RUSSIA*: Expands north and south.
BENGAL: Expands north and south, is attacked in the west by Persia. See special section below on Bengali-Persian War.

*: Denotes NPC.

Pirates 2: Curse of the West
Piracy continued this century even as Floridian pirates stopped harassing Tartessos. Rather, Floridian activities expanded north as they began harassing the recently recovering Channel Union trade, stymying their abilities to expand their trade operations.

In the west Mediterranean, Carthage was finally ended following a long and brutal century when Carthaginian operations attempted to move to Sicilia. However, both Milan and Tartessian sailors, already bound for Sicilia, managed to warn the main fleet which smashed against the unprepared Carthaginian escape fleet. The Carthaginian galleys were utterly routed during the surprise attack, and once again Carthage's navy was sent to the bottom.

A final assault was then staged against Sardinia as for the second time Tartessians landed in Sardinia. Following a bout of brutal guerilla warfare, the Carthaginian armies were eventually crushed by their better-trained, more advanced, and more numerous opponents. In this attack, the main Carthaginian stronghold was seized, and Carthaginian solidarity shattered. Although there are few alcoves across the Mediterranean still, spies bought out by the Kingdom of Milan have ratted out over 70% of these. Truly the age of Carthage has come to an end, just as the age of the economic behemoth of Tartessos is beginning. (-existence for Carthage, -1 bronze army, -1 bronze fleet for Tartessos, -1 stone fleet for Milan)

Mideast Crisis
Tensions between once friendly Hellenic Republic and Abalonia rose to a high this year as Abalonia surprise-attacked the Hellenic colonies of Suez and Puntland, capturing both rather quickly. The Abalonian fleet then defended against Hellenic feelers sent to scope the situation, and although no major fighting has broken out between the two nations the future looks grim.

As Abalonia was occupied in the west, however, Persia attacked in the east, fulfilling their "manifest destiny" and their "war on civilization." Persia took a large amount of land in the east and stands poised to threaten the crescent itself, even though no major casualties were sustained on either side.

Great American War
Tensions in America exploded this century as the Three Kings attacked California in the largest military clash thus far in history.

On the Sioux front, Massachusetts and Chicago soldiers spilled over the border to assault the Californian garrison. Overwhelming eastern numbers smashed against the Californian forces, and highly trained Massachusettians only added to the carnage as the entire eastern half of California fell. Salt Lake City was then taken in a further foray by a daring Bison archer, effectively halving Californian industrial capacity.

In the south, an intense battle took place between some of North America's most elite corps. Massachusetts armies and Floridian gator shock troops joined forces to assault the massive Californian guard. Large numbers helped the east for after weeks of battle the Three Kings were ultimately victorious, destroying the defenders south of Irvine. Quickly the Floridians razed the capitol in an effort to further cripple California. California, nearly defenseless, may be done for next century. (-7 marquis, -5 iron for California, -1 iron for Chicago, -2 iron for Massachusetts, -4 iron for Florida)

Bengali-Persian War
The newly erected state of Persia, proclaiming manifest destiny and war on civilization, attacked Bengal head-on in its west quarters with a massive army led by their god-king known only as Xerxes. Persia quickly seized quite a swath of land and annihilated a lone tiger cavalry in Turkestan, placing a huge bulk of an army right on Bengal's doorstep. Quickly Bengal rallied what it could to defend, but it is unknown whether it will be enough to stop the Persian onslaught. (-1 tiger cavalry for Bengal)

RANDOM EVENT: End of economic boom in Wu? Not su, says famed modern historian and columnist for the Wu York Times! Evidence abounds that in 2100 BC, much more progress was made on their new Academy than originally anticipated! (+5 production for wonder)

UPDATE IN 48 HOURS

I've decided to update every other day on weekdays. The final (and unchanging from here on out) update schedule is:

SUNDAY-TUESDAY-THURSDAY-SATURDAY

@sp: It's going great, thanks for asking.

Aw, Carthage is done... I'll pick a new country tomorrow. Thanks everyone in the Mediterranean for a very fun time!

Diplomacy:

From Jasiran
To Empire of the Rising Sun

If you allow us to keep our current territories, we promise to leave you the rest of Indonesia.

Stories:

The Southern Frontier
Presidents of Jasiran had traditionally had a hard time controlling the nomadic lands that made up a large percentage of their empire. The traditional system used a combination of strong infrastructure, ideological loyalty (the alternative to being loyal to the President was being a rebel and a traitor), and loose control. The line blurred often between highly autonomous part of the Empire and member of the pro-Jasiran alliance of tribes.

During President British's expansion southward, however, this became even more of a problem. Cases were documented of soldiers settling down and granting themselves various titles over the land, deserting their posts, and getting away with it. Even commanders did it, hoping to found dynasties of their own.

This was not realised during British's time as President, but his son President France decided that enough was enough.

(To be continued- possibly...)

From The Rising Sun
To Jasiran

We will allow this if you allow us to settle a portion of Australia, as well as provide the Empire treaty ports

From The Empire of the Rising Sun
To The World

As it is noticed, our Empire is growing. We are wealthy, and we connect the world. We bring Chinese goods to Egypt, and Egyptian goods to China. And all nations prosper from this. In order to create more trade for your nation, The Empire of the Rising Sun requests a treaty port. In exchange, your nation will receive benefits in Imperial Trade, and will be able to acquire goods at discounted prices. We await your responses

From The Rising Sun
To Jasiran

We will allow this if you allow us to settle a portion of Australia, as well as provide the Empire treaty ports

Agreed, as long as the treaty ports do not include any major cities.

Claiming Persia knowing that I will die next Century.

Agreed, as long as the treaty ports do not include any major cities.

Very well. We shall claim the city south west to your capital, as well as a large portion of remaining Australia

Taking Arabia. Crezth, could I get some stats so I can send orders for the coming turn?

Very well. We shall claim the city south west to your capital, as well as a large portion of remaining Australia

OOC: I meant cities too small to fit on the map.

That counts as a major city.

OOC: I meant cities too small to fit on the map.

That counts as a major city.

Then that wouldn't be a treaty port :p

The point of this is to allow Imperial merchants access to your markets, which will help you in the long run

@Crezth: I said the city of Corunia, not an area of nearly 7,000 square kilometres! And what about my plans to colonize several islands? And about the farms?
@Flavius: you still have to pay me 3 gold, I know that you used everything on your economy.
@EQ: I hope that you will give back the parts of the Campustella region that have been illegally given to you.
@Stormbringer: nice to have met you! Hope we will meet again soon!

From: Tartessos
To: Members of the Euro-Mediterranean Alliance

My friends! The time has come to start with our projects to finally advance into the next age! With 3,000 pieces of gold (3 gold) from each of you, we will finally get the knowledge of working with Iron and our armies will be more powerful than ever!

From: Tartessos
To: The Empire of the Rising Sun

I fear that all of my nations' ports are vital for our economy, and we have already given the port of Corunia to Florida. However, you may trade freely with us through the port in Oporto, in the province of Oportia.

OOC: HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I am the economic POWERHOUSE of the world!!!
OOC2: HTF did Persia start with 10 armies, 4 Immortals and 2 Fleets already????
OOC3: The Euro-Mediterranean Alliance is missing from the list!

Then that wouldn't be a treaty port :p

The point of this is to allow Imperial merchants access to your markets, which will help you in the long run

O.K then. Assuming you do not use any major cities, do we have a deal?
