CTD and Reboots fixed by 1.09?

I have an AMD 2800, 1 Gig Ram and a Radeon 9600XT. The patch fixed the wonder videos for me, before they would start a scrambled up mess, then play semi correctly, but with the sound stuttering. After the patch no problems there. It also allowed me to load up a couple saved games that previously would cause a reboot if I tried to open them.

However, I'm getting system reboots more often now and earlier in the game. I used to be able to get far into a game on a small map, now I tend to get my reboots early in the second age. So, for critical errors it's a lot wrose.

I also had a Civ 4 caused reboot fry my power supply. It was a PoS Compaq factory standard PS, I'm hoping the new Antec 400 W SmartPower will take any such trauma a lot better, but I'm not sure I want to risk another powersupply to play.

The only problems I've ever had (both pre and post patch) are frequent CTD's as the game gets to the middle stages. The only difference that I can see with the new patch is now civ4 will tell me "failed to allocate memory" when I crash instead of just crashing.

P4 3.4ghz
1gig ram
xfx6600gt

Now i get BSOD infinite loop when i try to exit the game!
Not going to play this any more.
Cant be good for the system.

The patch seems to have slightly improved the game speed, and reduced slowdowns *somewhat*, but no the frequency of reboots for me is the same.

Yep, I agree. I have stopped playing as well. I just bought the new video card and I don't want the PSU to fry it with the constant hard reboots (this happened to me in the past - and while it is rare... my luck is just not there these days  )

Kinda reminds me of a game release a few years back -- "Pool of [cough] 2" wont say the rest.

After installing 1.09 all seems well so far. I've not had a CTD since installing the patch, save games load faster and scrolling around the map seems smoother. I have a ATI Radeon X300 PCI Expess card, 2.8GHZ Intel CPU with 1Gig Ram.

I have an nVidia 5700 ve, and I was getting a lot of CTD errors in the late game. I installed the patch, and the CTD were just as common, but would cause my video drivers to unload on a CTD. Rolling back from 81.95 to 81.85 seems to have helped a lot, so if you run an nVidia card, and had upgraded your video drivers, I highly suggest going back to an old version, because it seems like 95 doesn't like civ4.

For me patch 1.09 sped up game performance but made Civ4 crash every 15 turns. With crashing it completely unloads all my NVIDIA(81.85) drivers....so I get a 800x600 resolution with 256 colors which I cant change  then I need to reboot....to restore my original settings....well I guess its waiting till next patch comes out hopefully real soon.........
Does anyone know if the omega drives help...(i read it somewhere on a forum that they solved the crashing problemsss....)?

My specs:
CPU Intel Celeron 2.4GHz
Ram 768 DDR at 333MHz
Video BFG geforce FX 5500 OC with 256 MB ram

Sorry I got another CDT at the end of 1st turn of a loaded game.
So have to say the CDT has not been fixed

It seems fixed my radeon 9800SE. I played 3 hours without CDT. it's great for me.

The patch fixed nothing... I have crashes and freezings every 10 minutes, so I can only reboot my system... MSI RX800SE, 512 MB RAM, AMD Athlon 1800+, Asus A7V333 Mainboard
