I'd like to, for what it's worth, post a message to the whole of the USA letting you know you're in my thoughts.
I only heard about the disasters at 10:00pm UK time (5:00pm Eastern USA) as I was at work and on seeing the footage on TV it was just so much to take in. Now given a few days having past I think it's only just beginning to hit home.
Incase any of you aren't aware, the whole of Europe (and further afield) is mourning your loss. Inside those buildings were people from all over the world so the shock and pain is resounding the world over.
From what I've seen, people in New York are responding with great dignity and courage. During the 1st and 2nd World Wars (and more recenlty in the form of the IRA's terrorism) British people endured so much sorrow but one thing which has been built solidly into the character of the UK as a result is the will and spirit to never be defeated.
It's easy to romanticise over this, but over the last few days Americans have responded in such a way of which they should be truly proud. They've given a huge f*ck you to the evil bastards which did this and have shown such spirit and will to get back on thier feet so soon after such atrocities.
These things never work. They only ever succeed in making us stronger.
It is an awful, awful tragedy, yet from this all Americans will emerge stronger.
I can see this posting is maybe slightly rambling, maybe it's all been said before and yet I had to let you know how I was feeling.
Whatever action is taken, I, personally, am fully behind the need to eradicate terrorism of ALL kinds, and would gladly lay down my own life if it meant preventing such an attack ever happening again.
