Crusader Kings 2

I've been playing the save for about 20 years. I have one son, and he was genned at start. Only grandson is dead (and was breton to boot).

Things will get interesting when I die.

So how is that mod?

Yeah that mod looks like it could be an interesting game or two, but calling it version 0.1.1 suggested to me that it was far from ready for prime-time right now; am I mistaken about that?

It's playable, fun, and has the right atmosphere, but it isn't close to done yet, and you can only play in the second age.

The point of releasing a beta version of the game is generally to use the players as public beta testers. I'm not even sure that EK is really out of alpha yet, but Korba and crew have been working on it since last summer and it's really a lot more fun when other people can try out their handiwork. :)

Plus it makes waiting for the complete version a whole lot more bearable.

Hey
I started this game with Aragon. Now I'm in 1127 and I pressed a claim. After that i had a rebellion and another war and kinda broke. So I surrendered to those guys I attacked first and the tooltip was clearly saying that I will lose prestige and around 325 gold. Now the war ended , I have 500 more gold (my army is still raised).

Is this a bug?

Did one of your courtiers with no family die recently?

Got bored with my Britannia game with about 20 years left. Emperor of Britannia, King of Ireland, France, and Denmark, with England, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, the Pope, and large part of Germany under my vassalage.

So then I decided to give that Norman Challenge thing a go. Started as that de Bailleul guy in Charisanon. Not really sure what the big deal is...

What's "that Norman challenge thing"? I don't think I've heard of that.

Norman challenge - from the 1071 start, start as one of the three Norman culture rulers around the ERE area and become ruler of ERE without changing culture. It was discussed in this thread a couple weeks ago, and on reddit. It's not actually that big a challenge if you can make it out the gate, but you start out small and highly unpopular with your neighbors - making a game-opening war of doom very possible.

Do you mean the 1081 Alexiad bookmark? I haven't played vanilla in ages and don't recall a 1071 bookmark either!

No, I mean 1071. It's not a bookmark, you have to use the little arrows on top to adjust the starting year yourself to 1071.

From my experience, the Byzantines basically ignored me, and while the neighbouring emir launched a holy war against me near the start, I had a really good defensive position and was able to defeat him quite easily despite being outnumbered. After that the Seljuks basically collapsed into constant civil war allowing me to pick off territory wherever I felt like. I also lucked out a little bit when it came to getting Jerusalem, as the neighbouring sultan attacked me, allowing me to hire both available holy orders for free. So when the crusade for Jerusalem started not long after, I just sent them to crusade for me and won the crown quite easily. I probably still would have won it without them however, as I had quite a lot of money to hire mercenaries with, as I was expecting the crusade to occur at some point in the near future and wanted to win it.

Short term goal is to conquer Syria to unite my lands. Long term of course is to head west and claim Byzantium.

Be warned that conquests cost 50 piety, which, as you probably noticed, is insanely high for this mod. You should edit it to cost either prestige or wealth, prestige, and piety (but still mostly prestige).
