Crusader Kings 2

That does sound quite fun. Duergar, svirfneblin, drow and goblin rulers, with illithids, aboleth and neogi hovering around the edges. :p

I would seriously actually buy that, and I didn't (and won't) buy Sunset Invasion.

I'm really surprised how many in that thread said the same thing. Probably because the joke DLC actually has some interesting ideas and mechanics.

Well, my problem with the Aztec one wasn't really implausibility for my part, but how basic the idea was: yay! another invasion so no matter where I play I risk being wiped off the map by 1300!

Seriously, the fact that in every game I've played that has approached the endgame the Mongols have made it to AT LEAST Sweden if not all the way through Germany and England is enough. We don't need the effing Aztecs to mess up the map any more that it already is.

But losing is fun!

Also I have managed to win England (and Scotland) as Pisa from the Aztecs thank to Papal Crusades. Granted it was mainly aided by the mobility and money power that the Republics has... well in second thoughts your greatest chance is to be a republic, a large empire or in some safe spot. Enjoy the challange and remember that with the Pagen DLC you might be able as the Aztecs to conquer Rome and install a alter there.

What if the Mongols were removed though? Could be intteresting.

And Mithril Hall, just because. :p

[shamelessselfpromotion]I'm blogging about CK2! (and Paradox in general, but you know...) Go over and have a look if you're interested, i just thought this was a good place to announce it and all. Also, paradoxplaza won't let me link to it like CFC does so yeah. :D[/shamelessselfpromotion]

Anyone got any requests?

Quick question, has anyone played as Isle of Man? I did, great game and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar is also great fun. (Independent count of Valencia)

Isle of Man is good fun. I tried playing as them once, IIRC I got obliterated, but I quite liked it before that happened.

How did you get obliterated? I built up Isle of Man, and used mercs to take over Ulster (using a fab. claim). My son was a member of the Isles, and had two counties, so I was no longer independent by that stage. After that, I helped the isles against Scotland, took some more of Ireland, declared independence, won, beat the Isles and Scotland into a pulp, and then became King of Scotland, Ireland and Wales over time, and took over Brittany and owned Gelre for some reason. Everything slotted into place for me that game it seemed.

Bad luck, I guess. After getting absorbed by the Isles it was only a matter of time before Scotland absorbed them, and my liege took the island, IIRC. I didn't have time to take any of Ireland. A lot of it depends on how strong Scotland is early game.

True. I might try my hand at it again. Scotland got beaten by the Isles early with my help, and they didn't have a strong King, as Lothian split from Scotland before the war.

What I found very interesting was a count under William the Bastard, (Robert, far left territory of Normandy), I married my sons off to William of Eu's daughter, and another Normandy count's daughter, then William won in England as he does. However, Eu (the really tiny province) declared independence. They also managed to capture William the Conqueror who died in an Eu prison (lol). By that stage, I had been given the Duchy of Normandy and County of Rouen, so I had a bit of power. Northumbria and Lancaster declared independence and Duke Harold of Bedford (Godwinson) fought and won a war to become King of England, deposing William II. So now, I own all of Normandy, Harold Godwinson is still King of England, Northumbria and Lancaster are independant, and William's reign over England was extremely short lived.

Has anyone ever found themselves in the peculiar position where your son or grandson is your liege and you are subordinate to them?

Once I was the Duke of Flanders and my son was the King of Aquitaine. That was weird.

Yeah, I lost the civil war :(

What is A Game of Thrones without some incest?
