Alright then SK, i don't want to completely doom us. I will post 5 starts here and you can choose. I change my vote to change the start.

Go ahead and post the new starts. If I get a chance tonight, I'll vote on them. Otherwise, pick the best one and start playing. I won't be back until Monday night or Tuesday.

4 looks dandy, but I can't make out what those tiles are NW of the starting location, because they're watercolor.

I'll decide tomorrow morning after I've opened saves 2 and 4 in civ to see if I can recognize the hidden terrain better with a normal graphic set.

4 looks like it has Tundra in the north. I kinda like it though... I'm voting for either 4 or 2... isn't India supposed to be grey? Why are you purple?! If it's a tie between 4 or 2, I'm going for 4.

<sneaking a few minutes while packing>
My guess is coastline to the NW in #4, but its only a guess.

If it wasn't likely that to the West in 3 is coast ending the land mass, it would be an interesting start. Good mix of terrain and a strategic land break to boot.

I'm too lazy to open it, so I'm gonna just vote for #2 because Coast is better than Tundra and it's looking like #4 got Tundra there (it sure ain't Coast, look closely).
Remember how annoying it was to start near Tundra in DGT2? It's gonna be way worse in Emperor.

Hmm, no vote for me, tis what I get for not coming on every single day. I guess choosing a good start location is not all that bad since we did skip an entire difficulty level. As for my vote on the above starts, my choice is 3, only because this is DGIT3.

I'm back guys, looks like 4 is a great start, lets get ready to rumble.

Oh well, no poitn in moving me to the second slot in the roster after all... At 2:00 tonight I'm heading to the airport... Unless you get the first 20 done within 6 hours or so, I won't get a chance to play till I get back. :'(

thanks, SK.

In 4000BC a band of wandering nomads calling them selfs Indian settled in a land of wheat and cows. A brave young man, whom was called Delhi was in charge of this small band, and the first settlement had his name... long live the memory of Delhi!

Turn 0 (4000BC)
Yes, we have Tundra near our capitol again. I think I can move 1 se to prevent it from being in our starting 21, but we'll lossing a forest in the process. I think moving is the better option.
Move worker 1s on to the cow. Yes, will be a better option to move to the southeast and get the plains instead of the tundra.

Turn 1(3950BC)
Delhi founded. Production set to warrior, due in 4.

worker starts irigation on the cow.
Set research to writing at min. Will pull it in 50 turns at min or at max research.

warrior > warrior Will start a granary prebuild next.

worker finishes irigation.

Turn 5 (3750BC)
warrior 1w to mountain. We have Ivory! Our next city could be founded right on top of it... Also have a goody hut... Not brave enough to pop it myself though.:p This is a nice location from what I can see. Also notice 2 sugars to the south of the ivory.

worker starts road.

IBT
zzz
Turn 6 (3700)
warrior moves 1w. Should I shouldn't I pop the hut???

IBT
zzz

Turn 7(3650BC)
Skip the goody hut. I just don't trust them anymore... never anything "good" about them.

IBT
Road finishes. This allows us to turn science down to 10%, still pulling writing in 43 turns.

Turn 8 (3600BC)
Warrior moves 1s. ut oh. We have borders very very close to us. I think it may be China.
worker moves 1n

IBT
Delhi - warrior > barracks

Turn 9 (3550BC)
Move warrior 1sw towards borders.
fort second warrior for MP in the captiol. Remember only 1 citizen before rioting now!
worker builds mine

IBT

Turn 10 (3500BC)
Nope, it's the vikings. We have to have them gone before they reach the middle ages.
Trade Pottery for Ceremonial Burial and 26 gold. They're now up Warrior Code on us.
Change Delhi from Barracks to Granary. Not sure if I can MM it to get the granary before growth.
But this will for sure be a 4-turn factory.

IBT
We get kicked out of the Viking homeland.
Borders of Delhi expand.

Turn 11(3450BC)
Move warrior w.

IBT

Turn 12 (3400BC)
Wow! There is this one city spot that will have ivory, and 2 cows. Another city spot will have 3 sugar... BUT, we have to get there before the Viks do.
Viks now have Bronz Working. Won't part with it for anything. Maybe we can pull it with Writing.

IBT
zzz
Turn 13 (3350BC)
Meet the Maya. They are up Masonry and Warrior Code.
Viks still won't part with Bronze Working.

IBT
Ottomans appear into view.

Turn 13 (3300BC)
Trade the Ottomans Alpha for Bronze Working and 10 gold.
Trade the Maya Bronze Worker and 27 gold for Warrior Code. Now we're only behind Masonry.
Trade Ottomans warrior code, 16 gold, and 2 GPT for Masonry. We're not at parity with all the first tier techs. Writting due in 37, pulling 3 GPT. Everyone else but the Maya and us are broke. We have 2 gold.;) THe Maya are the rich guys with 72 gold.
IBT

Turn 14/15 (3250BC)
move warrior 1n
I think I'm going to have to freeze growth to get the granary build first. 2 turns, 4 food frozen is still better then lossing 10 food.
worker starts road.

IBT

Turn 16 (3200BC)
warrior moves e

IBT
zzz

Turn 17 (3150BC)
warrior moves n

IBT
Worker finishes road on plains. Moves to north wheat.

Turn 18 (3100BC)
Freeze Growth on Delhi. Wait the 3 turns for the granary to build, because it'll happen on the next leaders turn.

IBT
zzz

Turn 19 (3050BC)
worker starts mine on wheat.
warrior moves n
Notice the Maya have their wines hooked up already.

IBT
zzz

Turn 20 (3000BC)
warrior moves e
no trades, no MM needed now.
Viks have wines hooked up now too.

Notes:
We have a pretty good start. Wait til Delhi reaches size 4 before we make a settler, and should be able to make one every 4 turns.

Worker moves: Finish the mine and then road the wheat. Move southwest and build mine on that wheat, then road. Move 1s and mine the plains, and then build a road. Then move se and build a mine on the second plains and then road. This should give us 5+ food and +7, with growth giving us a settler from the forest.

Keep a close eye on trades. Things can get out of hand very quickly on Emperor. Right now we're at tech parity with only The Wheel needed for first tier techs. We're 31 turns away from Writing, with no idea of the other guys research paths.

The next 20 turns need to be handled with care. We should be able to get a settler out within the next 10 turns, but I'm worried about hwo many neighbors we have so close to us... The good news is that I think we're pretty much alone to the east, just not sure how much land is there. Settler to the southwest first, to prevent the Viks from getting all those cows and sugars.

Here's the save
