Introduction:
The story of Russians, played on DoC v1.12 (SVN792). Regent difficulty, marathon speed. The aim was to win UHV, or an alternative victory. There was interaction in some ways. The interaction depended highly on civics. The last form was roleplaying as members of Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. Update was twice-once a week. The story ended after an incurable CTD.

Since time immemorial the large forests were home to native peoples. For first time in history there was the opportunity of trade. Local leaders started to emerge.

Ivan was the first recoreded leader to establish a state. His administrative center, Moscow was a bit remote from other states, but Ivan believed he made the best choice.

Byzantines were the first to come in contact with this newly founded state. Justinian saw the opportunity to christianise this new pagan nation and gain an ally in Europe. He recognised the new state, and signed a trade partnership with Ivan. He promised to help Rus in the immediate future.

Rus, although descendants of Viking seafaring people, never learnt how to fish. However there were many rivers around rich with fresh fish. So the Rus people started to experiment themselves trying to catch this delicious fish.

The realm of Franks was the second state to recognise the state of Ivan. Unlike Byzantine Franks were cautious.

Franks sent a large army deep in eastern Europe. They said themselves that they are from western Europe. Ivan never understood why they sent a large stack of units so far.

Rus found a rich source of iron near Moscow. The source wasn't near enough to be controlled by Moscow, so local inhabitants declared their autonomy as the city of Caricyn. Ivan made a deal with them, he will recognise their autonomy, if they supply Moscow with this valuable ore.

The cities of Rus, like Sank-Peterburg, emerged on Byzantine and Norman trade routes.

Kingdom of Denmark, the most powerful viking kingdom that time, contacted the Rus states that emerged in the west. They signed trade agreements.

Byzantine missionaries spread Orthodoxy in Caricyn. Byzantines promised Ivan to recognise him as the ultimate leader in the states of Rus and to send him a byzantine princess. What he had to do is converting to orthodoxy.

Ivan accepted the deal. He converted to orthodoxy and married Anna, the daughter of Byzantine emperor. He brought christianity to Moscow. Inhabitants of Moscow converted, some peacefully and some violently. From now on, Ivan was de jure the leader of all Rus people and the state was formally called "Grand Duchy of Muscovy". Later, historians said that the state of Ivan was the last pagan state in Europe.

Rus learnt to fish massively. Russians discovered something more than fish. They learnt how to produce Caviar. Royal meals were never the same anymore in Duchy of Muscovy and beyond.

Right now we run dynasticism, so I am the grand duke :D

However, we run vassalage too. So you can be dukes of the cities. Loyalty to grand duke is required (well that's how vassalage works, sorry for that :D). Every duke will control a city, like production, workers and specialists. You can't control other units, but you can request defence if you want to. Have in mind that I will play the game every two days even if you didn't post your city's policy.

Moreover, you are my royal counsil. You can advise me even if you don't control any city.

As a grand duke I will generally respect your choices, but I will intervere if something seems vital to me.

The current situation:
Spoiler :

I will keep control of Moscow for the time being. So there are three cities available: Sankt-Peterburg, Caricyn, Uglish. I can build settlers in Moscow if more people want to participate.

Whoever wants a city post the city he/she wants, its policies and his/her ingame gender (to give the right title). You may request unfounded city, and propose the location. I might aprove it and build a settler in Moscow, I might postpone it later or disapprove it completely. You can request your settler from a duke/duchess, so he/she decides.

Counsil: What tech shall I discover next?

I wish to own Caricyn

I am a male gender, and wish that we produce barracks in the city after we produce a worker to mine the iron

And we should research sailing after fishing

Dear lord TheNoob,

The Grand Duke Ivan is pleased by your willingness. He will make an official anouncement, at the appropriate time. Additionally, I inform you that Caricyn is founded around the already built mine, so no need to build one.

Great Duke's messenger

I would like to be duke of a city that has not been founded, oh wonderful Grand Duke. The one that is next to the horses to the SouthWest of Moscow. On that forest where the river bends. The city would also be below the wheat and one tile NorthEast of the iron deposit.

He said he will control Moscow for the time being.

Dear lord CaterpillarKing,

Grand Duke Ivan thought about your duchy. According to our informations the khaganate of Kazan emerges some miles eastern of your claimed area. The Grand Duke Ivan thinks it is better to wait until the khaganate establishes control over the surrounding areas and conquer it. If we declare your duchy now, the khaganate probably won't emerge.

However, the great Duke is pleased with your willingness and offers you to chose a different duchy. You can take control of Kazan after its conquest.

If you want Kazan I recommend you to take control of a different city now, because Kazan will spawn many turns later.

I want to Control Moscow please

Do you want to overthrow me :D? You can't take Moscow.

Please include your city policies too. I noticed that we luck advanced weapons, so we will probably research guilds (knights) or engineering (pikes). We will probably buy sailing through trade.
