CTIV-3: Tokugawa by Sea

Forgot about her UU. If she has that, then i change my vote until we have something that can better deal with it.

Just looked at the save, and she doesn't have gunpowder which is a pre-requisite to rifling which is needed for her UU. So there is still a window, but I don't think we have time to build the military before she can be producing her UU (Redcoat).

My next thought was the Roman empire, but looking at relations with everyone, this will hurt our relations with alot as he seems to be quite popular.

Cyrus might be a good option.. to the West. And he is much smaller, less advanced, so it won't take as much to take him.

Ok.. I have to vote on something, so I choose Cyrus.

Yeah, I uh meant Redcoat

Remember, the "must conquer" requirement has been removed from this game; there's no need to immediately take out anyone. Not saying we shouldn't, but don't feel obligated to.

EDIT: That being said, I wonder how hard it would be to take out Cyrus, HC, and Hattie in one wave of violence ...

Ok.. this is a got it.

We now have a direction from our esteemed leader.. :D

I shall start building us towards a western push.

Take 'em all down...

No seriously though, if we fail, its not like they'll be making that big of a counterattack... As long as we have a decent navy...

After playing my turns, we are going to have enough work to take on one at a time until we can get ships that travel alot further on each turn. Cyrus is so far away..

Finished my turns.. posting shortly. Very little happening, just building towards future wars.

Ok. Tasks for this term.
- Modernise army
- Upgrade infrastructure
- Start leaning towards Cyrus

Turn 0 (1660AD)
- Lots of infrastructure being built.. will mostly finish after 10 shots. I think this 10 will not be very exciting.
- Renegotiated a few contracts for more money.

Everything looks in order. [Enter]

Turn 1 (1662AD)
Tadmekka -> Lighthouse
Workers working..

Turn 2 (1664AD)
Nothing to report. Workers working.

IBT: Hatty gets Liberalism

Turn 3 (1666AD)
Exploring. Workers working.

Turn 4 (1668AD)
Boy.. I need something else to do.. I start heading a boat over towards Cyrus to see what he's up to.

Turn 5 (1670AD)
Novgorod: Bank -> Cannon
More workers working.

Turn 6 (1672AD)
Rostov: Drydock -> Frigate (need to make use of the drydock :) )

Turn 7 (1674AD)
It seems a religion is spreading each shot with no work.. shame we don't have any of the holy cities.
Upgraded a few of our highly promoted Samurai to grenadiers and try to start moving a few things west.

Turn 8 (1676AD)
Kyoto: Bank -> Grenadier
Nagoya: Harbor -> Grenadier
Running out of things to do with workers. Need to send them to the islands that need them.

Turn 9 (1678AD)
Novograd: Cannon -> Grenadier

Finally reach Cyrus with a galleon. Boy it's a long way!

Turn 10 (1680AD)
Cyrus only has longbowmen and a few macemen. Looks like a good target for our army.

Ok we have lots of money. (1113 @ +155gpt) What are our plans there. We don't have Uni Suff so we can only really spend it on research or upgrades at this point.

Steam power in 1. I recommend we head towards rifling and then assembly line to get infantry which will give us a nice upgrade path and some pretty powerful guys to hit our next target with.

Only one pic.. one of Cyrus's armies.

Here's the save.. http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/CTIV-3_AD-1680.Civ4SavedGame

I got it

(by the way, the rule for a Grab It is that 10 turns must occur before you can go again)

Turn 0 -- 1680 AD

Demos are looking good, we're 1st in all categories except Imports/Exports, where we're a respectable 2nd.

Look at the relations, and I think we could win Diplo vs any right now.

I would like to get Free Markets. But I agree that Steam > Rifles > Assembly may be more beneficial to the war effort.

I do upgrade our Catapult to Cannon. Kinda useless in Nagoya, so I send a Galleon to pick him up.

Turn 1 -- 1682 AD

Steam Power > Rifling. I decide to use our cash reserves to get it for us faster. Science to 80% at -19gpt, Rifling in 7.

Coal is available and online.

Persia sure has a lot of troops in its cities.

Turn 2 -- 1684 AD

Alex wants us to cancel trades with Cyrus, I do so.

Hattie wants us to trade Replaceable Parts for Education + 80gold. I do so. She has Liberalism already. A couple others have economics.

Kyoto: Grenadier > University
St. Petersburg: Forbidden Palace (+29gpt as a result) > Grenadier
Djenne: Theatre > Barracks

Look at the diplo status, I think we should do everything possible to keep JC, Alex, and GW on our side.

Turn 3 -- 1686 AD

Rostov: Frigate > Ironclad
Novgorod: Grenadier > Library
Yakutsk: Forge > Drydock

Christianity has spread in St. Petersburg.

Turn 4 -- 1688 AD

Vladivostok: Library > Barracks
Djenne: Barracks > Forge

Turn 5 -- 1690 AD

Osaka: Bank > Grenadier

Cyrus has completed Versailles. HE HAS THREE FREAKIN' CITIES :crazyeye:

Ok, I'm only going to have a chance to play 5 this time. I think we have the game under control and can do whatever we want to win...diplo would be nice but not required. Rifling in 3. I think we should get Liberalism and trade for Economics (or somehow trade for both), going to the three Frees (Market, Speech, and Religion) would be great for our Civ.

Here's the Save:

Awlil begins: Lighthouse

I spent five ho-hum turns building up infrastructure. We get liberlism in one turn...then on to economics. Right now no one will trade with us. I think we should go all out on research and beeline to Mass Media.

The save: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/CTIV-3_AD-1700.Civ4SavedGame

I think we need to improve some relations between now and Mass Media. Yes, I was thinking about a diplomatic win.

JC, Alex and GW are all pleased with us. I think if we keep them pleased, we can get a diplo win. Beeline to Mass Media + keeping them happy might be the quickest way to go...

Let's See:
Liberalism due in 1.
Economics would take 4 (might be able to trade Liberalism for it, though)
Scientific Method in 6
Physics in 13
Electricity in 15
Radio in 19 (get Eiffel Tower!)
Mass Media in 12

In terms of Diplomatic, Elizabeth would be an ideal opponent because a lot of people don't like her

Diplomatic sounds like a good way to go.

How would our relations be affected by warring with Cyrus? It may not be worth it at all as we are already no 1 in most areas and could just concentrate on research to get to mass media as soon as possible.

oldbustedjorn and Kikinit the game is available for one of you to grab at this point.
