really souped up... I'll look into that again.

Avatar whore... You go through avatars like a trick goes through johns... :p Public referendum? Moi? Never.

Not completely useless, you get to transfer most of your skills, get a little bonus to distribute to your base stats etc.

Just that your base stat will be that of the new class you pick - generally I assume ppl will transmigrate fr a weaker class to a more powerful class - like fr a ronin to a shogun within the same class group. ;)

It'll keep the peons confused, if nothing else. :ack:

'Sides, it was something to do. :p

I'm taking tomorrow off, and heading home to M'sia for 3 serious days of gaming. :yeah: :D

Hey cool, I look forward to the weekend for that myself now that I have this game...

Check this thread if you haven't already, it'll give you the goods on tranmigration. And I did mistake you on what you were saying about created characters. Apparently that bonus to base stats will be huge someday... We'll see...

Fr Friday afternoon till Sunday afternoon, logged about 27 or so hours of gaming time. :yeah: Incredible considering I've even gone out a while a few times, and slept very early on Friday night too...

I've gotten my first statistician up to 300 exactly now. Going to make a few more - since all characters need this eventually. Good thing it can be moved around. :)

I also made a silly mistake of combining a subdued sentry with a non-subdued one in an armor. Must be more careful in future...

My Laharl is level 38 now and I've just finished chapter 5. Yeah that field 5.3 is a good one, for power-levelling. I'll use that next week, extensively.

After playing awhile (entering dozens of items), I'm now pretty comfortable with the game. Utilising lifting and throwing my characters to steal a march or two. :D Have a good grasp for quick battle formations now - I feel more like a seasoned general now.

I'll try to figure out the art of destroying all the Geo pyramids this week. Hehe.

And ronin rocks! Of course I gave her a broadsword, the best belt and bushido armor right at the start. But still rocks. I tried creating a distinguished one - then realized I could never got it passed at my level (yeas minus nays must be more than 2000!).

I'm now so immersed in the game I can hear the soundtrack in the background even now back in S'pore, and keep seeing certain fields on the monitor blinking... I need to break, this whole workweek...

I have also gotten into a **** map once. One large field covering almost the entire map, anchored by a few Geos - incl invincibility and no lifting. I spent an hour or more trying to figure it out - but eventually gave up and rebooted.

And it was even at level 1, of a chainmail.

Tried to lift the invincibility, couldn't. Tried to destroy the no lifting one; couldn't. I had even lured the AI monsters into those few spots unprotected and killed all - including the statistician. But the last one, guarding the dimension gate would leave, and the gate itself was in the field...

I shld have used Mr Gency's Exit, but was too pissed to think of it...

I read only the 1st 2 pages (I'm tired, ok :p) - doesn't seem to agree with what the guys wrote in the FAQs uploaded... The FAQs specifically said for created characters, the base stats won't take in the levels lost, during previous transmigrations.

I certainly hoped this's incorrect - otherwise eventually there'd be a massive difference betw story and non-story characters, after a few transmigrations (I'll probably be playing this for a looong time to come :)).

FYI, the http shld be outside the url tags... ;) Like above.

There's a news item on IGN that Square Enix will be announcing first details about FFXII on 19 Nov. :)

Fun fun fun! I thought of you this weekend when I was playing... :) I transed a few people... Laharl, my Ninja, and my Scout. They did improve but I created them at Genius and transmigrated them at Genius from their first class to like the 4th option in their class so that alone could account for the growth... WHEN I can, (and it'll be a while I think) I think it would be interesting to create a character at the highest ranking of a class, and THEN transmigrate at Genius into the same ranking of same class and see if it works out good or not... Laharl is one class, and I transed him at level 53 (at Genius) and by level 45, he was much more powerful in all stats. I saved and tried at level 73 but some base stats actually dropped so I reloaded. (I'm keeping track of it all on paper)

I only use one statistician at 300... I figure I'll only do one character at a time for leveling, otherwise it happens as I go. Now MANAGERS are important! Start working on 300 of those... They work like statisticians but increase your mana, which is the only way I could get enough to create these new characters at Genius and trans them too. Cap is also 300 on these for 400%.

One hint (no spoilers)... On 5-3, combine all the enemies into one. Keep TWO people out to corner it, one of which will kill it with Stats and Manager equipped. Once combined with only 2 of your characters on the map, throw the monster into your base panel. This will kill all of your characters in there and weaken the monster. When the battle is over, you must revive the dead members. This does not harm you but it adds to your 'Deceased' count at the hospital. GOOD items come out of that stat. Ones that improve ALL stats... Like Imperial Seal but MUCH better. (I hope I didn't already say this in a previous post...) Also you can capture enemies this way. The lower the hit points, the better chance of them being captured.

As for your fun level in Item World, I've seen similar. I imagine it is all randomly generated. You get tiles like '20% Damage, 20% Recovery, -50% ATK, +50% ATK'... :crazyeye: If you create a Scout, they have a skill called 'GeoChange' which would have worked on that level you spoke of. This will change tile colors, Geo Symbols etc... Often times, it just deletes it all. I just made mine pretty much for this purpose, doing 5 levels in an Item and then no way out sucks. I don't seem to use my Gency Exits very smartly. I have about 35 of them.

If you didn't know, throwing a Geo Symbol on an enemy destroys the Symbol...

On the Dark Assembly, use the reroll trick like at the Hospital to raise your 'Influence'... The higher it is the better your odds. And don't be shy giving those extra items away to raise the relationships. I'm on level 10-1 right now, and items now come with 50 Gladiateors and 40 Sentrys instead of the 10's and 12's they used to. I was stockpiling and gifting based on Residents I could get in item world, but every time you do that through to level 10, you come back with 10 more items... :crazyeye:

I went into one item and I was stealing better equipment from them than I could buy, and this after about 5 'More Expensive Equipment' bills... The enemies on level 1 were in the Level 38 range. Thankfully I used a Gency exit in there twice, once at level 5 to replenish, once at level 8 just in case... The Item General on level 10 had a Defense of 25-- and was level 98... I managed one attack that did damage to him. All the rest were zeros. So that item is on hold now. :p

I like this game more and more. One chapter had me laughing and I had to quit out once the battle started so I could go through it one more time. :goodjob:

FF11 and FFX2next month, FF12 next year, and DW8 in the works!

I'm interested in FF12. FFX2, I don't know about. Could be good, as I did like FFX... DW7 disappointed me, runnning around for 4 hours without a single battle. FF11 I have no interest in.

Sharks, you must be at a darn high level to be able to create new genius characters so easily... I thought you'll need to get it passed at the Dark Assembly, by a high margin.

What's DW? The only DW I know is Dynasty Warrior... :crazyeye:

God Bless! I'ma try to get an avatar-change-limit implemented. What happened to the Love Freak? :)

Well, only a few have transed so far since I will only do it at Genius. As for creating them, level 9-1 has 9 level 30 monsters in a 3x3 square. Some attacks are 3x3. Only Laharl has one of these, so I equip him with strength items (one of which has 300 Managers) and kill them all in one attack. A little over 1000 mana per fight, each fight taking about 20 seconds. I have to stop after the 11th to replenish my SP, but it works for creating the characters I want. As for the others, running through item world collecting residents with my Managers equipped... It takes a while though. My ninja went quick because of his dodge and counter ability. Quick work clearing levels with him.

And remember to reroll so your influence goes up no matter what. Assembly is a cakewalk now except for opening the 'bonus worlds'... They suddenly all loathe me when it comes to that.

DW, you're right... I meant Dragon Warrior... It'll sell a lot of copies in Japan at least. ;)

Now that I've thought about it a bit, I think the improved base stats came about 'cause of the new 'class' you picked, rather than fr transmigration lost levels. We'll see...

You can try checking the base stats for your transmigrated created char against what the base stats would be, if you're to create that char fr scratch, at genius level...

Also, I've read that with each successive genius transmigration, the mana cost for created characters actually goes up quickly. :(

Too small...

I tried to shrink the one fr the wallpaper at the Althus site, but it became blurry...

In any case, having a cutey avatar might not be a good addition to my mod image... :hmm:

Well, I'm way below you then - my Laharl only ay 38, with a assembly rank of 4... Difficult to do anything much... :undecide:

But that will change soon.
