CTR1 -- Jump Without Looking (the Deity Virgin Sacrifice)

0 - 1375 AD
I switch some cities on the mainland to settlers so that we can quickly fill in the empty territory.
I rush some temples for the same reason.
Here is the army in 1375 AD
ctr1_army_1375AD.jpg

1 - 1380 AD
We discover flight and turn off research.
Found Yokohama
Found Shimonoseki
I was wondering why we haven't upgraded the galleons to transports. We do not have the cash yet.
I sign an MPP with England. If Persia decides to attack us, at least we will have England on our side.

2 - 1385 AD
We finish our first airport
Found Matsuyama
Found Sapporo
Found Hakodate
Found Ise
Found Toyama
Found Fukushima
Found Suo

IBT Persepolis finishes SETI

3 - 1390 AD
Found Bizen

4 - 1395 AD
We complete the Heroic Epic

IBT The coal deal runs out with Persia. Although Persia lacks coal, he does not want to renew it.

5 - 1400 AD
Washington riots.
Found Echizen

Here is the army of 1400 AD. Notice that England's size is average to us.
ctr1_army_1400AD.jpg

This was a boring set of turns. Lots of worker and troop movements. All of our offensive troops except for two cavalry are on the southern continent.

I think we should leave the research off for now. We need the cash to rush a couple more temples, some hospitals, and maybe some factories.

Considering the fact that we need to maximize our population, I think cities that are close to size 12 should build hospitals before tanks. We need our population to be double Persia's in the end. Our cities building tanks should be MM to produce 100 spt, 50 spt, 34 spt, or 25 spt.

Normally I like to have lots of workers, but England has already built lots of railroads and we may not need as many workers following our troops.

An airport will finish on the Southern continent next turn and we can begin to airlift troops. We have two cavalry ready to be airlifted over. I built lots of airports on the homeland. After the cities currently building airports finish, we should have enough to be able to airlift all of the reinforcements we produce each turn. I do not think we need to upgrade the remaining Galleons.

I think England only has two sources of oil. The first one we can take out on the first turn of the war. The second oil is under Brighton and we should be able to take it out fairly early in the war.

Here is the SAVE

I'll run MapStat later this afternoon, but I think we are doing much better territory wise.

Here is some data from MapStat for 1375 AD
Tiles req’d for domination: 1627 (66.7%)
Japan: 931 acquired tiles (38.2%) - 696 to limit (28.5%)
Persia: 628 acquired tiles (26%)
England: 562 acquired tiles (23%)
Unclaimed: 318 acquired tiles (13%)

Total pop: 1355
Pop req’d for domination: 904 (66.7%)
Japan: 521 acquired pop (38.5%) - 383 to limit (23.3%)
Persia: 510 acquired pop (38%)
England: 324 acquired pop (24%)

Here is some data from MapStat for 1400 AD
Tiles req’d for domination: 1627 (66.7%)
Japan: 1092 acquired tiles (44%) - 535 to limit (21%)
Persia: 617 acquired tiles (25%)
England: 570 acquired tiles (23%)
Unclaimed: 160 acquired tiles (6%)

Total pop: 1396

Japan: 532 acquired pop (38%) - 399 to limit (28%)
Persia: 525 acquired pop (37%)
England: 339 acquired pop (24%)

Hrmmm...conquering England would give us the Tiles ... as for the Pop ... since we have (many) more cities, we should be able to grow them at a much faster rate than Persia's behemoths ... so it'll come, the question is, will it be in time?

umm .. MPP with England ? Are we not thinking of attacking in the next 20 ?

Hopefully they'll attack us. Moving our troops to the English continent leaves us wide open. The MPP was necessary.
Do we have an MPP with both countries now?

We should get a whole bunch of workers irrigating everything outside our core. All the shields are corrupt anyway. Irrigate everything, buy a market if they get unhappy. I'll be a milker yet ;)

I looked at the save... I'm impressed, great job Earp. There's a lot of workers already and the new cities grow fast even while producing workers. The powergraph has a very nice shape.

Are we ready to start planting spies in England? My experience is that you normally need several tries when the target is a powerful democracy.

edit: I particularly like the agressive settling! :goodjob:

Yes, we have MPPs with both countries.

I was thinking the same as mad-bax. Persia has lots of excess troops on our continent and moving all of our troops to England's continent leaves us in a vulnerable position.

I think we should get England to declare war on us sooner rather than later. I think we may have to start the war in about ten turns. I do not think we can afford to wait much longer than that.

We may have to shield the English city on our continent if we want to prevent Persia from taking it.

I wonder if we should gift a city on the Southern continent to Persia. Do you all think they might get more involved in the war then and slow their progress towards Space?

Mmmm, that's a toughy. I think we certainly could buy us some time that way, but we can't time the gifting very well because we don't know how long it takes before England gets fed up with our spying.

Gifting leaves the city empty and an easy target for England. If they capture the city Persia will put a lot into trying to get it back. If the city is defended well England will target one of ours. We need to have Persian troops bear the brunt of Englands attacks and rush in when England's gassed. They will have planes by now, so we should be prepared for bombings. Luckily Persia's near so they'll hopefully will be bombed too...

Turn 0 -- 1400AD

Builder turns it shall be ...

I fire a couple entertainers and replace them with 1 scientist (40 turns, why not?) and taxmen. Memphis is about to riot, hire a taxman.

Since we're going to have plenty of airports on the homeland, I move the galleons/transports to the southern continent. That way, if there is an attack on the home continent, we can just load up the troops and bring them across.

IT: Susa completes the Manhattan Project :nuke:

Turn 1 -- 1405AD

I hurry an Airport in Salamanca (for 36 gold), because I don't like how close to the future warzone Akwesasne is. If it were to fall to the British, we would lose our only airport on the island.

Turn 2 -- 1410AD

We complete Iron Works in Memphis

Turn 3 -- 1415AD

I work on getting marketplaces built in cities with happiness issues

Turn 4 & 5 -- 1420AD & 1425AD

I've added 15 more tanks to the total. Keep trying to eliminate the happiness-impaired cities with marketplaces. Keep building Tanks. We have MPPs that continue ever on ...

That must be the turnaround record for this game!

I was in a groove after mastering early AW over in MLDR2 :D

Plus, turns go by *much* faster when you're not at war..

Current roster:

ChrTh
SHard - out until ???
Mad-Bax -- UP
Space Oddity -- On Deck
Wanderer
Earp

Wow - my turn lasted what ... about 3 or 4 days . now I'm almost up again ?

But as ChrTH says, turns go faster when you're not at war, AND also, now that we have a plan for they way ahead.

Hope no-one was irritated by the length of time I took for my turn (I know it exceeded the 48 hours rule), but I truly felt that some of the things that occurred in my turn were critical for us, in terms of where we had to go, and what we had to do ..

Anyway, looks like I will get another turn, at least.

Go mad , MAD !!

@Wanderer: Not mad at all! To point of this was to be a TEAM effort, and that's what we did.

Besides, I usually give 72 hours in my SG :)

No worries Wanderer, we *are* trying to steal the win from Persia, which will be a feat if we manage to pull it off.

I just found out that I have to go out of town tomorrow on business. I plan on returning on Friday, August 29th. I will post if I return earlier. I may have limited internet access, but I doubt it. Skip me if my turn comes up.

Well this was just about military build up.

Turnlog:

1425AD: Changed some production to cathederal for cultural pressure on Persian cities.

IBT:
England ask for ROP. No

1430AD
Worker turns. Start to irrigate stuff

1435AD:
Worker turns.
I am not shipping new units abroad as I am concerned about the Persians.

1440AD:
Moved some tanks into Hakodate to dissuade a Persian attack.

IBT:
Persians Complete UN.
Gift 10gpt to England.

1445AD:
Worker Turns
Hurried 3 cathederals on English Continent.

1450AD:
More Worker Turns.

Tiles controlled 1217
Tiles to limit 410
Unclaimed 46

Current population 659
Pop to limit 388

We have 74 tanks.

I would say give it 5 turns, then start stealing techs.
No more workers. We need the population.
Continue to irrigate the northern territories to increase rate of pop increase.

This is going to get interesting for the next couple of players.
Here is the save.
