CTIV-5: Peacenik Re-education Camp

Hey gang,

I'm wiped from the systems upgrade I did this weekend (and the cleanup I did today). If anyone (except Pling) can grab it tonight, please do, otherwise I'll pick it up tomorrow night.

Sorry for the delay.

Ok, I have it. Will play 10 and post tonight. v1.52?

Report: I spent most of the time removing the investations from our continent. I have left one french city for the next player ...

warsc0387vt.jpg

I've also built up the units in Stack 1 and have been building boats to transport these guys. We should see if we can get some transports as they are actually pretty strong little boats. I also had our workers out chopping down trees that are not in any city squares, turning them into hammers for our cities. Best to complete this under v1.52 because v1.61 reduces this 'benefit'.

Here is the turn log ...
Spoiler turnlog :
sorry - no turn log - it must have been eaten by something - I really thought I had one ...

Nice work!

You know, it's actually not going to require many ships. We should put a city up here pronto:

I have it, but I am going to have to patch immediately after playing this round as I am currently up in another SG that requires 1.61. I guess that means this will be my last contribution to this game (and I will presumably be out of CTIV-7 too...) :(

I can't see the point in keeping this when there is clearly another coastal city to the west. It will just be too much of a money pit.

Isn't it enough that we have to put up with the antics of Toku and Nappy? On the plus side, at least we have now finally destroyed all French and Japanese outposts on our continent.

Best of luck with the rest of the game. I'll be lurking in case it gets patched later.

Save

Good job robbing the continent of the scum! Ok, looks like I'm up. I'll try to play tonight.

I need to do an emergency Out of Pocket

Any game that I'm in that wants to upgrade to 1.61 can do so, I'll patch up when I return (hopefully Monday, maybe not until Friday next week)

ChrTh said:
Pling, do you want to swap?

I was away then (pretty sure I said, earlier, that I'd not be back till today :) ) ... but I'm back now & I've grabbed the save but I'll not play till tomorrow at the earliest as I've been sat in the car all day today & my brain is fried.

I'll not patch till after I've played, though.

Turn 0 (1960AD):
Little bit of MM on a couple of cities to stagnate some that were unhappy & make others grow that could.
Looking for Naval transportation units - we seem to have lots of Frigates which can't carry troops, and only 3 Galleons ... The Frigates we'll have will come in handy for protecting our flotillas & harrassing the cities, but we need more Galleons (cargo space = 3, so we can get 9 troops at a time over, we've more troops than that hanging about near Beshbalik). I'll switch out build orders for Frigates to Galleons and try and get some out at Old Sarai with the plan being a two pronged attack on the continent from Beshbalik and from Old Sarai. I'll get the Beshbalik attack started rather than wait for flotilla 2, as we've only 90 turns left & two (big & strong) civs to dispose of.

Load 3 cannon, 5 Grenadiers & a Musketman into our 3 Galleons, hook up with a spare frigate & move out attacking an enemy Frigate. Our protection is a little wounded now, so I've whipped another Frigate for escort (it was only 4 turns away) and we'll be off next turn.

Turn 1 (1961AD):
Beshbalik: Frigate (escort for Galleons) -> Rifleman
Turfan: Cavalry (off to investigate NE barb city) -> Rifleman
Berlin: Grenadier (to Old Sarai) -> Cannon
Mycenae: Frigate (off to harass the Japs) -> Galleon (hadn't been worth cancelling that Frigate)
Tenochtitlan: Cannon (to Old Sarai) -> Cavalry
Alemanni: Courthouse -> Forge
Toulouse: -> Courthouse

We've had a Great Scientist born & have a Great Merchant kicking about - so I start a Golden Age.

Belatedly change my mind about where the 2nd prong will come from - there's already a monster stack in Toulouse, so I'll send Galleons to there and other troops to there and we can go across to the Japs easily from there:

toulouse.jpg

Turn 2 (1962AD):
Ning-hsia: Rifleman (to Beshbalik) -> Cavalry

Divert troops from Old Sarai to Toulouse as I can.

Turn 3 (1963AD):
Constitution discovered.
Start to research Scientific Method - my thoughts are that we need to find oil first, then aim for Transports & Destroyers, which need the oil.

Zion: Grenadier (to Beshbalik) -> Rifleman
Shanghai: Grocer -> Cavalry
Vandal: Grenadier (to Toulouse) -> Cannon

Turn 4 (1964AD):
Ning-hsia: Cavalry (to Toulouse) -> Cavalry
Mycenae: Galleon (to Toulouse) -> Galleon
Teotihucan: Rifleman (to Toulouse) -> Cannon

Toku has Destroyers already.

tokudestroyer.jpg

Turn 5 (1965AD):
Turfan: Rifleman (to Toulouse) -> Cavalry
Berlin: Cannon (to Toulouse) -> Cavalry
Tenoch: Cavalry (to Toulouse) -> Rifleman

I'm stopping here as I've spent roughly an hour playing. Should we all go down to 5 turns a piece now or is everyone else still ok with 10?

Here's the start of the attack on the Japanese:

izumo.jpg

As you can see I think we'll just be gnats biting at them, but hey! Gnats are irritating ;) And getting him/them to concentrate on dealing with us on their continent rather than coming across to ours would be a Good Thing. My suggestion is to land the 9 units on the hill south of the Jap city & send the ships back to Beshbalik for another batch. THere's plenty waiting:

beshstack.jpg

And this is the current stack at Toulouse, waiting for ships:

toulousestack.jpg

I've no idea who's next incidentally :(

5 turns is ok at this point ... if you feel like doing 10, I ain't going to stop you ;)

Ruff Hi is up, Scowler on deck. Ruff Hi, if you want to bring it up to 1.61 you can, otherwise Scowler can do so.

Ok - I have it. I only have v1.61 installed (reimaged PC) and I am trying a cobbled together mod pack. I guess that this game is as good as any to see how my mod pack goes :D.

Trust me - I'm a Doctor ... here, have a lolly pop.

Sigh - not only did my pc get re-imaged, they also gave me a new frame (swapped hard drives and memory). The problem is that they kept the CD in the CD Rom drive (guess which one it was). So, no CIV4 for me tonight, no SGs, no hacking python, no posting my cobbled together mod and showing what a hero I am. Guess I will take the dogs for a walk, get them dinner and watch StarGate.

So - anyone - feel free to grab the latest save because I will not get to it for at least 24 hrs.

Edit: Too late, I have it.
