Many leaders in Civ V aren't saints. For example Qin Shi Huang you mentioned. While quite competent leader, he was also a brutal man who did horrible things, like erasing history by burning books and killing Confucian scholars.

And let's not forget about Alexander. Persians hardly gave him the Achaemenid Empire as a gift. And of course, the sack of Persepolis.

Then we have Genghis, who killed about 11% of the world's population (which actually helped the planet :p).

And how could I forget about the "bloodthirsty backstabbing warmonger Cyrus the (not so) Great"

I think you mean Civ VI. :p

Almost all of the leaders featured in the Civ franchise have their dark side. However, I'm not fond of putting Stalin and Mao Zedong in the game, (and also Hitler). The funny thing is my maternal grandma admires Mao Zedong for giving her an education, but she left China before the famine and Cultural Revolution... Those three are too recent and there's people who have relatives who suffered as a result of those leaders' actions. Maybe after 200 years, they can be in Civ. :p

True you didn’t mention Qin Shi Huang but you were you saying Wu was vicious so it’s Ok they don’t have her in CIV 6. Which to me implies that viciousness is a criteria to whether the leader deserves to be in the game. That’s why I brought up Qin. Please know that I am not trying to start a fight, just want to have discussions.

I said nothing about Qin Shi Huang. :p

Nor did I say her viciousness was not in some way necessary. But I do think murdering a child in the way she did is unnecessary. There were other ways for her to consolidate power without taking that dark step.

Typo fixed :mischief:

Although Civ V also didn't have perfect leaders (well... maybe except for Pedro II. The good Pedro II, not this jerk complaining about his incompetence to earn great people before me :P). It had Alexander, Genghis Khan, and of course, ATTILAAAAAA!

But back on the main topic. India, while being quite good for the RV, is still a weak Civ. I hope that Chandragupta Maurya's India will be stronger.

Also, any ideas what Chandragupta's agenda could be?

The Romans have instant roads, the Persians upgraded roads.
There should be another road/trade bonus.
Could be an extra (defensive?) yield on a road tile? extra movement for traders?

something went wrong during quoting.
Moderator Action: The closing quote formatting can't be bolded. Fixed it for you.

But the LUA should be trade-related:

Yes, but be fair: at least he tried to PERSONALLY repopulate the Earth. Singlehandedly. As in like "8% of the world can trace their lineage to Genghis Khan."

Something with empires and religion? I'm not too familiar with Chandragupta Maurya's life to guess an agenda. And the first Look video tomorrow will not reveal it. We'll have to wait for them to say what his agenda is in a livestream.

It's good to be the khan.

Haha, my mind was not interpreting them as being a birds-eye view of carts. I was seeing some sort of weird hot air balloon thing and not understanding at all.

So glad I wasn't the only one ;). Some people have suggested Byzantium though, as peacocks feature in many of their mosaics.

Assuming that actually happened. Not that that would have been unusual for a Chinese Emperor.

Hitler might rule Germany in Civ XXVI, by that time his evil deeds are forgotten, like Napoleons terror now.
While hippies smoking 4:20* in a Volkswagen.

4:20 is a weed smoking cult, unfortunatly it's Hitlers birthday

So how will Chandra look like?

I'm not sure how accurate any of these modern depictions of CM are, but I'm assuming he's bare chested. In garb similar to that depicted below.

Does this mean we're getting first looks on Wednesdays from now on? I'd gotten used to the prior schedule and everything.

I think the delay is only because of Christmas. New Years may also result in a delay.

Add me to the “I thought those were balloon transmitters” camp. Also, that peacock twerk!

It could always be as simple as just gaining extra trade routes. Hopefully in addition to some other LUA perks.

There are twerking peacocks in the video? The devs have really stepped up the marketing. I assume they are animated?

If Hojo is any indication, they’ll definitely draw inspiration from more modern and pop-cultural depictions.

And there have been quite a few of those in recent times.

There have been atleast two very popular soap dramas about various (fictionalised) accounts of his life in the past five years or so on Indian television.

Though historical accuracy of these potrayals is dubious.
